  1. Why didn't you include Lee Majors in that pic?
  2. How often do I use the words Peony and Grower in a sentence? Never! .
  3. This is what has really been missing from the Twims offense! Opposition errors. It not easy scoring runs when you have to get all those pesky hard to come by hits!
  4. But what if you combined them, and the dinosaurs ate the Pirates? On a more serious note, would the Peonies be the world champions, or the growers?
  5. It's a logical option, until Plouffe and or Mauer is moved. But in the long view of things Sano's ultimate value is at third. Until or if he washes out there, he stays there. An introductory phase at DH is fine. But putting him in the OF would be a wash between runs produced and allowed. If you are lucky.
  6. Both these are true. IMNSHO! Sano is a far better alternative to work into the lineup than we have been sending out there. BUT, enthusiasm and anticipation should be tempered with historical realism. Even Mike Trout struggled. As will Buxton, Sano, Polanco, Santana, Vargas, and yes even Arcia. As did Morneau and Puckett. My point being, I don't think we will win anymore games with those guys than the current crop. Nor any less, and we get some acclimation time under their belts.
  7. I may sound like a curmudgeon, maybe age has softened me. But, I would not give up much if anything. To me it's not the winning one last game, it's about playing well, being competitive, and of course being entertaining. Seasons that run into late September with you watching other box scores to see how the Sox or Tigers did. Games 163's. Great players. If you don't it all, you don't win it all. 7 months of effort, and excitement should not be diminished by losing the last game of the year. Sure it'll suck for a few days, but think of how enjoyable getting up every morning and checking scores was all summer. as my four yr old granddaughter says "it's not all about winning"
  8. Everything in pro sports is about ticket sales. Hunter, the reunion tours, Mauer's contract, firing Gardy, signing name brand mediocre mid level pitchers, even being a contender is about ticket sales. I realize this sounds sarcastic, but it's not meant to be. Fan attention drives all revenue.
  9. I want to see Sano here. And I realize that there are two available spots for him, Mauer and Plouffe. Someone suggested a rotation of the three. Fine if you keep Sano off first. I would imagine his head would be spinning enough without having to stand somewhere else in the field on top of everything else. As for the suggestions that he just come up here and head to left field? We been dere, and done dat!
  10. The bad news is this losing streak is bringing the team back to earth. The good news is it is forcing TR to step up his normally glacial pace in roster reconstruction. 18 months from now, we might look back at this June as for what it is, a blessing in disguise. The vast majority of prognosticators, even the home town ones, put .500 ball as the apex this team would/could achieve. Then during the winning streak, the peripherals just didn't support it. So there should be no suprise here. This is a classic case of having to get bad to eventually get better. I feel bad for Mauer. He is a shell of his former self. Today there are floating rumors of Sano sightings in the future. I cannot believe he will come here to DH. Mauer to the post concussion list? Plouffe to first? Stay tuned.
  11. The natives are getting restless! Has it occurred to anyone that this is where this team should be, as it relates to the talent on the field. Mauer excepted. And I say that because there is obviously something amiss with him. I don't think anyone foresaw him losing this much production. Now that does not absolve the field staff for continuing to run him out in the 3 hole every day. That's on Molitor. As for the rest. Hunter much better than anticipated, and Dozier continuing a slightly unlikely upward curve. As for the rest of the rest? Where is there going to be any offense from? Buxton, Rosario, Santana, Vargas, and Arcia are young players who just need to play. And struggle. But Shafer, Robinson, Escobar, Suzuki, Hicks, Hermann, et al, are what they are. Teams are no longer making key errors to fuel rallies, and thinking you can continue bunching hits at that level is not a reality. There is athletic talent here, and in the minors. But it ain't gonna happen overnight. Look to Gibson and May as examples. It's taken them awhile to become respectable. Keep filtering in the yang talent, let them acclimate, and enjoy the effort. This is and should be a transition year. To view it, or heaven forbid to oversee it as anything else than that is shortsighted.
  12. I am not sure what makes less sense.... The horse jokes, playing hockey in June, or the Mauer AB
  13. Busted! My wife does this to me all the time. I still haven't learned either!
  14. Duensing guarantees another month on the roster?
  15. I wish my 4 yr old granddaughter didn't have to go to bed so early! She loves jokes like this!
  16. I am catching up on TIVO. That was one lousy attempt at a double play. I have seen better footwork at a barn dance at 2 am!
  17. There must be like 15 or 20 Molinas catching! Why don't we have one?
  18. Maybe a MBB thread? It would have my attention!
  19. I can crack the code, but as my dad once said to my mother...... Bernadette, if I have to explain it to you, I just don't know what I am going to do!
  20. If that horse is with Hannah, "why the long face"?
  21. It's my guess your bride did not forget?
  22. And why would anyone want to get back to Chicago?
  23. And if it is carried away, and lands in Lk. Michigan it will likely float............... For awhile!
