  1. That REASON is that, on a steal of 3B, a right-handed catcher's shoulders and feet are already aligned properly to throw to 3B when he receives the pitch. A left-handed catcher's shoulders and feet must be realigned AFTER receiving the pitch resulting in a significant time loss, resulting often in a successful steal of 3B.
  2. Swinging will still get you to two strikes, unless you can actually hit a fair ball off the guy. Based on Kluber vs. the Twins so far, that ain't happening!
  3. "Don't fix what's not broken in regards to Santana" That is a good point. But there are many things broken in regards to Hughes, Pelfrey and Milone that skipping them for Santana could help the Twins. I would rather Santana become "Everyday Ervin", than start one of those "Three Stooges" in their current condition.
  4. There is one case that is evident. If a guy is FAILING in the minors, he is not ready for the majors.
  5. Hicksie, Buxie, Ploofie, Dozie, Rosie, Zukee, Eddie, Joey and Sanosie have all been battling their tails off! The starters have given us a chance to win! The pen has all done their jobs! We gotta play one game at a time! We can't be watching the scoreboard! Have I forgotten any clichés? Is that all you got? Let's go bowling!
  6. By MY count there are seven others, total of eight. Nikko Goodrum, Travis Harrison, Dalton Hicks, Jorge Polanco, Adam Brett Walker, Steve Wickens, and Brett Lee. (plus Kepler)
  7. Chump change! He had $800,000 in the bank when he was 16-yrs-old.
  8. I am actually NOT in favor of re-signing Hunter, if it leaves someone important off the roster. I am arguing ONLY that the importance of the leadership and the character of a team's most influential player(s)is NOT to be minimized. Please read the following article written by one of my ex-players, who is now 3B for the World Champion Giants. I think it illustrates that importance even at the MLB level: http://www.theplayerstribune.com/matt-duffy-giants-the-new-kid/
  9. Yeah, I think that was just more of the same "outpouring of fan/media love" as the returns of Jason Bartlett,Jason Kubel and Matt Guerrier generated last spring......Did that sound sincere?

  11. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/minnesota-twins Twins call up Southern League Champion and Player of the Year, Max Kepler, to join the Major League squad!

  13. The Lookouts have been playing DJ Hicks at 1B, Max Kepler in OF and Wickens at 3B in order to have Hicks play instead of Levi Michael. Hicks slumped, so he sat; Kepler moved to 1B, Levi Michael inserted in the IF and Wickens moved to LF.
  14. Arcia and Shafer were not around long enough to benefit from Hunter. Buxton missed almost all last season and had played ONLY ONE GAME at AA before this season. Hunter DID ALL THE MENTORING DUTIES you mention. The fact that he wanted to play was likely to help the team win and GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS. If he doesn't play, and Buxton gets his at-bats, (the way Buxton has been hitting) THERE WOULD BE NO PLAYOFFS for the Twins this season and the "playoff run" would probably be over already. Hunter is 40-yrs-old and wants to play in a World Series. He would be a bad role model IF HE DIDN'T CARE about playing and winning!
  15. And I agreed. I also believe that "leadership" exists, although it can't be measured. Who were the two most surprising overachievers as position players on the Twins? I say Hicks and Rosario, who just happen to be outfielders. Who is the leader of the outfielders?....Hunter. How well did Hicks2013, Rosario2013, Rosario2014 and Hicks2014 do without Hunter? How many games is that worth? I don't have any idea.
  16. Agree "2 games" is someone's imagination. However, World Series appearances (or lack of) don't depend on one guy. Ernie Banks was great, but you can't make chicken salad out of chicken bleep!
  17. Don't forget his splitter, like he apparently has.
  18. Thanks, it worked well.
  19. Thanks, I didn't see that one before, and that is EXACTLY what I wanted to see!
  20. I am trying to recall, has Rosario hit any homeruns off high fastballs? My memory failings may be the problem, and not a perceived hole in his swing. So I am going to have to depend on the supposedly better memories of other posters.
  21. As a High School and Youth baseball coach for xxxx years, I think you people are forgetting another factor. More players have regressed due to falling in love than concussions, ageing, poor training, bi-lateral leg weakness, and dipping combined. Joe got married, had a family and had his life priorities "corrected" by a woman. Has anybody else out there had a similar experience? Face it! Make a choice! The proliferation of the human race...or the second wild-card spot? Which is more important?
