  1. Good thing we're adding on runs, since recent history tells us that we are unlikely to score after this inning!
  2. Happy Birthday Eve! The logic of Garver leading off escapes me. I didn't even particularly like it last year when he could hit, but this year?
  3. True, but not all of us have the time and energy to explore them. It's nice to have a brief note like this on the Twins' site that we do read, with links to more details if we want them. I'm grateful for these little pieces. I'll know now to watch for information about Tatis and have a context when he is mentioned on broadcasts.
  4. I wish it were so (for me)! I postponed my retirement by a year to help the department through a collection of leaves and sabbaticals, and it ended up being a wholly new preparation with online delivery along with possible classroom interaction. Not quite what I had planned in January!
  5. If you're going to call your team the Royals, why would you wear powder blue instead of royal blue?
  6. Morris definitely has a personality and is not always easy on the ear. He was a little rough around the edges at times as a pitcher, and that same attitude comes through in the booth. That said, I appreciate a lot of his comments about pitchers and pitching. I feel like he gives us more professional insights than, for example, Bert. (Though maybe that's a low bar.) And I don't find him as off-putting as Torii.
  7. Garver is even swinging and missing with the glove.
  8. We score 12 next inning. It's geometric series: they score 2, we get 4 to make it 4-2. They get 6 to make it 8-4. The next step is 16-8, so we need 12 runs.
  9. We're making a lot of pitchers look very good these days. I wonder if the Pittsburgh gun is slow. It's saying about 91-92 on the FB, but it seems to get on the hitters really fast. Sneaky fast? Or maybe a few ticks faster than the gun?
  10. Trying to throw Berrios off. Must have been a Pirate drone.
  11. Had he missed the last pitch, one might all it an "AB from Hell."
  12. But they were quick! 45 minutes for three innings = less than 3-hour game.
  13. If our pitchers are only going to pitch a couple of innings anyway, we could use the DH for Buxton and pinch hit for the pitcher every time.
  14. Well, two out of our 5 starters have made it through the first two weeks...
  15. The Twins sure seem to collect feel-good pitchers. Smeltzer, Dobnak, Thielbar. What's next? Bert coming back to pitch a 150-pitch complete game in his 70s?
  16. I feel like we're Wisl-ing past the graveyard a bit using the shaky end of our bullpen in a close game.
  17. Baseball Reference says that Clippard used to pitch for the Yankees. Does that make him the Yankee Clippard? Can he play centerfield?
  18. In the spirit of the introduction: This pitcher looks a lot more "Cival-ized" than stupid-hair guy last Friday night.
