  1. Vargas was the only guy who wanted to help Colabello from breaking his ankle?
  2. I like Santana a lot. He's one reason to tune into the game. He runs kind of like Rod Carew. He's sleek. He has a calm demeanor. He's 23 years old. However, I have to note that since June 11th he has hit .238. That's 26 games (105 at bats). Is he getting tired? Have pitchers caught up to him? Was he hitting over his head, and now he's settling down to ... what ... .275? I like to see that above .300 average, but the trend is that he is going to sink below it, and thus start disappointing us. On the other hand, go Santana. May you hit .320 this year.
  3. Did Hawk just say, "The one thing is, his right hand hit the bag before he tagged him." He is scraping me.
  4. I think Vargas hitting ahead of Arcia is inspired.
  5. Hawk used to scrape me like sandpaper, but now he's just sorta irritating. It could be because when the Sox are good his homerisms grate that much more.
  6. You seem to be some kind of prophet. I hope.
  7. Where do you come up with this stuff? I bought my last baseball glove in Grand Forks. Do you get it there?
  8. Zubaz were created in Minnesota. Back to the game ... Do the Twins have ANY outfield assists this year? Yikes.
  9. Abreu has hit safely in 39 of his last 40 games. Pretty good for a rookie. I think, though, "hitting streaks" should be rethought; if a player walks four times but doesn't get a hit one game his streak ends? That's Old Testament thinking.
  10. Kendrys. Kennys. I think we have an answer to a very trivial trivia question.
  11. Brian, I like your "wish upon a star" observation. But now I wish Vargas didn't have a hole in his glove.
  12. "He goen ... the good guys coming up to bat."
  13. And his WHIP has consistently been around 1.2, which fits my definition of pretty good.
  14. Steeler's Wheel! (I did not look it up.)
  15. Royal's announcers just said Hughes has the most run support of any pitcher since he came up with the damned Yankees.
  16. I think you're being optimistic on Kepler. He's doing nothing in the minors.
  17. I'm sad. I was excited when they signed Morales, but he's been mediocre. And now he's gone. Sad. And we pick up a middling middle reliever. Sad. It's not even winter and I'm sad. And now Morales will hit .400 for Seattle. You know it's true. Just sad. (Just kidding, kind of.)
  18. Happy birthday yesterday to Mr. Pryor. His minor league stats don't stand out. I have to think he's probably forgettable.
  19. Yes, I detassled corn there when I was a kid. Awful, big, awful fields of corn. But seriously, I didn't realize Oliva was 25.7 before he started his rookie champagne.
