  1. Join Seth and I tonight at 8:30 as we're joined by ESPN1500's Brandon Warne. We'll recap the flurry of activity we've seen since last Tuesday night as well as wrap up what's been going on in the catching market over the last couple of days. I'm sure we'll also talk about starting pitching and deviate from the plan that we have. [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK] If you have any questions you would like for us to answer, please feel free to leave them in the comments below, or ask them in the chat screen during the live show. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/CKhkNsn8aNk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> If we have time, we'll talk about the Twins Hall of Fame ballot and maybe even MLB's ballot that was released early last week.
  2. I think they'll all settle, but I don't think that's on the horizon. They'll just tender them contracts tonight... the exchange of figures doesn't happen until January, I don't believe.
  3. I'm gonna do some research on this. I think there is more to it. The contract that Fryer signed now is no different than the ones the rest of the 40-man will sign in the spring, some of which will be removed from the roster without penalty. My gut feeling is that this contract isn't guaranteed. If he were placed on waivers, the team would have to pick up this contract. If he clears, he's off the 40-man, but is still paid the MiLB portion. Likely meaning, he's no less likely to be outrighted off (besides the fact that the Twins though enough to get his deal done now).
  4. Players that were just added to the 40-man can't be taken off until some time during spring training. That eliminates Darnell and Kepler, who were mentioned above. I would also assume Ibarra fits that category too, even though he was added earlier.
  5. Escobar is safe. I'm sure Seth and I will tackle this tonight in our hangout. Without too much research, I think Mastro, Colabello and Albers are three in danger.
  6. Power Alley on MLB Network Radio. I was simply commented on what they said. These are baseball people -it's there job- and they sounded ridiculous trying to sum up the signing. If the Twins paid the going rate, which is what they said, why question the terms of the contract? I'm also not a huge fan of ERA, especially with Nolasco who advanced metrics suggest is better than his ERA shows. He also was a #4 starter last year, sure... on a staff with two Cy Young winners. The way I look at pitchers is if they'd start in a 5-game playoff series and I'd feel good about Nolasco in game 3.
  7. I was listening to Power Alley this morning and they repeatedly called Nolasco a #4 starter on a good team. They questioned the length. They questioned the money. But then came full circle at the end when they said, "Who else are they gonna start (chuckles)?" And agreed he's the best pitcher on the staff and they paid the going-rate for a starting pitcher with the ability to go a lot of innings. You know what they cite? ERA. It could be worst though, they could cite wins.
  8. I like Navarreto a lot more than most (he was a personal cheeseball of mine), but I still have Turner ranked higher. (He made my top 20; Navaretto never was even strongly considered.) Of course all prospect lists are dependent on how you view ceiling/floors of certain players. There is a chance Navaretto could reach his ceiling and be an All-Star, but it's slim, while it's likely Turner makes the major leagues and at the least be a defensively-strong back-up catcher. If he hits at all, he's a second-divison regular at worst and that could happen as soon as the summer of 2015. Anyway, I came here to play the game and here are my choices in reverse alphabetical order: Alex Wimmers: I think/hope Wimmers is able to get his changeup back. His fastball might not be as good as it was, but if he can get his changeup back to even 80% of what it used to be, he'll be a guy that recoups some of the value that he had. I still haven't given up hope that he can be a serviceable starter and even stick in a big-league bullpen if he's drafted in the Rule 5 draft, though another fall procedure did set him back a little bit. He should still be ready to go when Spring Training roles around. I'd like to see the Twins make him a non-roster invite. Tyler Stirewalt: Raw, but electric. It wouldn't shock me if we saw Stirewalt get a chance to start, but I think his home is at the back of the bullpen. His fastball/slider mix might become the talk of the minor league camp - if it wasn't the talk of instructs already. Miguel Antonio Gonzalez: Gonzalez was the big addition in the 2011 International class... and he totally sucked in the DSL in 2012. He moved to the bullpen in the GCL last year and was lights out. I hope he gets another shot to start and wouldn't be shocked if he made it to Cedar Rapids this year. Brian Gilbert: Gilbert's gonna be a stud. He's a bulldog. Yet I'm not sure if I want to see him every fifth day or at the end of games. I agree with Thrylos, though his stuff is different, he might end the year closer to the bigs than any of us expected. Lewin Diaz: My only hitter... and probably a cheap one. Diaz is going to be so much better in the GCL than Minier was this year. I'm hoping they at least give him a shot to play his way out of the outfield and to first base, but even if he has to play 1B, he has the hit tool to settle there. (On an aside: I would like to see the Twins keep Minier in the GCL and move Diaz and Minier together... maybe to E-town later in the summer.)
  9. According to Tim Dierkes, the Twins are close! Name unknown. Carry on with your day.
  10. It also allows me to call an agent a "scumbag". Something Mike Berardino couldn't do last night.
  11. All of the phases of the Rule 5 draft go until all teams pass. I am fairly certain that the Astros had two Rule 5 guys on their Opening Day roster this past year. (Or at least leading up to Opening Day.)
  12. Seth and I had a quite long discussion with Mike Berardino tonight about Pelfrey. You can view it in Episode 3 (link on the frontpage).
  13. Dealing with some technical stuff right now... hoping to be live in a few minutes... hang in there...
  14. I'm not sure who runs the TD G+ account. Parker, maybe?

  16. Technical difficulties backed up kickoff about 10 minutes, but we were able to speak with the Pioneer Press's Mike Berardino for about an hour on Tuesday night. You probably already know that he's a pretty knowledgeable dude and he'd make any stathead's night. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/4Zbm6BoX-MU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> We also talked about the free agent market and a whole lot of other things Twins. Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and we'll see you again next Tuesday night! [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK] Please let us know what you thought about the show. If you'd rather watch on YouTube, you can view .
  17. All of this week's moves have been reflected. Next update will involve the correct (or correct as it can get) Winter League rosters.
  18. I haven't gone about converting them into audio files. Its on the agenda, but first I'm working on the audio/video part of it. You can view them afterwords though on YouTube or the embedded player above.
  19. Post them here. Or on the YouTube page. Or send them to me on Twitter.
  20. We can shelf the role-playing for awhile... but I'll make no promises that it won't return at some point. I've been told I was working blue twice since last night. I had never heard the phrase before... have I been under a rock?
  21. I'm just proud of you for sticking it out til the end! I need more of a Clint Eastwood voice if I'm gonna pass as TR too. I can dig a PG-13 rating... that's where I'd rather be anyway!
  22. You will actually be able to watch the Hangout live at 830. The link will be posted later this evening.
