  1. Haha, 6 years. You lost me at and TR at multiple years. I could see going 3-4 years for a pitcher in free agency, but six is stupid. I don't think anyone, except a hometown hero who plays a premium position and is a sure fire hall of famer, is worth 6 years. Especially with the frequency of Tommy John surgeries nowadays.
  2. In July only a couple of teams looking to add, but before April many teams need a power hitter. But if trading Span is their preference--so be it! The Twins have a bevy of other CF options, but power hitting options?--none. I am going to have to disagree with you on that. Teams are going to be able to go out and sign anyone they want before April. With two extra teams making the playoffs, I see the demand for Power higher in July. I don't see anyone yearning for Hammer as you may be able to find someone who can hit AND play defense. Once the season starts we will see injury as well as players underperforming. A bat like Willinghams will come in handy then and teams may disregard his defense. CF seems to be much more important to these teams and after Bourn and Hamilton are gone Span might be next. If a team calls on Revere and offers a decent package or a pitcher, take it.
  3. Execs dont think the hammer as valuable because his defense is atrocious. Best bet is to wait until midseason when teams are desperate for a right handed power bat. Trade span now and then see if u can get a pitching prospect in july for willingham the great
  4. The AL switch is going to be tough, but he spent the last two months in the AL last year. I think he rebounds from the last two months last year and is a solid pitcher. Sign him, sign another low level, Baker type, trade for one, then call it good.
  5. I think I like it...2 years maybe, a stop gap. Would I prefer someone younger than 35...yes. But the way he pitched for the dreadful Cubs last year should show us that he still has it. But an inquiry is much different than "talks."
  6. Nice zone of proximal development self. I agree 100 % with the argument. No reason to rush him when his defense needs so much work and he still strikes out at a very high rate. Just to throw some more teaching jargon out there for you...bringing Sano up at a slow pace may be the "least restrictive environment," but also may trigger a "looking glass self" as he performs to level he is at. If he were to be put into a situation where he is facing better compition, who is to say he doesn't step up the the plate (baseball cliche)?
  7. Can't we have both Marcum AND Shields? Why is everyone so angry. Lets inquire about both men and see where that INQUIRY gets us?
  8. I think we should inquire about this. Go Twins!!!
  9. Span is too much for Shields? Get a grip, people. Well sure. Go ahead. Trade the best asset for what you could get on the free agent market. Marcum and Greinke would make about the same money as Shields is getting now and they are both better. I'd rather forfeit a draft pick than Span. Shields is a free agent after 2014 too. So if you're someone who would dislike an Elvis Andrus deal, this is for you. Marcum will get less money and probably only 1 or 2 years. Greinke will get way more than Shields salary next year and for many more years...Your comment may be correct if you average Greinke and Marcum next year, than you are probably correct. Oh ya, and I'd rather have the draft pick
  10. I've got a little bit of an off topic question here, but what are the chances we trade Span for a mid to upper level pitching prospect? A few people, ok a lot of people on this site seem to think the Twins will not compete next year. I happen to lean towards the school of thought that they will not compete. The free agent market is full of overpriced, peaking or on the decline pitchers. Is anyone going to give us a top (50-100 nationally rated) prospect? I would almost prefer a pitching prospect or two instead of a major league pitcher like Shields for 2 years.
  11. Haha, so you wanted to sign Buerle to that monster deal in his late thirties? Come on lets get real. Yes the Twins inquired about people, and in a free market, that is all you can do. Lets start throwing stones after the winter meetings people. Don't be pissed off because we didn't trade for Ervin Santana, who is probably well into his 30's for all we know. The Twins tried but often times these deals come back to bite teams in the bum. We sign Joe Mauer long term and people scream bloody murder two years down the road. I guess your damned if you do damned if you don't for the Twins front office (who I may add built a playoff contender for the better part of a decade). How about we do this...overpay for guys on the free agent market because the fans want it. Then the Twins fans will call for the GM's head because said player is way overpaid and should not have been given such a huge contract. Make up your mind fairweather Twins fans.
  12. Yup, Galaxy III actually. And the site is unusable while using Google Chrome. Something with the ads on the side don't go well with the the chrome operating system. It's like tequilla and coke...they don't mix all that well (Tequilla with anything other than margarita's don't mix really)
  13. We already signed Baker for 3 years...this thread must be in the past.
  14. My sources are telling me that Josh Hamilton is close to a 6 year contract worth 140 million dollars. Right now, Hamilton is also considering a contract from the Royals, Padres, and Pirates. I am told he is leaning Twins because Minneapolis has the least amount of strip joints and downtown is kind of...eah? (not that great). Baker on the other hand, has not been signed. My sources have said they have no idea how the situation is going and told me there is no indication of any talks going on.
  15. Even Boof made it to the majors and showed some promise. That might be one of the best trades in the modern baseball era. Second only to the swap of 125,000 (1.45 million today) for this something named Babe Ruth.
  16. Yes but scratch Baker and Gibson, we will sign Roger Clemens by the All Star Break.
  17. We need to draft MI and SP only. No more Relief Pitchers, outfielders, or corner outfielders. Maybe a few catchers now and then. The next stud SS for the Twins will be the first in my 25 year lifetime.
  18. "The Twins have traded Oswaldo Arcia, Aaron Hicks, Miguel Sano, Kyle Gibson, and a player to be named later (Byron Buxton), for Alex Rodriquez." According to my sources the deal is pending a physical by A-Rod. Welcome to the Twins A-Rod.
  19. Still waiting for an anouncement...I have another story I am going to break right now. "Zack Greinke has been signed by the Twins. Six Years 125 million. The news will break after Friday morning, according to my sources."
  20. Let me first say I am totally against trading for Buehrle. But, I think we are all forgetting how good he was for so long. The dude is a gamer. How many games did we pay to go to, that he turned into less than a 2 hour affair. I was so excited to finally get to Target field the first July it was open. I was also excited because Pavano and Buerle were pitching...two of the most efficient at that time. I had been drinking (at keys and then Huberts) for most of the day and was ready for a nice long game of beer drinking. All I remember was sitting down, realizing how beautiful Target Field was, and all of a sudden it was the 7th inning stretch. Both pitchers went the distance and it was, and I believe still is, the shortest game in Target Field history. The Twins won, but I lost. My stats for the game were two 8 dollar beers. I had brought plenty of cash to have 10 but the time just went to fast. What were we talking about again... O ya Buerle pitches super fast and I think could still be a great pitcher in the American League. I also was at the game at the MetroDome where he had a hitless streak of like 15 innings going. Then, of all people, Alexi "biggest dip-lip" Cassilla came up and sliced a base hit. I want to say he also scored and we ended up knocking him out that game. This guy needs to be a Twin, if the Marlins eat a huge chunk of that salary and we get him for a C prospect, I am in... Did I just talk myself into a deal for Mark Buerle and his massive contract...YUP!!
  21. Yes, but not just that, he would need "Angels in the Outfield" to help with his non-sinking meatballs.
  22. I would be surprised.
  23. My guess is it wouldn't cost all that much to get one of these guys. The Angels wouldn't ask that much because everyone knows these options will not be picked up. If a team threw in a B- or C+ kind of guy, my guess is they would take it. I think they are hoping two teams bid up the price. If only one team comes calling, the other team has all the leverage.
