    Top prospect Gonzalez? Gonzalez has yet to take a single AB for the Twins. Currently posting a .633 OPS in St Paul. They wasted the money and resources needed for a starter on Andrew Desclafani. Thankfully he never tossed a pitch for the Twins. Topa... Carlos Santana is completely unrelated. That trade made the Twins weaker. Without question. Squandered an asset for worse than diddly squat.

    If I were a GM, I'd avoid using small sample sizes of offense, snipped from large samples, as proof of concept. Particularly while simultaneously mocking the use of small sample sizes of defense. And just so we're clear...is it your contention the Twins franchise is on great shape these days?

    Yep. Cycling through DFA claims is how you get the Twins pen. Also, the :just convert some starters" line we see trotted out sounds fine but it's hard to pull off and certainly can't be done in an offseason. Nobody has enough spare starters sitting around in the high minors with the kind of stuff needed to really be a difference maker to throw a half dozen at the issue. You might find one or two per year. Bullpens need to be built, with quality, over time.

    Hahaha. If we're talking big picture, this season ceased to matter last trade deadline.

    One reliever, even a good one, would make little difference. Good bullpens are 10 - 11 deep. Bad pitchers dont get better because you pitch them in the 7th instead of the 8th.
