    Technically it's the trail runner's responsibility to make sure the lead runner goes. But it's hard for me to fault Julien for thinking "its a ball to the backdrop, FFS. Go already. "

    100 percent on the baserunner. That has to be read by the runner. The only time a 3rd base coach comes into play is when a ball in play is behind a baserunner and he can't tell if he has time to score. Baserunners make most decisions in real time on their own

    He should havevbeen 1/3 to 1/2 the way to 3rd. There was no chance to tag if it WAS caught. When it dropped and took that big hop he scores easily and Martin (who was almost to 2nd since he could see it was gonna drop) is on 3rd.

    Yup. Doesn't excuse Martin on the next hitter but Gasper's brain dead baserunning was at least as egregious.

    That was godawful baserunning from Gasper. You play that halfway every time. You're not tagging if it's caught. Once it bounces that high, you score standing up.

    Mrs Chief has an obsession with the old 60s TV rock group The Monkees. She told me the other day she had spent $5000 on a Monkees Fan Group Weekend just for the chance to get Mickey Dolenz' autograph. I thought to myself "she's kidding, right?" And then I saw her face.
