    Sporcle quiz on Rock and Roll HOF: http://www.sporcle.com/games/g/rockrollHOFinductees I've always been a bit surprised that groups like The Smiths (or just Morrisey), ELO (or just Jeff Lynne), Supertramp, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, etc aren't in. That period/type (broadly) doesn't seem that represented. I've also been a big fan of Echo and the Bunnymen but they probably don't belong in the HOF.

    I admit I was always a bit too high on Hendriks but I really wanted him to succeed. Anyhow, he's still only 25 and the Royals traded for him today. He's been pretty solid in AAA - 8-1, 2.33 era, 108ip and only 7(!) walks. IIRC, he was out of options and the Cubs grabbed him, optioned him, Blue Jays nabbed him and now they are trading him to KC. Good luck to him.

    I think JB_Iowa hits it on the head. And I suspect the totality of the players anger was "Why is that ****** up here? What the ****!" and then they moved on with their lives.

    Not saying it was wrong but it isn't common. Most teams have roving instructors. When Shooter Hunt lost the ability to throw strikes, the Twins didn't send him to Anderson or Blyleven for a one time evaluation. And I'm not sure how much help one bullpen session could possibly be. It seems like - and players certainly viewed it as - an entitlement to a guy who hadn't deserved it. Long run, there's no harm in it but there's also no harm in the ML players express their anger over it.

    Actually, I don't think teams do that very often at all. I certainly don't remember any Twin minor leaguer coming up to Target Field (except right after they sign and do the post draft media swing). And I also don't think it would've gone over that well at Twins Daily if the Twins had drafted Appel, saw him absolutely suck at A ball and then promote him anyway and give him a pitching session at TF. I suspect some people would find a way to ****** about that. One of the Astros beat writer tweeted a lot more about this. Basically, players on the ML team think that the FO isn't concerned about the ML team at all. The Springer signing fiasco left a bad taste in some players mouth (Springer was offered a team friendly contract, didn't take it and was sent to AAA instead). So, yeah, in one sense it doesn't matter that Appel threw a bullpen session and nothing will happen b/c of it. On the other side, it's somewhat similar to the Joe Mauer bi-lateral leg crap when players were complaining about Joe. There is a sense of entitlement that a player is getting - in Joe's case, he at least had a track record. Appel is not viewed as warmly.

    Yeah, age is a reason guys like Kevin Youkliss and Corey Koskie were generally forgotten about by most prospect gurus.

    1 - Buxton 10 - Sano 25 - Stewart 31 - Meyer 38 - Berrios 42 - Gordon Polanco, May, Thorpe and Rosario finish out the new Twins top 10 but none made the top 100. Cubs (5 in top 50, 8 in top 100) and Twins (6 in top 50) are the two best systems by a bunch right now.

The top 50 will be a television special on mlbtv. Tough year for the Twins but they could have 4-6 guys in tonight's special.

    Yeah, against Cleveland if IIRC. MLB doesn't have the video on their site though. They really have to improve their video library.

    Yes and no. In his three previous starts, he went 6 innings each game and walked 4 in each game. That's a bit of a problem. But I agree that it was generally overblown.

    Yeah, I agree. I know Meyer did hit a rough patch for a bit but it's time to bring him up. Give him a few starts at the ML level now, like Gibson last year. And bring May up too.

    I'm not sure the Astros rebuild is any better than the Twins - Astros are on pace to lose an avg of 105 games/year for 4 years and haven't had a winning record since 2008. Twins have been better than that and the Twins (and Cubs) both have created better farm systems. I think the Astros have been more upfront about telling fans we're giving up on the season. (And taken a pretty big attendance hit for that).

    I think the other really interesting thing about this is that if the Astros lose any pick, my understanding is that it goes into a hat and all the teams that didn't go over the cap get a chance to get that pick. So let's hope the kids win their grievances.

    JB_Iowa is right on the standing issue, the union has the right to file grievances on behalf of Nix and Aiken, which is apparently what they've done.

    I know ARod got some votes. So, Dawson, Carlton, ARod (twice is my guess) ... how about Ichiro the year he set the hit record?

    Ryan's been pretty good about selling high. He sold Span after a 5 WAR season (followed by a 2 WAR season in Washington), Revere after a 2.5 WAR season (followed by a 0.5 one). He also traded off free agents to be in Liriano and Morneau. I'm not overly worried about Ryan not trading Suzuki, it'll happen.

    Doesn't look horrible - Pryor seemed to have some promise before his injury. If he regains his from (a big if) it looks like he could be a better arm than Tonkin for us. Prior to his injury, Sickels wrote that he had closer stuff if his command came around just a bit more. Graded him a C+/B- borderline type.

    I doubt it. He's sorta expensive, not overly good and lots of pitchers like him around. We got Brian Fuentes for Van Der Mil (sp) a few years back - he was maybe a top 30 prospect in our system at the time.
