  1. I've been saying Lewis's footwork is awful for a year now. I've never seen someone hit with a back foot fly around like his. And it's often during the swing. Incredible.
  2. I'd like to take credit for this, but honestly it's rather like predicting the sun will rise in the east tomorrow morning.
  3. Cease walks into a bar, barkeep says "Why the long face?"
  4. I dont like the chances of 4 runs being enough today.
  5. Schneider was expecting another slider on 3-2. Way late on the fastball.
  6. Anyone old enough to remember Sal "The Barber" Maglie? Connor "The Podiatrist" Prielipp?
  7. In which case, I picked a bad game thread to quit sniffing glue.
  8. What do you mean my jokes were bad that night?? Your memory is bad, HBD. It was a day game.
  9. Walter Johnson tossed a no hitter for the Senators in 1920. I remember watching on MLB.TV. Mrs Chief got on me about taking out the garbage but I held my ground and watched it all. Jack Kralick threw the Twins first no hitter in 1962. He was a 9th inning walk from a perfect game.
  10. Image courtesy of © Matt Blewett-Imagn Images Modern defensive metrics aren't particularly kind to Twins center fielder Byron Buxton. He's decidedly...average, if you believe what they say. Do you? Does it matter? I'm not sure if you heard...or remember...the Twins made a couple deals last summer at the deadline. The whole thing seemed to fly under the radar, almost unnoticed. So it might be time to look back at one of those deals, Louis Varland to Toronto. Thoughts on this largely unnoticed transaction? Narratives. They can change, but they sure drive perceptions. Time for your take. Get your comment on! View full article

  12. Worrying about a pinch runner role is like worrying about your house paint color when your roof leaks badly and the foundation is rotted out.
  13. Are you sure about this? Perhaps you're thinking of Eddie Gaedel?
  14. None. With the Twins sweep, there won't be any save opportunities.
  15. I cheated. Are you looking for 5'3" Senator Yo-Yo Davalillo?
  16. Let's just focus on one problem here..."comparing players from different eras." WAR incorporates defensive measures. Ignoring the inherent difficulty of measuring defense using today’s methods...Tell me how Fangraphs measures Harmon Killebrew's defense.
  17. 1. Decent job sorting through guys nobody wanted? Huh? 2. There's no such thing as "fine as the 7th or 8th guy." There's no such thing as "low leverage."
  18. Much respect for you David, but I could not disagree more strongly. Provus is fantastic IMO. I hope stays for decades.
