  1. A big part of those championships too - 88 2B - 15 3B - 97 HR - 354 RBI in 3 1/2 years is deserving attention. I agree with article too.
  2. 2018 Line Up 1) Buxton CF (70+ SB) 2) Polanco 2B (traded Dozier) "Mr. contact" / Vielma (UTL) 3) Kepler RF (20+ HRs) 4) Sano 3B (will have traded Plouffe by 2018) (35+ HRs) 5) Park 1B (Mauer / bench guy by 2018) (35+ HRs) 6) Arcia DH / Palka DH (30+ HRs) 7) Walker LF (traded Rosario in 2017) (30+ HRs) 8) Murphy C / Turner C (35% throw out rate) 9) Gordon SS (30+ SB) Berrios Duffy Jay Gonzalves Gibson +Tons of relief help (flame throwers)
  3. IMO - ABW II has the potential to get there and stay there (MLB). He is 4 for 10 in 5 spring training games over 2 years with 2 home runs and 2 doubles and 2 strikeouts. ST games may not matter much, but they do serve as stepping stones for hitter and pitcher alike. Not a bad start. Good group of hitters to watch in 2016. http://m.mlb.com/video/v59835383/bosmin-walker-hits-a-solo-home-run-to-left-field/?query=Adam+brett+walker
  4. Great Read Bottom line - Do they understand what you are saying as an instructor? and how long does it take instructor to figure out the prospect doesn't understand what he is communicating? How does each prospect learn best? Video - Demonstration - Verbal Clues - Through Failure? I personally believe that the kids in Ft. Myers and Chattanooga are further behind compared to so many other prospects in baseball, because they don't have their games televised for reference purposes. Chattanooga was one of 2 teams in Southern League to not have games televised. Most young players learn via video today. Being able to look at film from each game has to be the best teaching tool and those two important levels failed to have film regularly enough for their players. IMO Philosophy is one thing - Proper teaching tools is another. Would love for Seth and Jeremy to ask why / if the Twins teach off of film regularly at the minor league levels compared to other systems. Also ask the players if they would love to have more video of their ABs?
  5. Here is a funny thought - Let's bring back a guy who left us and had similar success elsewhere. He throws 95+ and struck out 65 in 54 innings pitched. Tyler Jones (former Twin) was an All Star in AA (Southern League) for Mississippi Braves (Atlanta) this past year. They left him unprotected (haha). Let's use what he learned from ATL and put him on roster like we did with Graham last year (another ATL product). Only 26 years old. 294 SO in 249 career innings. Only 2 HRs givien up in the last 2 years (104 innings) and none in 2015. Just saying - We drafted him and let him go. Why not bring him back if he can pitch?
  6. Nice words from Scottsdale Manager (from Cleveland Indians): "It's great," said Scottsdale manager Matt Quatraro. "Any time you play, you want to win and these guys took that attitude to heart. We did it the right way. We didn't do it at anybody's expense. Everybody got to play, and everybody contributed." Walker, who's Minnesota's No. 10 prospect, had an RBI single in the three-run fourth and doubled in a pair of insurance runs with two outs in the eighth. "Man, what a great game for him. What a great kid," Quatraro said. "I can't say enough about him. When somebody like that has a good day, you really feel happy for him." (Giant Prospect & SS) Arroyo agreed. "That two-out double by Walker in the eighth was huge," he said. "At that point, I felt like we had a good chance to win."

  8. Milwaukee has nothing to loose by drafting a particular high upside reliever. A Melotakis (ex.) is a perfect pick for them because they can make it with 39 players and possibly hold him out for medical reasons. They already know this is going to be a long season, so why not take a shot on a potential key future regular.
  9. Kepler has always shown signs of an elite prospect and is putting it together this season. I wonder how much the Arizona Fall League helped since he didn't have a great 2014. Rosario actually took off too after AZ Fall League. Maybe it is just what the doctor ordered for hitters. That said - Kepler and Rosario are very similar in overall upside and skill set.
  10. Larry Ward said (yesterday) he has only seen ball go over scoreboard 4 times in his years (27) with the Lookout. Walker has done it 3 times this year. Hard to tell from news video truly how far, but looked like blast. Really wish Lookouts had televised games with multiple angles. Only Chattanooga and Mobile without televised games.
  11. Great video of Lookout comeback courtesy of Chattanooga News station: http://www.wdef.com/content/sports/localsports/story/Lookouts-Use-7-Run-7th-Inning-Rally-to-Beat/d7pUDJj2HUKrQHzAToTmfw.cspx
  12. Prospect - Year in System - Career Minor League BA - Minor League XBH's Arcia 2008 .309 229 (77 HR) Kepler 2010 .278 143 (28 HR) Rosario 2010 .291 194 (60 HR) Harrison 2012 .263 126 (27 HR) Walker 2012 .259 183 (91 HR) Based on these numbers - Arcia shows the most promise for any of our current minor league outfielders in term of BA and Pop. Assuming Buxton is untouchable - Which of these guys do you not mind losing? What do you weigh more in your corner outfielders (defense; average; OBP; power)?
  13. ABW II (25 HR & 79 RBI) - Best run producer in all of minor league baseball and he is in your back yard. Was the best even when he played with Buxton and Sano. At his worst he would probably still lead the Twins in RBI and HRs. Despite SO's. Still waiting for the level in which he doesn't lead league / team in HRs and RBI? Nothing to lose.
  14. I had fun reading this article from last year and thinking about Walker this year. Very similar M O, but probably better on the defensive end this year. 10 more HRs than anyone in Southern League and 22 more RBI than anyone in Southern League. Similar to what Seth acknowledged last year from Walker.
  15. I love the format. The Florida State League (minors) used that timed format in their last 2 HR Derby's. They only had 3 minutes and no time outs. It is a will of stamina for sure, but makes for an exciting event.
  16. Unfortunately Walker is not an international Player. It would have been nice to see him in the Future Game as Kepler's replacement. Leading the minor leagues in HRs (23) and second in RBI (73). The event is called the "Futures Game" though. Meaning Top Prospects The 23 year old Walker is 5 for 13 in 3 minor league all star games with 1 2B /1 HR / 1 MVP. He also has 4 runs scored and only 3 SO. Not likely he would have embarrassed the Twins Best of luck to JO Berrios in Sunday's game. He is the Future
  17. Seems like the Southern League agreed with you Seth. I agree with you as well. The Twins announced their Minor League Hitter of the Month going to Kepler. Crazy stats for both, but I again can't ignore the mass numbers put up in the month of June. Crazy Production. http://www.milb.com/documents/2/9/6/135045296/Walker_Named_Player_of_the_Month_89m02y48.pdf
  18. That has been the case every year Walker has played and you have no argument with me there. He plays with great teammates who know how to score runs. I'm just saying he does it better than everyone else on his team (EVERY YEAR). Whether he bats 7th (like most of this year) or 5th (like he is lately). As far as those stats meaning nothing - naaah - They mean plenty. Don't ask the fans. Ask his teammates who play with him if they mean nothing. Ask those opposing coaches if they mean nothing. 70 RBI and 23 HRs on a team that scores a lot of runs can't mean nothing when his now 70 RBI are double the next closest teammate on his team. That's right DOUBLED. Is his .924 OPS a meaningless stat too? He has plenty to work on but damn.............. "Nothing"
  19. AB Walker has been the most consistent run producer in the Twins system for quite some time. Let's be honest. EVERYBODY / MOST had doubt about his success at the AA level coming into the season. Everyone / Most "thought" - that AA pitching would expose his previous mistake hitting success. Seems everyone was semi right. Walker is exposed during most of his ABs (usually via the strikeout), while others are usually exposed in multiple ways (via the FO or GO or SO). Lucky for Walker his .940 OPS helps off set that flaw some. Sense baseball is a game of failure, I tend to look at the positives more so than the negatives. That's just me. What collection of players bring me the best opportunity to win? NATURAL BORN WINNERS - With a .620 winning percentage in the minors, Walker's power (2B / 3B / HR) has shown to be a valuable asset in terms of Runs, RBI, and Wins. Love the choice for this months top hitter. Kepler, Walker and of course Polanco should be headed to AAA - BTW
  20. Why is it always about the HRs with Walker. He has hit as many doubles as anyone on the team (17) in addition to his minor league leading 19 HRs. Certain guys hit 17 doubles and it shows their potential for future power, while Walker hits 17 doubles and he is all or nothing based on Ks and HRs. A .312 ISO and .407 wOBA mean nothing either? Not to mention the fact that he has SCORED more than damn near everyone in the entire league. When do we start appreciating the part of his game that actually helps you win games [hrS; SCORING RUNS; DRIVING IN RUNS]. He has put himself in scoring position more times than anyone else in the league based on hits alone (posted before - XBH). Damn a strikeout. What can you do to help me win games? Get on base (BB) and wait for the next guy to help you get around the bases? How's that working for the Twins lately? Every team needs RUN PRODUCERS!!! Walker has 18 more RBI than Sano and that doesn't matter because he strikeouts too much. I said 18 MORE. How many Twins don't even have 18? And for the record - WALKER BATS 7th in the lineup - 7TH!!! It's crazy because the announcers from another Southern League team dubbed ABW as the 1st half MVP in their eyes, but his own organizational fan base sees him as a probable failure. All they talked about was his production while never mentioning his SO once. I'm sure he's working on flaws and I don't want people to turn on him based on my opinion. Just saying............Thought AA was the most difficult transition in minor league ball? I guess that's half right and the only half that matters is SO. Back to the minor league night in baseball - No more Walker talk from me. Sorry Steve
  21. ABW II - 1st half numbers of 19 HRs and 59 RBI are outstanding. Listen to the Southern League 1st Half Recap from Non Lookout personnel / Other Southern League Announcers. Interesting perspective.................Listen from 8:45 mark https://soundcloud.com/jacksonville-suns/eye-on-the-southern-league-june-19-2015
