    I have zero issue when players who aren't even close to being HOFers drop off 1st time. Posada is one of those guys. Jim Edmonds, who had a legitimate argument to actually make the HOF, was gone after one ballot.

    Because just like our talent didn't warrant an 83 win season in 2015, it didn't warrant a 59 win season in 2016. Assuming we were an 83 win team in 2015, talent-wise, is what got people thinking we'd be playoff contenders in 2016 (yup, quite a few said that) and now some will figure we were actually a 59 win team, talent-wise, using the same 'logic'.

    It was a completely out of left field season and an unnecessary/early extension. It wasn't a good extension based on info available at the time. Hindsight (which, you know, wasn't hard to see coming) confirms it but wasn't necessary to see this was a bad decision. I don't care if a lot of people in here were on a high from his season and applauded the decision at the time because of that season, it was an obvious bad move (and using group think to say other-wise doesn't work either).

    We had very good sequencing in 2015 and bad sequencing in 2016. This team is a low 70 win type team. Could we win 80? Sure. If everything goes right like it did in May 2015.

    Congrats to Bagwell (can't even believe it took this long), IRod (only the 2nd catcher in history to get voted in on his first ballot) and Raines!!! And good job, HOF voters, for continuing to screw over Mussina and Schilling (among a few others).

    The Eaton trade didn't really seem lopsided to me. A VERY good player with 5 years of control is VERY valuable. And just because an organization is willing to trade a prospect doesn't mean there is something wrong with them. Dodgers know it takes real talent to get Dozier and De Leon is well thought of across prospect ratings. Like Cameron said, he doubts Dodgers trade De Leon for Forsythe because that's too me for a 2B like Forsythe.

    Exactly this. Don't want to vote? Remove yourself completely from the process. Guys like this and Chass need to just stop. But people are talking about guys like this, which is what I believe they are really striving for.

    I dont really bother much with MLB dot coms rankings. I prefer to just look at who the best propsects are, myself. To each their own. I look at it but give it the least amount of consideration.

    Mlb.com heavily favors prospects close to the majors/seen a bit of the majors.

    Rays rotation had 3rd best FIP in AL and highest K/9 in AL. Their bullpen was horrible.

    The Crown, IMO, is better (it's GREAT) and it's the most expensive show Netflix ever had. Victoria, though I love it, doesn't have the production quality of The Crown had so it's less grand (and when watching a show about royalty, it's worth noting). Victoria is also more soap opera like. It's a very good story, but it's a step below The Crown. It's like like it's trying to combine Downton Abbey and The Crown. I am looking forward to them expanding on the story that was told in 'Young Victoria', with Emily Blunt and Paul Bethany (which I'd also recommend). What's awesome about both of these, though, is the acting itself. Top notch acting from both.

    Of course, it could be the defensive metrics we are looking at when comparing Dozier and Murphy are ridiculous (making the WAR argument that Dozier is a better overall player ridiculous), and we can conclude Murphy was/is the superior player after all. :-)

    Yeah, I don't think it's that close, but we'll have to disagree on that point, I guess. Fangraphs had Murphy dead last for qualifying 2Bs for DRS and 19th out of 21 in UZR Seems like a lot of 'hate' for Murphy's defense from Fangraphs to me. I already said he was the worst defensive 2B in baseball. I already said Dozier was the better player last year and over the last 4, 3 and 2 seasons as well.

    wRC+ of 132 for Dozier. wRC+ of 156 for Murphy. Murphy was the better offensive player by quite a decent margin. Dozier is the better player when looking overall and over the last few years.

    In 2016, Dozier had a 132 wRC+ and Murphy had a 156 wRC+. I'd probably take Dozier who can play good defense and his wRC+ than Murphy with his 156 wRC+ and worst 2B defense in baseball. On top of that, Dozier has been more consistently good than Murphy. More WAR in the last 4 years, the last 3 years, last two years and last year. And Dozier is a bit younger.

    We are also in this situation because of Ryan Hunter wasn't traded. Santana wasn't traded soon enough, Span was traded for the wrong player, Cuddyer was never traded, Willingham was never traded and so on. And Ryan handpicked Smith (who got a lot of the quality talent we are counting on now in the international marker, BTW) Holding onto quality players too long and getting no value in return is a good way for a mid-small market team to stay down.

    yeah, it happens on my desktop every once in awhile too, but it happens with my phone quite often.
