  1. Bert asked if Suzuki had a vesting option based on at bats and Dick said, the contract status says he's signed through this year only. Isn't this something they should know? And they said if they deal him now it would preclude them from signing him for next year.
  2. yup, a double and an error. Oh and two strikeouts.
  3. Carlos Pena said Nunez can defensively play every position at a very high caliber level, gold glove caliber level. Those old school former players on MLB Network crack me up.
  4. I think it's win-win trade myself in that both teams get what they really need, but for me, as far as value goes, I'd say Yanks win that trade. There's tons of value to have Giolito for so many years of control. I think Yanks have to do that trade if they can.
  5. Yeah, that idea was floated on Jeff Sullivan's chat today and he said if that's a real offer Yankees should jump on it. He hinted that the Nats might balk at it if the deal got serious.
  6. No beer for me. I'd get some heat from bosses if anyone found out, assuming I even made it past the front gate :-)
  7. probably has to do with three things 1: SBs don't really add much value and teams have gotten away from them mostly now that they realize that. Which is why such a low SB total leads the league. 2. Defense matters 3. If the every team has to have a rep rule wasn't in effect, he wouldn't have made the team. There were way, way better options available for his spot on the all star team. When people say he shouldn't have been an all star, some people take it as a slight, like people are saying he was horrible at that point. No one is saying that. Doesn't mean he hadn't been good, just that there were more deserving players.
  8. Got to be, "Cuts like a knife' and if I the guy who did music for an opposing team, I would actually play that song every time he took the mound. Like every inning.
  9. Went to winefest in Germany once. Got there around 10 p.m., left around 7 a.m. Locally brewed wine out of big wooden barrels. Went to bed when I got home, and dreamt weird stuff. Woke up in the middle of my sleep and thought I saw spider webs coming down and I started swatting at the air. Good times.
  10. JR murphy has done squat in AAA. At this point, a demotion to AA is a better option than a promotion to the majors. Do we really want to promote a guy with A .563 OPS who didn't show much on defense either?
  11. And I just had them for lunch...
  12. Ever notice food is much better when you're drunk/been drinking :-)
  13. my feelings on the trade haven't changed one bit. I'm happy this trade happened and happy with what we got.
  14. yeah, I think it's obvious you and I have different ideas about defense. Which is obviously fine.
  15. depends on what passable means, but he's still not someone who should be a starting player anywhere if defense is at all a factor. 'In other words, Nunez appears to be this rare breed of utility player where he possesses the ability to play nearly any position on the diamond, just not the ability to play any of them well. It’s difficult to know what to make of that. I’d wager plenty ballplayers possess the ability to stand on different parts of the playing field with a glove and the rest of the necessary equipment.' Of course, we had him and still have Santana that fit that description. :-)
  16. While not technically a Twin anymore, he's something about Nunez http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/eduardo-nunez-and-the-case-of-the-minus-28/
  17. Here's an interesting article about Nunez http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/eduardo-nunez-and-the-case-of-the-minus-28/ One of my favorite lines from it: 'I can tell you that Eduardo Nunez has been worth 1.0 WAR in his career, and 1.6 WAR this year. He was technically just an All-Star, but he was an All-Star in the way that the guys who finished after Lance Armstrong during his doping years are Tour de France champions'.
  18. I know who both teams have there for options, but even so, neither team has gotten good production from that position, but okay.
  19. I'm pretty sure most people here are wanting a GM hired from outside the organization. I'm not sure I've read anyone argue other-wise. This trade of Nunez, IMO, was a good move and I'm not going to temper my opinion of it because it gets followed up by the decision to sit a prospect like Polanco on the bench again. Just like this Nunez trade doesn't say to me, 'Hey, maybe we should seriously consider Antony to permanently get the GM job.' If I had to guess, Antony said what he said about Polanco after talking to Molitor, who should have been let go with Ryan.
  20. Indeed! Along with Cy Young candidate Ricky Nolasco, :-)
  21. Seems a waste of Polanco. bring up a prospect like him to just sit? I don't want any more IFs in the OF though.
  22. I believe the guy on the right is Chet Lemon. Pretty good ballplayer if I remember correctly.
  23. yeah, I realized that and took it off my post. thanks. either way, having three SPs on a top 10 prospect list isn't new for us. It sure doesn't mean we're for sure going to have a really good rotation soon. They have to prove it here. And I was reading an update on MLB.coms' prospect watch listing a week or two ago and if had Gonsalves as like #97. As I look now, he's back out of it. They change it quite often, it seems.
