    Appel is stupid for not signing. Boras and the other d-bag agents have jacking up salarys for years and they get it into these young players minds that they will make a ton of money. Boras probably had him convinced he'd be a top 3 pick and when it didn't happen, he gets upset. Really? 3.8 million isn't enough? And thats a signing bonus! Plus the Pirates would be a great team to get drafted by because they are on the upswing. I really hope this desicion bites Appel in the ass and makes other players think twice about signing these greedy agents.

    At this point I don't think it could hurt. If we get him cheap why not.

    From what it sounds like we didn't even offer the most money. The biggest draws where the two of them playing together, and playing in Minnesota. How often is playing in Minnesota a plus? Lets hope the Twins and others can get this type of street cred.

    This is one of my season tickets games. Co-worker is there right now. My seats are in the sun all game. He is going to roast! On topic lets hope the Twins can pull this one off and get the series.

    I'm so glad the Astros said no to Appel. Scott Boras has been destorying salaries for years and teams and standing up to him. He is only hurting his client at this point. I'd be shocked if the Pirates sign Appel at this point. Boras has warped that boy.

    Wow...love the Adam Walker pick. Player with the best power in the draft. Compared to Stanton? That would be something.

    None are the next Johan. Plus there were ZERO proven starters in this draft anyways. Like Minn55441 said draft good arms and see what happens.

    Relievers can turn into starters. Remember Santana was in the bullpen? Remember this is a draft. No player is a lock to make The Show.

    I orignally wanted him when Houston pasted on him. Today I'm glad we stuck with Buxton. Boras has screwed over Appel. I don't even see him signing with the Pirates. Appel didn't sound happy that they took him, why would he want to come here?

    I like the bio-mechanical idea. It could really help a young pitcher change his mechanics early if it will help him in the long run.

    Yes Appel is a no-brainer. This place would explode if we get the chance to draft Appel and don't.

    None of them are sure things. That is the biggest problem with this draft. Typical we have a high draft pick and the field is weak.

    I want a pitcher as well, but after Appel there is no one who truely stands out. Even Appel might not be a stud. Buxton is probably the safest pick.

    I want us to take a pitcher, but with Appel gone do we really want Zimmer? Buxton might be the safest bet. It's the draft though there are no true safe bets.
