  1. I feel good for the young man. Keeping the dream alive, even though it's not MLB, is never a bad thing for the vast majority of us. Good for him!
  2. Sidebar note. It appears as though there may be one less suitor for Joe Ryan. It appears as though the Red Sox have just acquired former Twin Sonny Gray from the Cards to fill their starter hole. Not sure if that means much in the big picture, but it certainly could.
  3. I agree with the 2nd part of your comment. This trade just isn't significant enough in any way to get very worked up over. As they say, it is what it is, and nothing more.
  4. Because it's likely that Vazquez, or any other catcher in his general class, would likely cost well more than that per season, without providing markedly better offense and/or defense. Transaction was a big "meh" for me.
  5. The AL version of the Rockies? I hope not, but can't rule out the possibility.
  6. Our first entrant in this off-season's dumpster diving "war". Yippee! I agree there's a good likelihood he ends up on the opening day roster. Hopefully, he can amount to something that's even semi-useful. But I'm not holding my breath waiting for that to happen.
  7. I agree wholeheartedly. Any organization, in any sport, that wants to maintain any amount of respectability amongst its peers (which most, if not all, do), will almost always let employees interview for any position that could or would be considered a promotion. Especially if they appear to show an aptitude for it, which looks like the case here. While I admittedly don't know much at all about the Boston organization, I have to believe that they operate under the same principle. Even if they'd hate to lose him, they're unlikely to stand in the way of a promotion opportunity that they're not in a current position to offer.
  8. Which is not what we either want or need. Which is not to say that I disagree with the premise of your post, because I do agree.
  9. However, they just named Skip Shumaker (sp) manager, who was considered a higher profile option.
  10. Might it mean he may soon be relieved of his POBO responsibilities??
  11. Someone had to be the scapegoat and Rocco was the most logical choice. Couldn't fire everyone on the 26 man roster, plus the Pohlads and Falvey weren't going anywhere, so Rocco was waved goodbye.
  12. Not really. Your logic is more than a little screwed up. Managers write the lineup cards, not the players.
  13. I'd do 2 thumbs up, if i could. One will have to do.
  14. Do you have any verifiable proof that he's specifically choosing not to play? I rather doubt it. Sounds more like you're just looking for something to rant and rave about and this just fell into your lap. I happen to agree fully with mnfireman.
  15. Guessing it was Rocco's choice to not be in the starting lineup. And, for the record, Buck was the DH yesterday.
  16. Other bonuses seem to be tied to where he finishes in the AL MVP voting. I would certainly think he'll get at least some down ballot votes there.
  17. I thought I'd heard that he just passed plate appearance bonus a day or two ago, which would have been at least the second earned bonus this season. I don't believe that the next bonus level was close enough to attain today in any reasonable or realistic scenario.
  18. I don't see it happening, but it's a nice thought.
