Since Walker has incorporated the leg kick, he has seen his K rate increase yearly. His K rate in A ball was 20% and has increased greatly each year thereafter. Look at his ABs in A ball (video) and you will see that he didn't have a big leg kick then. He hit the ball to the gaps much more too. His power numbers are relatively the same (mostly). His walk rate (2016) is the highest it has ever been (9.7). He even has a .316 BABIP. Too much movement in his load and swing. They tend to happen at the same time IMO. Watkins had him down to a 20% K rate. Don't send Walker down, but maybe have Watkins work with him via the phone. Look at the rebound year Harrison and Hicks are having in AA. Maybe it is just that they are repeating a level or maybe it is just them having another voice. Both players had career years under Watkins in 2013. Young players should have new voices yearly to work on their game. Especially if they are struggling. Walker has been with Chad Allen (AA - AFL - & AAA). His 3 worse K rate seasons. Chad is an excellent coach and did wonders for Kepler, but maybe there is a disconnect with Walker. Time to hear a new approach? I think it was Showalter who said - "Either you are allowing it or teaching it" as it pertains to performance.

I'm a Walker fanatic and I don't even try to compare Buxton with Walker. Buxton is a phenomenal prospect and will be a star MLB player sooner than later. Each brings a different level of excitement. Both are extra base hit machines. As are Rosario and Kepler when hitting their groove. Walker will only be 24 when the season ends BTW.

For me it's about how you define his profile. K's and HRs? Then ok, I agree. If you define it by the numerous times an individual has lead his leagues in HRs, RBIs, Total Bases, and Extra Bases. (3 consecutive years). Then I say, you have no comparable profiles. None. I tend to look at the anomaly side of things. I agree with you though, nothing to lose by giving him a shot. 1 week Terry. 1 week. His defense and throws have improved as well (according to his manager - Quade).

Fair opinion but....... We also need to look at ball park differentials which is why I like w/OBA and w/RC+. One played High A in Cali League and other in Florida State League. Here is my opinion. I'll let viewers discuss whether it's fair point of view or not? I'd rather look at the only levels in which they played together: 2015 AFL. Palka = .774 OPS and wOBA of .347 and a 108 wRC+ and a 167 ISO Walker = .819 OPS and wOBA of .363 and a 119 wRC+ and a 253 ISO They are 10 days apart in age BTW with Walker the elder. Midwest League (Low A) Walker at 21 years old (2013) and Palka at 22 years of age (2014). Palka = .798 OPS and wOBA of .359 and a 125 wRC+ and a 218 ISO Walker = .845 OPS and wOBA of .373 and a 130 wRC+ and a 248 ISO Even this year in AAA where Walker is struggling with his BA and K's - He owns a [.809 OPS with a wOBA of .360 and a 130 wRC+ and an ISO of .265] This coming with him having a slow start to the season. Maybe he stays slow all year. I don't know. But I know this - These numbers are pretty much who he is EVERY YEAR. Let it be known, I really really like Palka as a prospect too. He would be a great left handed bat in the near future.

I would tend to agree with you normally, but Walker has hit those same numbers (.314 OBP) every year - Low A - High A - AA - AAA. Easy to imagine he would fail at the MLB level, but he has been as consistent as any player in our system to date. High K's and Production. Every year we say, "won't be able to do it at the next level." I'd like to see him try, if not only for a week.

I tnik most believe he deserves to stay in AAA for a while and continue to get better. It's just great to see him continue to do what he does best. Lead the league in HRs. That Rochester line up is exciting. Fun watching all those guys grow up together.

Josh Whetzel @JoshWhetzel May 20 Adam Brett Walker hit two HRs last night. The first landed in the second balcony from top supposedly! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ci7rzbFWgAIt4Qf.jpg A zebra doesn't change his stripes (Good and Bad). Hopefully he can gain a little more consistency on the positive side.

Eddie Rosario: Symptom or Solution?
GMinTraining commented on Steven Buhr's blog entry in SD Buhr/Jim Crikket
Didn't Ploufe just do that (steal 3rd on a shift) the day before and score on a wild pitch? The difference being? -
I think your plan is the "PERFECT" plan moving forward Seth. That being said - people can't expect World Series or Bust in 2017. I think it will better prepare those young guys to feed off each other 2017 going forward. The MLB highs and the lows can be experienced through the eyes of young teammates who shared in previous struggles together. Not guys stressing to live up to the expectations of the MLB veterans on the team. It would bring a completely different dynamic to the "NEW Era" of Twins baseball. That dugout is already divided into young guys and vets. At least based on the celebrations I see in the dugout. The heart felt ones anyway. Let the young new leaders emerge together. Bring the young guys up in August and find out who the true leader of the group will be. Don't force it. Great Article!

Article: Sano and the Strikeout
GMinTraining replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
AAA won't matter either. The same has been said about Walker at every level. "Wait to see if he can do it at the next level" - Like all prospects, Walker will have to prove it in the majors as well. Like he should. His production is without question the best in the system over the last 3 years. Future probabilities outweigh his production every level. Is what it is!- 50 replies

Do they allow you to bring up an extra pitcher for double headers like they do in the MLB? I would think they would allow 26 guys in MiLB because they have so many double headers in the minors. Berrios - Kepler - and Walker are the 3 youngest players on the team and the only players with multiple minor league championships (Kepler (4) / Walker (4) / Polanco (2). Will it be the youth movement leadership that brings a International League Championship or a veteran leadership that finally brings one to Rochester. 11 of 26 on roster as of today had some MLB experience last year. Can't wait to see which dynamic takes the lead and proves more important?. Championship experience or MLB experience?

I think Kepler is a stud with the sweetest swing in the organization. If everyone on the MLB team plays as we hope - Who does he replace when he reaches target field? or Who would you like him to replace if everyone else plays to their potential? He's not a 4th outfielder.

Article: Spring Training: Results Versus Process
GMinTraining replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I understand that you were talking to Ryan about pitching, but my wonder is about the positional results vs process. How does a player on the 40 man roster get single digit ABs when there are high A and lower prospects receiving double digit ABs during spring training? For example: Walker started two games last year at DH as a minor league (non 40 man) ST call up and this year never earns a start and logs the same number of ABs as last year (8)? What should a player think about his spot in the organization? I understand there should be limited ABs for a player not going to make the opening day roster, but 8 ABs through first 12 games? Wow Kepler is a Top 100 prospect and has hit well based on BA (.333). Should he be more concerned with results or process? Buxton is very similar to Kepler in that he is a Top Prospect. His speed is his defining skill set. How is he diferent from Kepler? Should he be more concerned with results or process? How do the results vs process play out for positional players? Does a player worry about results or process when they don't have an idea of when / how many games you will play in ST? Do they tell positional players what is expected from them while in camp? or is it wait and see as camp evolves?- 18 replies

Thank you - Sorry for the confusion. Experts said entire MLB draft was weak in 2012. I love the Twins 2012 draft class. I actually think the 2012 draft class across the MLB will turn up some great players down the road. [Correa; Buxton; Giolito; Seager; Stroman; Wacha; and that's just the first round]. Shows you what the experts know - Lol Comp round brought you - Berrios; Piscotty; Gallo; McCullers; and Winker. The 2012 future is bright.

Just for the record he didn't lead the league in strikeouts in 2013 (was actually 18th). Harrison actually led team that year. More and more people say "all three" (HR, RBI, SO) because it flows easier, but isn't even close to true. Tied in 2014 and unfortunately blew the door down in 2015. I remember when the entire 2012 draft was considered one of the weakest in recent memory by experts. Now we talk about it being one of the best in years. I agree with the greatness potential [buxton; Berrios; Chargois; Duffy; alone] Will be glad when they finally do play as regulars.

Article: Twins Minor Leaguers Report To Ft. Myers
GMinTraining replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I know. That's my point Lol. ABW II might have had more ABs as a non roster guy call up as opposed to being on the 40 man. 6 ABs in 10 games is a wow, but I'm sure Twins have their reasons. Has anyone seen him in BP or any of his 6 ABs? Are there improvements to notice?- 25 replies

GMinTraining replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This is probably right. The funny part is that Walker had more ABs as a call up during spring training last year. I can only imagine that the minor league players will get called up as they need to rest vets in coming games.- 25 replies

Article: Dreaming Of 200 Home Runs
GMinTraining replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm including 35 HR (avg. per 162 game season) guy who is on 40 man roster. I know the 135 rbi per 162 game average is dependent on teammates and the 100 runs scored per 162 game average is dependent on teammates, but damn, those numbers with the 35 home runs per season average really sound good to me. In the thought process of Allen Iverson: We're talking strikeouts? We're talking strikeouts? We're not talking production? We're talking strikeouts? Lol- 71 replies
