  1. Thank god you know the correct spelling of Piston!
  2. I read the big guy himself will be there. If you want it done right, you gotta do it yourself!
  3. Is there a good summer to get married??
  4. It's important to understand that Milone IS a soft tossing lefty. #2 would be my choice, Milone or no Milone. I also think that both Milone and May are past learning in AAA. They have to learn what works here. Pelf is a bullpen type pitcher. If you don't get that out of him. Then it might be time to move on.
  5. Over the years, one of the commonly lamented results of the 13 man staff, or a lingering injury, is the "short bench" . But that bench is seldom used. And if they start a sub, it's like it's a sacrilege to use the normal starter in an end of game emergency. Heaven forbid an end of the bullpen pitcher pinch running to avoid a forfeit. The bottom line is the bench is much shorter if you sit on a guy for the emergency that might occur twice a year. (See the three catcher rule). If the bench was used with a little more creativity, and more concern for its composition I doubt it would contain the current mix of players. So while I don't agree with Bernier here, the way the bench is currently be handled it's almost a moot point of who fills spot 25.
  6. I would bet you one of them Target Field Polish sausages from the place I can't spell and a beer, that Suzuki has to reside below the Medoza line for weeks before he gets replaced. He fits the Twins profile to a T. He has limited ability, plays hard, gets just enough results to appear effective, and is likely a good all around guy. And in some games he's your #5 stick!
  7. I don't want to get into a non concurring dispute with "The Chief" as he is my idol, plus my parents always told me to respect my elders! . But I think realism is part of management, at least it better be. Realism to me is that this team is not contender material. The rest of the parts are in Rochester and Chattanooga. This likely puts the Twins in a dilemma. The current talent can't keep winning, and blowing up the roster will take acclimation time to produce results. To slowly rebuild the roster in the glacial "Twins Way" will only prolong mediocrity. While one could say mediocrity is an improvement, it should not be a teams mission statement.
  8. This would be a typical Twins decision, bring in Hunter to go from 72 wins to 80?? And slow the development of the future. And this is not a commentary on Hunter, it's a point about having some vision of the future, instead of treading water in the present.
  9. If they could teach someone to be more mobile, I would have run the 440 in the Olympics. I think he knows how to field his position, he just is not athletic enough. He is basically a DH, a position which the AL offers. Other teams try and find that type of hitter, and that's where they leave him. Most teams don't shuffle light hitting utility hitters into the DH spot to get AB"s. You want to give Mauer a day off his feet? Move Plouffe over there, and put one of our many utility players at third. It showcases his flexibility. If one does the math, something is going to have to give in the next year with Sano and Buxton and Polanco making moves necessary.
  10. That you will now be flipping it 11 times?
  11. it does make for unwieldy lineups and poor defense on the corners. But the players I listed are not good defensive players, where they are playing, ie EE. Robinson might be the exception. In almost no other orginisation would a Pinto not be here as the number #2 catcher, DH, PH. Getting enough AB's to stay warm. I don't disagree with the fact there might be some trades to make. But first you have to come to the conclusion that you really can have too many poor hitting utility men. And, that every player that is not starting at his position can just be shuffled off to another spot at whim.
  12. And we haven't even discussed the mess when Stauffer and Fien comes back.
  13. If the Twins were to lose both these games, I would think Terry Ryan would pull out all of his hair!
  14. Sending Vargas to Rochester fills the Twins need to field lineups like they did today. What other team would bat a Suzuki or Escobar in the 5 hole? Sure you can get away with it for awhile, ie, small sample size. But it's not sustainable. Twins fans can rejoice this little run all they want, it's even kinda fun. The little engine that could. But it's going to get very costly down the road. Sooner or later they are going to have to bite the bullet and straighten out this roster. You cannot continue to be a home for the Hermanns, Shafers, Nunez, and Robinsoms of the world. Nor can you just throw EE in LF because he needs a place to play. You throw big hitters in those spots, and hope the offense balances their shortcomings.
  15. anyone but Brian I would ask where it was implanted! But in this case that's NOT a good idea!
  16. Josmil Pinto might take exception to your second paragraph?
  17. Don't you think 12 year olds have outgrown TDGT?
  18. Will your next move be to Grand Island NE. I see a theme here!
  19. It could have something to do with the company you keep.
  20. I thought Torii was going to mentor Oswaldo on that overhang!
  21. I am interviewing for a job as a Major League Baseball scout. To showcase my knowledge I am going to point out that you don't throw high fastballs to Brian Dozier!
