  1. Concur. Adjust from that as the season progresses.
  2. By June 1st, I hope that's true, and true due to good play and not due to complete failure by others.
  3. "Velocity allows a greater margin for error..." So it's not a "myth" then.
  4. Perhaps a cautionary reminder about thinking players with long track records can radically change results, and to not jump to unfounded conclusions.
  5. awesome work, Parker!
  6. Dunno. Between the best and the worst? If forced to guess, I'd say maybe 15? One every 10 games? And those 15 catches add up to 10 runs? But that's a complete guess. Maybe I'm way off, and there really is a 30 run difference. But my gut tells me that's too far fetched to be very likely. As the study said, most balls really aren't in question, which has always been one of my issues with metrics...they often don't pass my smell test. What's your guess?
  7. Your math assumes that outfielder A makes 100% of those 35 balls into outs, and outfielder B makes zero. That seems very unlikely to me. So now you're down to some unknowable portion of those 35 balls. Some of those are singles. Some of the few that are left will be for extra bases, but won't end up costing actual runs. In the end, a 3-4 win difference based on one corner OFers defense compared to another isn't very plausible. I do agree that no team us going to pay him $16m for his defense...because they all likely don't believe it's worth that much.
  8. I would be surprised if Buxton DOESN'T start 2016 in AAA.
  9. Concur. The worst thing this team could do is just assume things will work out if they do nothing. Improving on 95 loss teams is easy. Going from decent to really good is much, much harder. Sorta like going from a 36 handicap to a 10 is child's play for most golfers. Going from 10 to 5 is difficult. Shaving every single stroke from there takes more work than all the rest combined.
  10. This place is pretty neat. I'm glad it's here.
  11. Cut the cord, Jerry. Mitch just isn't good enough. A QB who can't pass isn't a QB.
  12. They won't be ranked, but at least it's a squeeker victory at home against a MAC team, instead of a stinker loss. I think they might have had 7 defensive starters out of the game by the end. The offense looked a bit better, but still not impressed with Liedner, although I will admit that's twice now he's gotten the winning TD when they needed it late.
  13. In his last 22.2 relief innings, covering his last month, Meyer allowed 15 hits, 2 runs, 10 walks, and had 22 K's. I will gladly admit I don't know if he would have translated that to big league success. But I will also maintain he was already on the 40 man, the bullpen needed help, and there is zero reason he's now playing golf while you, me, and the Twins still don't know if he could have helped. As for Berrios, is this a serious question? If so, it's not difficult. You manage his innings by managing them.
  14. It's another 40 man spot, but prolly him too.
  15. Great post. The pen looked to many of us to be flawed even before July, for that matter. I would add that I think they could have found a way for, at minimum, Berrios and Meyer to audition in bullpen roles by September with the hope of adding a couple quality late inning options. Berrios' innings could have been manages, and why Meyer is home is a complete mystery.
  16. Huston Street K's Houston's Marisnik with 2 on and 2 out to end the 8th. 4-3 LA heading to the 9th. CBU, Huston/Houston Edition.
  17. Houston scores on a WP in the 8th. 4-3 LA, 2 out, 1 on.
  18. Dickbert were shocked to look up and see Buxton in CF.
  19. WNBA, Western Conference semifinals: Lynx 74, Sparks 67, 4:33 left in the 4th. CBU, who cares edition
  20. Man, I went to the swap meet, and bought some used sneakers. Bad mistake. I think they might have been previously owned by a drug dealer. I'm not sure what they were laced with, but I've been trippin' all day.
  21. preseason hockey Wild 1, Jets 0, OT. CBUTNE.
