    He's under team control the for '26 and '27, give him a 1B glove and put him there. There are no 1B in the system ready or close (if any at all) and the team has an abundance of OF prospects on the way.

    The bigger problem was that the league made adjustments and the prospects did not (Wallner and Lewis are following Julien, Mirada, et al down this path) or the prospects never panned out or were not given a decent shot. Rooker left the organization and has figured it out, is this his development or Oakland's (Athletics Baseball Team) coaching staff? This team is relying heavily on their developed players and has no room these players to fail (see previous comment concerning payroll in '26, '27, & '28). There is no $$$ available to sign FA or to make trades (unless the potential new owner(s) decide open up the checkbook).

    2026 Rotation: Lopez, Ryan, Ober, Matthews, Festa, SWR - one of the last 3 either stays stretched out at AAA or moves to the BP Bullpen: Duran, Jax, Stewart, Varland, Funderburk (over Wentz), Sands, Tonkin, Topa (option picked up)/starter that didn't make rotation Catchers: Jeffers, whoever claims the job in ST - Olivar/Camargo/Cardenas/Cartaya (Cardenas and Olivar are Rule 5 this off-season) Infielders: Correa, Lewis, Lee, Keaschall, one of Miranda/Julien/Sabato (Sabato is Rule 5 this off-season) Outfielders: Buxton, Larnach, Wallner, Emma Utility: Clemens, Martin Need some players to figure it out, or sell off and rebuild.

    Baseball Reference shows 2026 payroll at $72.5 MM in guaranteed contracts, $151.6 MM if no options are picked up, and $167.3 MM if all options are picked up. Vazquez, Paddack, Castro, Coulombe and France are all FA, Bader ($1.5 MM), Topa ($225 K), and Dobnak ($1 MM) have buyouts if their options aren't exercised. Castro may be the most missed on this list, but the biggest question mark is who replaces Vazquez, need a second C on the MLB roster. I won't list all the Arb Eligible players or the Pre-arb players, but most likely Bride, Gasper, Kiersey and one of Funderburk/Wentz won't be back with the big club. ???? replaces Vazquez, Zebby replaces Paddack, Keaschall replaces Castro, ???? replaces Coulombe, Miranda/Julien/Clemens/Martin replace France (and Bader if his option is declined). Topa might get his option picked up, but Dobnak gets bought out and offered a MiLB contract. If you think next year is bad, 2027 shows only $68.7 MM in guaranteed contracts, but to fill out the roster with the current players and their expected arbitration raises, $224.3 MM (Dobnak's option doesn't factor in here or 2028), and 2028 shows $46.5 MM in guaranteed contracts (Pablo, Ober and Ryan are FA, the pipeline needs to be flowing by then), and expected arbitration raises it to $216.6 MM. This teams talent had better be showing by 2027, no big FA signings or trades happening anytime soon.

    Skubal has 5 starts of 7+ IP and 3 or fewer hits allowed, 7 starts of 6+ IP and 0 runs allowed, 10 starts of 6+ IP and 1 run or less, 10 QS, and 5 starts with 10+ K's, the Twins are far from the first team to be "massacred" by Skubal.

    No entitlement here, this a sports forum so it should be sports articles. Not policing, just asking them to stick to the subject matter, per their own rules - sports, specifically baseball. Seeing how you keep coming on here to argue your opinion AND state your politics, I'd say you're the one who's triggered. Your triggers are your responsibility, not mine. I do believe that ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, et al have also had to pay out big $$$$ for lying as well, but you won't say that, doesn't fit your narrative

    Not triggered, I come to this forum to get away from the "left" vs. "right" rhetoric that is literally everywhere. My life is fine and my priorities are where they need to be, my views don't get inserted in every conversation, and I haven't lost any friends (a few family members, maybe (wink, wink (sarcasm))). A few TD writers/staff members insert their political views in their articles too often, especially so since its considered an off-limits subject. Not touching this statement other than to say quit listening to MSM and AOC. Not offended at all, everyone is entitled to their opinion, in the proper setting, a sports forum is not that setting.

    That defense might make sense in a vacuum. But in the real world, especially in our current political climate, there are times when democracy gets it wrong. Inexplicably, Mauer got left off the list, and that is something the writers could have remedied. More political BS from the TD staff/writers/owners, why am I not surprised. This article could have absolutely been written without this paragraph, or at the very least, without the second sentence of the paragraph, whether the referenced article mentioned "American Democracy" or not. Politics HAS divided our country, there is no need to insert one's political leaning in a sports forum article about perceived slights on one writers "All-Quarter Century Team". State you feelings and your argument for the player you support and leave the politics out of it, especially given recent events in our state. Yes, I know I did not need to write this post and I know I can just leave TD if I disagree with their views, but I am a Twins fan and for the most part like reading the articles and opining on our favorite team. As for articles with the author's political views inserted, those are available elsewhere, let's keep it focused on sports, please.

    No matter how I tried to manipulate the rotation (on paper) between now and the All-Star break, Ober's spot comes up twice, though he can be pushed back a day each time by keeping Ryan and Paddack on regular rest and bumping SWR (once) and Festa (twice) back a day. The two Ober starts would fall on the 5th, followed by Ryan on the 6th, and the 12th, preceded by Ryan on the 11th. A BP game on the 5th, while not ideal, could be done, hoping Ryan goes 7 on the 6th, the team has a day off on the 7th. Ober's start on the 12th would precede SWR on the 13th, the last game before the All-Star break, though I guess they could piggy-back SWR and Festa (on 3 days rest) and possibly not need the bullpen that day. The team could run a man short on the pitching staff and bring up a position player or bring up a AAA reliever(s) for two weeks and throw 2 BP games, they could spot start whoever they feel gives them the best shot to compete for two starts, or they could use the days off to maximize Ober's days off between starts. Tough choice's each...

    TD would have been calling him a failed pick after his first two seasons: 9-16 4.57 ERA, 44 HR allowed in 181.1 IP (4.6 IP/GM), but the 4 seasons since (probably for another team, Cincinnati??) would have been nice...
