    Tampa was in the middle of a 100 win season, trying to win the AL East and then the World Series. They made that trade hoping to fill their DH hole with 3 months of 2019 Nelson Cruz. Ryan was a nice prospect, almost MLB ready, but wouldn't have cracked Tampa's rotation in 2021. That's exactly the type of trade smart teams trying to win make all the time. And they'd 100 percent do it again, without the benefit of 3 years hindsight. I hope the Twins do something similar for a top line starter this year. It's about winning, not stockpiling fangraph prospect rankings.

    I doubt it. BTW, Buxton's NTC becomes a "5 team trade list" after 2026.
