  1. While 105 seems far away, I think if we try, we can do it Saturday!
  2. The drive for 105, remains alive!
  3. I see what you did there! Looks like we will have to turn in next season! But my money is on Garver.
  4. What was that catchers name we got from NY? JR Ewing, or something? Has anyone saw him?
  5. You're just crabby because Robbie didn't get to hit 5, and got shoved all the way down to............ Oh, never mind!
  6. Hopefully we continue our efforts at consistency, and do not get complacent. Our goal should be to end up not just with the already clinched number one pick, but also to be the only team in baseball whose winning percentage starts with a 3!
  7. My wife goes yearly to a weekend thing in Northern MN. For some unknownst reason she chose target shooting as an activity. Sadly she is a remarkable shot for someon with no background in the gun culture. I have developed not only a new found respect and admiration for her, but also new hiding places for the .22 single shot!
  8. The blessing in disguise that is the 100, and counting I might add, season is that it required the Pohlads to finally get off the dime. Or off something! With the exception of pitching, there is either some talent, or some trade chips to right some wrongs here. While I don't know what the new guys will do, I do know Ryan would have at best made cosmetic changes, and shot for a .500 finish, and a second WC. Also, if you're gonna be bad. Be epic!
  9. Can Polanco play short for the Twins? Sure he can. Will he embarrass himself, or the team? Doubtful. His bat is not in question, but his glove is a variation of Nunez, EE, Santana, and likely below Florimons. Maybe the real question is not whether Polanco can play SS for this team, it's whether he should? Don't get me wrong, I like Polanco as a baseball player. But the reason I would roll the dice, and put what many say are better glove men at SS like Gordon or Vielma is that Polanco isn't the kind of SS that will contribute to a winning team. Move him to second next year, audition him there, and the others at SS. Another thought. On how many other MLB teams, would he replace the incumbent?
  10. I would keep Santana, maybe flip him during the season, if as expected we remain mediocre. Berrios for sure, as said its sink or swim. Rochester is just delaying a decision. He may not end up and ace, but still be very serviceable. May gets a shot at redemption. Gibson, probably, if for no other reason than its going to take time to sort this out. For the rest, it's open competition, and by open, I mean open, not contract related. Sadly, I bet someone will open a very similar thread next fall.
  11. I hope you are correct in your belief that they will find the right people. But all you have to do is look at the rest of the Twin Cities ML spors teams, and college one, to see how very difficult it is, and what the odds are.the jury is still out on all of them except it seems the Vikings. That's beginning to look like a competent ML operation that will give itself a chance to win. The Wolves and Lynx are owned by the same guy, and are a perfect example of what happens when you make the wrong choice in the FO.
  12. I didn't think this team was going to be good this year, but no way did I ever think it would be such an unmitigated disaster. In a perverse fashion they earned almost every loss with some failure in any of the games various disciplines!
  13. I might add, Susan Dey would easily surpass any standards so far exhibited on GT!
  14. GT has standards? Who'da thunk?
  15. ..........and leave the driving to us.
  16. I have converted to O'Douls and iced tea! . The thought of a hangover gives me a headache! Edit: Not at the same time.
  17. Looks like another 23k crowd tonight... I see the 23" but I can't find the k anywhere.
  18. First? You mean there was more than one?
  19. I have been grumbling, virtually since I have been on TD that the Twins were just another line on the top of the Pohlad Companies stationary. And the two letters in the alphabet that conerned them were not WL, but PL. I also contended that Hunter was not a strategic move, but another "Experience" investment, like a new Polish Sausage stand. An attempt to lure the casual baseball rube into the clutches of Target Enterprises. The fact that the P&L finally forced a move is sadly not a sign that anything has changed. I really really hope I am wrong. I have been a fan since they moved here. But I fear that Ryan was simply another Hunter type move, to be replaced by someone else who will acquiesce to the Pohlad Way. Pohlads determination to keep Molitor will be a red flag to baseball oriented competent GM candidates, but will not deter someone who is bottom line inclined, and wants to work the ladder. JHC, I really hope I am wrong!
  20. . It would be the ultimate topping to the season! A wins streak and roar past Atlanta for that second pick!
  21. Happy Birhtday! . That said I am very disappointed in your dog. Weather experts could have told him that you never try and outrun a tornado in a vehicle. Our dog, Lathy, (he barked with a lithp) led us to the SW corner of the basement during the Comfrey Tornado of 1998, and showed us how to put our head between our legs. (Only years later did we find he had an ulterior motive) While Lathy had an acute weather sense, he suffered from gender issues. A dog psychologist finally figured out that when Lathy would bark, our constant question, "Whats the matter girl" was likely the root of the problem.
  22. I got the impression on yesterday's radio broadcast the Polanco Ole'd yet another hot GB? His arm is better than I thought it would be, but not anywhere near "strong". It would play well at second. I would move Dozier, for a decent SP if possible or for a very good glove SS, to fill in until or if Gordon or Vielma show up. Polanco is the SS that teams that go 81-81 have. So, if that's our ultimate goal, he's the guy.
  23. A break? Or did they sign someone whose SO numbers could only increase at this level? What I find interesting about the Twins, is they take someone like a Walker or Palka, and contend he can't play MLB because his SO rate will likely increase from an almost unacceptable level already. Yet they spend 25M? for someone from a lower level ball with essentially the same weakness? I sure hope it's just the wrist!
  24. Parker>>>> "As far as Dozier's future, you're right, it's likely to regress next year simply because this was a career year and opponents will spend all winter figuring out a strategy to keep him from beating them -- just like they did at the end of last season when they went away-away-away and this season when they stayed away and shifted the infield until he proved he could beat it. ". I watch where the catcher sets up, not where the pitch ends up. I still see them sitting outside, even emphasizing the spot with a hand wave etc. And pitchers endlessly leaving the ball up and middle in. While Dozier is on an almost ridiculous streak of not missing his pitch, he is getting a plethora of them to swing at. He has improved laying of the two strike off the plate stuff, but I have not understood the reluctance to STAY out there by pitchers. So he hits a single once in awhile? A BB? Or feed him a piped FB? To me it's a duh. IMHO, pitchers who work down, and away, have a pretty good chance of succeeding, those who's ego, or lack of control cause them to throw FB middle in don't.
