  1. I've been there!!! Not a fan though. I had the Cajun fish and... Wait for it... It ain't what I call blackened sole.
  2. Way back when I was merely really old, I fondly remember sitting in a spring training stadium with Ashbury watching Lamont Wade Jr tear it up for the Surprise Saguaros in the Arizona Fall League. Teammates included our recent friend Nicky Lopez and former Twins #1 pick Tyler Jay.
  3. Because that's the OP's point? Just spitballin' here...
  4. This isn't the White Sox. Gonna need more from the offense to get out of this with a series win. Might as well start tonight.
  5. On another note, I hope everyone got their nap in so as to make it to at least the 7th inning stretch tonight.
  6. "DHing Vazquez allows the opportunity to pinch hit for him." As an avowed and long term "FiReRoCcO!!" Guy, I must admit I agree with the above. One of those two will get replaced by Wallner when a RH reliever enters. At least it'll be Vazquez. I'd rather just have Wallner in the lineup, but if we must platoon, this is better than the other way around. And mostly it points out, if you're committed to platoons, you need to make the effort to have the players to do it.
  7. Looked to me like Jeffers was favoring a leg after running out a number yesterday. I wonder if maybe he won't play this weekend. As for Farmer..."Hey Kyle, that shoulder hurts, don't it? No? //whack// How about now?"
  8. Well you value prospects more than me, so we'll probably never agree on this. If I were running a baseball team, I'd value today over tomorrow over next week over next year over 3 years from now every time. "A bird in the hand..." By a factor of 10, at least. Obviously there are a handful of really great prospects in the game that have value. The rest are an unpredictable crapshoot and will be replaced soon.
  9. He might be back soon. And he has exactly one partial season of history as a good reliever.
  10. How about Walker Jenkins for Skubal?
  11. Can we stop discussing Stewart like there's some guarantee he's a lock to be healthy and effective? And that goes double for Topa. And by the way, the rest of the regular season counts too. I want to catch Cleveland. I'd say it's incredibly important to win the ALC rather than be a wild card. I want no part of a best of three, likely in NY or Baltimore, on the road. And as chpettit19 points out above, post season starts from this staff are likely twice through the order. We'll need 4 innings most games from the pen. Probably more, rather than less, on average. Upgrade the pen. They're not going to pull the cord on a starter upgrade. Whi h means there's no investment they can make above "good reliever" that'll have more impact.
  12. Unavoidable? In one breath you point out management specifically targeted Margot and then in the next call it unavoidable? Rocco PH'ing Margot only to see him end up facing RH relief pitching twice is unavoidable? Margot having more PAs than Christian Vasquez, who catches every other game. Is unavoidable? I call shenanigans.
  13. If you get past the wild card round you'll use 4 starters, minimum.
  14. Agreed. It's definitely a problem. Which is kind of ironic, considering back in the day, teams resisted putting home games on TV on the theory having those games freely available on TV would lower attendance.
  15. Agreed, except when you're talking lineup, calling it a "26 man roster" underestimates the problem. It's a 13 man roster. 13 of those 26 are pitchers. That's why Farmer has 151 PAs and Margot-for-three has 202, which is more than Christian Vazquez.
  16. Tigers tried hard to cough up a 2 run 9th inning lead over Cleveland but couldn't quite pull it off. Detroit 5 Cleveland 4. Back to 5 games behind.
  17. You tied a major league record in little league? I call BS
  18. To this old timer, it appears to me Brooks Lee is a breaking ball hitter. Better swings at off speed.
  19. Luis Robert ties a major league record Edit: ninja'd by CD. ****.
