  1. Yet another Twins player who, despite years in the system and several at the big league level, still doesn't have a position. First? Third? Second? None of the above? Questionable way to run a railroad.
  2. If they don't replace him, that seems like a pretty good indication of who was doing what under the PBO/GM model.
  3. This reads to me like he got canned, rather than he chose to leave. In any case, this was pretty much announced last weekend when they said "Falvey and Baldelli are returning. ... Thad? Thad who?"
  4. Yeah, you made a misleading post about money.
  5. I thought this was your point: "I want to see a 20 million dollar club win it all and then watch everybody forget that it happened when everybody loses their minds over the Twins not spending money next year."
  6. Adios, Thad. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/10/thad-levine-steps-down-as-twins-gm.html
  7. This defense of Rocco is as poorly written as Rocco's management. "Vocal minority?" "It became obvious meaningful change was needed .... would Rocco be the scapegoat"? How would needed meaningful change be a scapegoat? His calm demeanor is "exactly what's needed for a long season"...which has ended in utter collapse twice in three seasons? And which has sputtered to a weak postseason when he did manage to get there? Dedend Rocco, sure. Have at it. But this collection of unsupported claims, flat out embellishments and platitudes? LOL worthy.
  8. Which is completely irrelevant. Would you say the Twins payroll was $70m in September when Buxton, Correa, Kepler and Ryan were on the IL?
  9. Detroit's 2024 payroll is $98.5M.
  10. The article also says the Padres are still available via local cable/satellite systems. That seems like the key to me. Get rid of the blackouts, which will mean less money from cable/satellite, but add some revenue back through streaming.
  11. One thing the Padres didn't do with Merrill is sit him against LH pitching. A little more than 1/4 of his 2024 PAs came against LH pitching. And he only put up a .641 OPS. But lookie here....in the postseason he's not only in the lineup against Max Fried, he's batting 5th. And he ropes a 2 run double to center off Max Fried. Merrill wouldn't have been in that game were he a Twin.
  12. It struck me as ... ominous for Levine when the Twins announced that Falvey and Baldelli would be returning for 2025, but conspicuously didn't mention Levine. My gut tells me he's gone. What the impact will be, if he is indeed fired, who knows? I have no idea who does what in this FO
  13. $20/mo is the price for MLB.TV, single team. $22/mo for all teams. It won't be cheaper than that. Of course, that's if the Twins actually allow streaming. You and Majorleagueready should maybe brush up before commenting.
  14. It's always about salaries. The top 6 team payrolls in 2024 are in the postseason. There's a reason the Yankees miss the playoffs once every few decades and the Dodgers own the NLW. And it ain't their minor league systems. Exceptions prove the rule.
  15. Well, we don't actually know, since the Twins marketing staff is so inept.
  16. Nobody has a continual pipeline of top talent. Nobody. However, everyone has a continual pipeline of "prospects" that can, and mostly should be used to acquire proven MLB talent. You'd end up regretting maybe 1 in 10 of those deals, maybe less. Because maybe 1 in 10 of those shiny prospects ever amounts to more than the guy they were traded for. They're initially cheaper, which is the real reason they're hoarded.
  17. May be time for some "right sizing" of the overhead.
  18. I wish I'd written that.
  19. The current format is really, really good. Nothing wrong with a best of 3 for the 3rd-6th best records in each league. Two best records are still in it in both leagues. MLB has done well with it's inevitable playoff expansion format.
  20. I guessing those in the game threads would have called BS on the marketing staff if they claimed "2nd best record in the AL in July." I'll cut you some slack since you've told us you didn't pay much attention with the cable TV fiasco.
  21. ? The Twins were 12-11 in July, good for 7th best in the AL (13th in MLB.) They did go 6-5 at TF in July. Both the Tigers and Royals had better July records than the Twins. BTW, the Twins averaged over 29,000 fans per game in July, by my quick, back of the napkin math. They drew over 320,000. I'm guessing you weren't among those of us who actually made it there, since you're obviously unaware of what actually took place.
  22. What's wrong is thinking FIP is a worthwhile measure of performance.
  23. Exactly. And For $120? Or for .75 cents a game?
  24. Interesting. However, irrelevant regarding the Twins. The DSG contract with the Twins was only for one season, through 2024. They weren't under contract with the Twins going forward. Although, I still wouldn't rule out further Twins contracts with DSG. If there were other good options, I think they'd have been exercised this season.
