  1. I am catching up on TIVO. That was one lousy attempt at a double play. I have seen better footwork at a barn dance at 2 am!
  2. There must be like 15 or 20 Molinas catching! Why don't we have one?
  3. Maybe a MBB thread? It would have my attention!
  4. I can crack the code, but as my dad once said to my mother...... Bernadette, if I have to explain it to you, I just don't know what I am going to do!
  5. If that horse is with Hannah, "why the long face"?
  6. It's my guess your bride did not forget?
  7. And why would anyone want to get back to Chicago?
  8. And if it is carried away, and lands in Lk. Michigan it will likely float............... For awhile!
  9. My copy of the thread has only 8 players. I realize winning breeds confidence, but spotting them a CF might be overplaying our hand!
  10. . I was not in favor of signing Suzuki from the very beginning. There might be no bigger Suzuki disliker (is that a word) than I! And your analysis that Mauer is still a superior catcher is likely very accurate. But the scenario where Mauer returns to catching, and meh, if he gets concussed again we can just collect the insurance, is at best unconscionable. One could hypothesize, and suggest if Mauer's health was of that import, he should just retire. Or the Twins should release him and pay his salary. Neither are going to happen. A deal is a deal. And a bad deal, is still a deal!
  11. Polanco might have two problems. His arm strength and Dozier. Many look at him as a second baseman. Also, I want defense to be the determining factor at that position, not hitting. Both are great of course, but I don't want to appear greedy!
  12. I liked your point about The differences in Vargas' stats depending on his spot in the batting order. I am a firm believer that numbers will not necessarily replicate themselves in any spot in the order. It's why I would not move Dozier to 3or 4.
  13. Things have changed for the better. Gardy had grown stale to the players. Molitor has infused some energy. I still dislike the Hunter signing, but he has injected a little life in a staid bunch. But I still think it was a mistake long term. And I say long term because if you don't think the Twins will extend him, you have not been watching the Twins. I am a little puzzled about why the team (FO) thought they had a winner? Adding a 40 yr old OF and a middle aged, mid level pitcher does not exactly over haul a team with the recent record this one has had.
  14. You took the words right out of my IPad! Why exactly is he starting? This outfit is always trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. And NO, I am not comparing Lester to a hogs audio receptical attachment.
  15. To have 56,000 eyes watching, quite a few fans must have had that extra eye in the middle of their forehead. Like the ones the Twilight Zone aliens often featured. Accounting for 28,000 eager tongues would require me to go further into the science fiction archives. Besides, I think in the Bible it said "an eager tongue is the devils workshop"? Or something like that.
  16. Some guys don't do well in certain spots.they let the spot they hit in change their approach. And there is more self inflicted pressure if you are put in a middle of the order spot. Not everyone is mentally suited for it.
  17. Sell high just for once. Or maybe we could repeat the Suzuki experience?
  18. I am never surprised by anything the Twins do. But it would seem odd that they just put EE back at SS, and then sit him a game with the future guy here for one day. If it was Gardy, I know Polance would pinch run in the 9th. It will be interesting to see what Molly does.. EE back to left field?
  19. As it has been the whole season, the Twins are going to have to get worse, to get better. As long as they keep winning, even if it seems implausible, they will not make a move to improve. (Please don't consider Escobar one). So the conundrum continues. From a franchise future perspective, they would have been far better off continuing the first week of the year, and did a rebuild. Now if they remain in contention, ??? They can't, or won't make any significant changes.
  20. In the words of the great baseball analyst, Alfred E. Neumann. "WHAT, ME WORRY".
  21. It is becoming more prevelant in MLB for managers with no experience to be hired. (This is not a knock on Molitor). This leaves the GM more completely in charge, than if he hired a manager with a few years under his belt, and an opinionated track record. There was Ryan/Gardy, and now Ryan/Molitor. The constant is Ryan. Which makes it my contention that the roster construction is mostly Ryan's doing. And while I have absolutely no problem with Molitor being hired, the thought has occurred to me that one of Dougie's liabilities was his outspoken attitude. Which makes me wonder if TR thought he would be too difficult to control, when it came to roster decisions.
  22. There are a lot of opinions and good ideas on here, and very proactive ones. And while Polanco is a possibility for Santana, I am not sure what else will happen. Where is there any history of TR making aggressive wholesale changes in a roster, especially a winning one. If they keep winning you might see a tweaking of the bullpen, and Sanatana will replace a SP. Pinto? They sent him down to get back in shape, on track, he hit the crap out of the ball, and they left him there. As for Hunter, if he stays half decent, he will be back next year. It's the Twins way! Stauffer? Sucked in Rocherster, and gets brought right back. Two days later Rob Anthony said that Arcia would have to earn his way back. No more injured players getting in a couple games, then back. For the Twins, seniority and contracts rule, and always have.
  23. I never understood Texas either, and I never wil.
  24. Roy just said Kennys needed to go down and get straightened out? That's the same thing the judge said to me just before sentencing!
