  1. Byron Buxton now has SIX TRIPLES in 25 games at AA. The MLB Twins triples leaders have ONE TRIPLE each.
  2. I'd be surprised to see Beresford getting a shot prior to September unless they jettison some 40-man filler. Bernier is the future jettisoned 40-man filler, unless someone elsegoes on the 60-day DL to replace E.Santana.
  3. In earlier decades, the palmball was thrown by Ewell Blackwell. If Ewell Blackwell threw a palmball, it was likely from the sidearm slot. Blackwell was successful to to his length and arm angle which sometimes made RH hitters relieve themselves.
  4. If/when Hicks succeeds, his long term role is in LF, not CF. Hicks should be a RIGHT-fielder with one of the strongest throwing arms in the organization.
  5. You are right. Player/Pitcher of the month, by definition is a measure of performance only. I just hope that if Joe Mauer gets injured; goes to the GCL for rehab; and bats .340, he doesn't beat out the 18-yr-old kids for that award.
  6. You have to factor in AGE with level. An 18-yr-old tearing up AA is better than a 26-yr-old tearing up AAA.
  7. Gardenhire's most likely landing spot is on his rear.
  8. Prediction: Arcia plays this season for Rochester and Eduardo Escobar plays most of games in LF for the Twins.
  9. If his wife and kids are forced to support the family while he is "having fun as an adult and getting paid" peanuts, then he is wasting all their time, efforts and dreams for the sake of what?. If he actually has a chance to play in the Big Leagues, and he is taking his shot, that is OK.
  10. Actually, playing pro baseball is not for everyone. Those who are not talented enough should re-direct their career choices toward curing cancer or a least doing something more rewarding than playing minor league baseball. Paying guys enough money to continue wasting their lives does not benefit them or humanity.
  11. Unless you can play in the Big Leagues, baseball is a bad financial decision. But, like with artists, many baseball decisions are not financially motivated.
  12. As a coach with 55 years experience, I can say that both techniques have been taught and used for taking throws at 1B. On a close play the arm-side foot stays the bag to facilitate stretching for the ball. On NOT-CLOSE plays, both heels start on the bag and the ball-side foot comes off the bag allowingthe first-baseman to stay in an athletic position squared-up with the throw whether left or right of the base.
