    Are you aware Miami had him start four games in April? Check his stats as a reliever.

    Its not accurate. Every pitcher in a modern bullpen will pitch in situations where their performance will impact the outcome. Multiple times over a season. Starters average less than 6 IP per start. Teams get 10 or more outs on average from the pen every night. Most games are close. Relievers can't pitch every night. You're going to use all of them. So, every reliever will pitch in situations where they impact the outcome. Randy Dobnak entered a 2 run game in the 6th tonight. That's not low leverage, IYAM. Similar situations occur regularly. You can't get by with 3 guys who pitch every time the game is close. They all will. Some more than others, but they all will.

    Also, the Dobnak DFA can't happen soon enough.

    Lopez was pretty bad from the first pitch. Nothing but good swings all night off him. Anything but overpowering, runners on or not.

    I think even you'd admit there isn't any evidence any of this matters to the manager. Or at least no evidence of any consequences.

    Agree with most of this, but I'll give him a pass on using Dobnak. He can only use the relievers he has, and if Dobnak is here, he's gonna have to pitch in situations that aren't just blowouts. And I'd say Lopez was about spent. IMO THIS issue is Dobnak being here in the first place.

    Options were limited. We didn't need anyone at the deadline. Seriously, I half suspect they intended to waive him when they called him up, on the off chance someone would claim him.

    I give Rocco credit for starter usage. I think he's pretty damn good at when to remove his starter. Or not remove. He runs a good clubhouse, I believe, although that's tough to judge. I don't see him as good at much else. His teams do not generally play the game well.

    Not really even a good story. He's been earning 7 figures to eat minor league innings. Not like any of us wouldn't do that.

    I'm confused. Firing Martin won't fix the problem. Martin isn't the cause of the problem. We saw the Twins squander a run last night though incredibly bad baserunning. Inexcusable. "No big deal" says the chorus. Meanwhile, tonight, the Cubs get a run home from first on a single. Same situation. This stuff matters.
