  1. After Chattanooga is eliminated from the playoffs, Kepler / Meyer are promoted and Pinto / Polanco are sent to Fall-Ball.
  2. If I were GM for two days, the following would take place: 1)Eric Fryer makes the 40-man roster by replacing Jason Wheeler, and is promoted. 2)JOBerrios makes the 40-man roster by replacing Aaron Thompson, and is promoted. 3)Hicks, Santana, Vargas, Tonkin, and Achter are recalled from Rochester. Kepler and Polanco stay at Chattanooga for the playoffs. Pinto and Meyer are reassigned to Chattanooga for the playoffs.
  3. "He's handled himself good", Mauer added.... Did Mauer learn to speak English from Gardy?
  4. There is almost zero danger in catching a bullpen, unless a "stand-in" batter does something stupid, resulting in a foul tip.
  5. uote] Chattanooga (Kepler) will make the playoffs, and Rochester will not.
  6. Prediction for call-ups Tuesday: PITCHERS: DARNELL(L), TONKIN®, MEYER® CATCHERS: PINTO, FRYER INFIELDERS: VARGAS, D.SANTANA OUTFIELDERS: HICKS
  7. "But all our data shows that these strategies really make no difference in preventing injury. The study looked at injury rates based on the number of innings pitched and five levels of yearly increases ranging from 10 to 50 innings. A year-over-year increase of 30 innings pitched is often used as the limit for the number of innings a young starting pitcher is allowed to pitch in any given season. The researchers found no consistent correlation between injuries and the number of innings pitched or rate of yearly increase" http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/04/150406121354.htm
  8. Number of innings is not the issue for Berrios. If he pitches stressful innings as a reliever, it will endanger his arm more than starter innings. I think he should be pitch VERY few innings, until (and if) the Twins make the playoffs, then he can be used in the playoffs.
  9. Adam Brett Walker at 99 RBI (28 HR) after 6 innings in Monday game.
  10. If that is an up-to-date photo of Berrios, he can't be ready for MLB! He looks 12-yrs-old!
  11. Friday night in Rochester. Waldo Arcia and Danny Santana just went combined Oh-for 12 with four strikeouts, preparing for their September call-up.
  12. I hope it is a player to be named later, because that player hasn't been born yet.
  13. Jumping off a bridge is intentional. Failing to develop a drafted player is UN-intentional, but happens often. False analogies can be either, but you just used one.
  14. JEEEEEZE!!! Joe Mauer got more hits than the rest of the roster COMBINED!!!!!!!!!
  15. This is probably off the main subject but: Is there a link or source where I can find a list of the Twins minor-league prospects who must be added to the 40-man-roster in order to be exempt from loss in the next Rule V draft? I would appreciate that information. Thanks.....
  16. 12 pitchers IS typical, but the Twins have needed 13 pitchers many times in the last 5 years. If Hicks, Buxton and Rosario can play every inning of every game, then Vargas/Arcia can platoon at DH, but if of the three is unavailable, Vargas DH's and Arcia (or ABW) plays an ugly corner OF. That is do-able but not ideal.
  17. Problem occurs when you need a 13-man pitching staff ((8) bullpen) and 3-man bench. If Vargas is your backup DH, your bench has (1) infield utility guy; (1) backup catcher (who can't be used as PH without an emergency catcher on the roster); and Vargas.
  18. "Let him go somewhere else, develop and make us look stupid once again" The percentage of MLB players who develop and succeed with the organization that drafted them, is amazingly small. Every MLB team repeatedly appears stupid in this regard.
  19. A DH platoon causes a defensive substitution shortage at catcher, middle-infielder or defensive outfielder. Especially in a 13-man pitching staff and a three-man bench configuration.
