  1. Wow. Has Bremer said anything like that in the last ten years? Having met the guy, he's very nice, polite professional, pretty much all the time. It'd be interesting to see how Bremer would do with a different full-time partner. Within 10-15 years I expect to see Cuddy as part of our broadcast team, maybe he'll take burt's seat
  2. I talked to my wife about it, who happens to be a medical student graduating in a month. She says you are wrong. MRI's can show inflammation quite well if set up properly, and I'm sure the Twins have an MRI setup optimized for swelling and inflammation. My guess is "confirming the issue" confirmed that it's inflammation and not a torn tendon/ligament or bone issue.
  3. At this point, Hughes is our #3 SS. As far as Thomas, Gardy did make a point during the presser about the signing that he sees him as a bench player. I'm glad they got him on the field right away, but I think an ideal situation is that he starts no more than 2 out of every six games, and maybe comes in as a defensive replacement or pinch hitter in other games. Of course, that will all depend on how the 1b/DH situation pans out
  4. I think a lot of people expect that if Mourneau is able to play 1b regularly, they'll start DH'ing Doumit more and bring up a third catcher. The assumption would be that they send down Parmalee. I'm wondering if that's the best move right now. We haven't had a big sample size to look at, but Parmalee seems like he's been playing decent defense and hitting fairly well. I think he actually has spent more time in his career in RF than Plouffe, and Plouffe's performance at SS has driven down his value as a "super utility" player. In my mind, it makes more sense to keep Parm up here as a 1b backup and RF platoon with Clete Thomas, and send Plouffe down to develop his OF skills and find his swing. I think Plouffe is out of options, but I question wether he's established himself enough as a big leaguer for anybody to pick him up off the waivers.
  5. Pretty sure we can move Hendricks off the prospect list. With Liriano showcasing his inconsistency early, Baker out for the season, Blackburn and Perkins already day-to-day, and Marquis yet to debut, I would be surprised if Hendricks sees Rochester this year.
  6. Now, let's remember that Luke Hughes is essentially filling a role that has previously been held by Matt Tolbert, Nick Punto, Brendan Harris, and Alexi Casilla during his rough streaks. Our "utility infielder" spot has traditionally been a guy who can't hit his way out of a wet paper bag.
  7. Yeah, but those wouldn't have been home runs at target field
  8. Part of the issue is that Target Field was designed in 2007, when we were still in the "piranha era". It wasn't built to be a big home run park because we didn't HAVE big home run guys at the time. I remember hearing discussions about how the Twins should have the grass as close to the base line as possible to accomodate our bunters. Unless they build giant wind barriers and/or a roof, even moving the fences won't make Target Field a home run park. We don't need a lot of homers to score runs at Target Field. We just need to get our batters hitting more line drives, more grounders through the holes. Look at Parmalee's hit down the line against the Angels, or the hit that went just over Thomas's head yesterday. Those are the kind of hits that we need. They don't need to be power shots, just well-placed hits being legged out.
  9. Revere doesn't need to sac bunt, but he's got the speed to beat out a bunt for a hit. If he can work on hitting line drives to the gaps or sharp grounders down the lines, we could see a lot of doubles and triples from him. Not hard to imagine Span dropping the suicide squeeze bunt with Revere on third. THAT'S exciting baseball. And for the guy who mentioned 5 tool prospects, the last "5 tool prospect" I remember that started for the Twins was....Carlos Gomez.
  10. I think at this point, on a defensive level Hughes, Plouffe, and Burroughs have all been pretty even. Burroughs hasn't been on the field more than the one game, so it's hard to get a gauge on him, but Plouffe has the same number of errors Hughes does. Look at the Offensive numbers though, and Hughes is hitting much better than Plouffe, and Burroughs has a big fat .000. Barring another waiver claim or injury, I'm betting our next position player roster change will be Burroughs DFA'ed for a 3rd catcher. If Burroughs can't hit off the bench, we need to make it easier for Doumit to be used as a bench bat, and Gardy isn't likely to do that without a third catcher available.
  11. I'm not sure about the Met club, but I know we had problems when we took my mom to a couple games the first season and all the handicapped spaces around the stadium were taken by non-handicapped people who wouldn't move. We complained a lot, so it might be our fault.
  12. On one side of the corner that Lee's liquor lounge is located, they have old-school meters that are $.25 an hour and can be plugged for up to 10 hours (enforced to 10pm). The new fangled meter system on the other side is also $.25 an hour, but at some point it switches to an "event rate" of $1.50 an hour (it was 9am on thursday). That's typically where I park when I'm working at the field because I can then walk through the gated parking lot to get in, but it's not much longer a walk down Twins Way to get to the public gates. Just leave me a spot please
  13. I know it's only 6 games into the season, but when was the last time a Twin lead MLB in home runs?
  14. A beer in one hand and a fishing rod in the other?
  15. Now, if only Doumit would hit well enough to justify a "Dr. Doom" nickname
  16. Great one-pitch-per-game pitcher, or Greatest one-pitch-per-game pitcher? Correct me if I'm wrong, but he's gotten both the Twins wins, and in both games throw only one pitch.
  17. is that we finally have a hitter who will hit homers into the Home Run Porch
  18. He was making an awful lot of people nervous today too.
  19. I'm not saying Doumit is bad overall for the team, I just think at this point I would rather him being the backup catcher and a late-inning pinch hitter than starting in RF. Also, that OF of Hicks, Benson, Revere and Span sounds like fun. With the speed those four have, we could almost ditch an IF and just have them cover all the grass in the stadium.
  20. Townball Tavern is going to typically have better prices for similar stuff than Hrbeks or any of the concessions stands. It's a bit complicated as to exactly why that is, and I'm not really supposed to tell (I don't think I'm really supposed to even know).
  21. Absolutely
  22. He hasn't hit well so far, he's not our best defender at RF, C or 1b, and Gardy is resistant to pulling him out of the game late in case Mauer has to leave the game. So why doesn't he just stay on the bench on the days Mauer starts?
  23. Also, is Torii gonna be able to see straight this morning after that dive into the wall?
  24. I don't think so. Some stuff is different prices in different areas of the ball park.
  25. Even when we've only scored one run before the 8th inning in those four games and are averaging an error a game?
