  1. This article comes off as petty to be honest, like you're stooping to his level. You're preaching to the choir for the most part. You guys have arrived. You don't need to defend yourself from guys like Souhan. I'm getting a bit of an inferiority complex vibe from things like this and similar comments by Gleeman. It makes sense. You guys slogged it out for years to finally get to where you are and I'm sure you guys will reach even greater heights. It's like an obese person who has lost a lot of weight but still retains their "fat person" identity. From an outsiders perspective, it seems like you guys still have a bit of that basement blogger mindset when it's obvious to anyone paying attention that you guys are legit.
  2. I'd like to see his average after at least 1,000 more roles before we start talking HOF
  3. I want whatever you're drinking. (but will gladly eat crow if it happens )
  4. Guys I figured it out. Twins have decided to underslot the entire draft and use the remaining funds on their last pick for Tom Pohlad, coincidentally Carl Pohlad's grandson. It will make a great down payment on his new $7.2M Lake Minnetonka home
  5. This write up reminds me of that quote last year from Pohlad that the most important trait to have in his new GM is being nice or whatever he said. Looks like it's also the most important quality in a 1.1
  6. Lived in Rochester. Get over the Yankee merchandise thing. The team has to make money and the fact is everyone is a Yankee fan out there. People go to those games to enjoy some cheap baseball on a sunny day, see future ML talent (no matter what team they play for) and have a few beers. They could probably care less about the ML club and I don't begrudge them for it. And I'll echo others comments in regards to having no sympathy for billionaire owned orgs leveraging small communities.
  7. My how the mighty have eaten http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2013/0502/mlb_sano2_400.jpghttp://stmedia.startribune.com/images/ows_146526679447268.jpg
  8. Both parties could have handled the disagreement better. Previous listeners should have figured out pretty quickly what the podcast was going to devolve into. John knew exactly the right buttons to push, similar to a number of instances in the past. To me it came off as John reveling in Aaron's frustration, which is one reason why I think Aaron got so worked up. Aaron should have realized what John was doing (actually you can tell at multiple intervals that he knows what's going on, yet he lets his frustration show regardless) and emotionally/intellectually detached himself from arguing with a person who ignores reason.
  9. Eighteen seasons is a large enough sample size to expect Ryan to have a replacement level .500 winning percentage. (And no, I'm not giving him a pass on the first few seasons either because he had 15 other seasons to make up for it. If you want to take those out then by that logic you have to add on the Bill Smith years.) The fact that he wasn't really all that close at .474 is just disheartening. A GM career WAR of -150 and he deserves one more season?
  10. Manager is overrated. Keep him, let him go, makes no difference to me. The next GM and Pohlad's role going forward (read: hands off after today's enlightening comments) is much more important.
  11. Yikes! I chalked up most prior disagreements to you trying to get a rise out of Gleeman with a splash of too many drinks. I didn't think you actually believed what you were arguing. I don't think you appreciate how frustrating it is to listen to you when you're wrong John. You take passive aggressive MN to a whole new level.
  12. Would love to see him hired here but he doesn't seem to fit the Twins mold: -Too expensive -Too outside the box -Too big of a name -Not home grown Hope I'm wrong though
  13. Love the fact that this kid is only now discovering is his talents. No ego there, just child-like amazement and raw work ethic.
