  1. Yes, that would make me gruntled, too.
  2. It's early, but the current standings in the second Wild Card races are amazing: American League Twins --- Tampa Bay 0.5 Kansas City 1.5 Seattle 1.5 Angels 2.0 Texas 2.0 Baltimore 3.0 Toronto 4.0 In the NL, by contrast, Colorado has a 7.5 game lead for the second spot! So, mostly sellers in the NL and mostly buyers in the AL at the deadline if things stay this way?
  3. I'm curious about how those more knowledgeable than I (most of you) would answer the question "At this point, what is Buxton's ceiling (with the bat)?" I've given up on Mike Trout, but can he ever be a .300 hitter? Even at .250 his defense would make him a valuable player, but do you think he can ever be an offensive asset?
  4. That's one very good win. They all count the same, but this one seems bigger!
  5. I thought there was zero chance of a win today. I guess that's what makes baseball fun!
  6. Well, he hasn't been good, but given that he was denied a legitimate strike three earlier, he should have been out of the inning cleanly. Grrrr.
  7. Great play, but an infield single against the fastest 99% of AL runners...
  8. Too bad. Gibson throws a Kluber-strike and ends up out of the game after a walk.
  9. Outrageous. I know that in English football referee performance in every game is reviewed and future assignments are dependent on high quality. Does MLB review umpire performance?
  10. Don't you mean a "clean sheet"?
  11. How many more letters could they fit on the back of Hildenberger's shirt? If he had a hyphenated last name?
  12. I agree. Good broadcasting is all about matching the style of whatever sport you are covering. Vin Scully and Al Michaels had the perfect style for baseball. This is why the sound is always off when an American broadcaster attempts to narrate a football (soccer to Americans) game. Football requires the same kind of patient, relaxed narration as baseball does, but the American broadcasters seem to have the (incorrect!) attitude that "this is a boring game so I have to act excited about every pass to keep the viewers interested." Drives me nuts!
  13. Is there a statistic for two-strike fouls allowed? Mejia is racking them up. Can't seem to put them away.
  14. Should have thrown ball three. Hittable pitch with only two balls ... he was asking for it!
  15. Maybe he should mix in a couple of hit batters. You know, just to save on pitches relative to having a 3-2 count on everyone.
  16. Mejia has a two-inning no-hitter. But he may only make it through four at this rate!
  17. I've always thought of the Northwest Angle as a chimney.
  18. Best thing about driving across Nebraska nowadays is the 80 mph speed limit! In fact, that may be the only good thing. But it makes all the bad things more tolerable.
  19. Love this stuff! Thanks for posting it.
  20. Last chance for a huge storm to wash away the score. C'mon .... weather gods!
  21. Maybe he'll trip on the wet mound and have to leave the game. Oh ... wait ... we tried that.
  22. And some have pointed out that Kitzler's strength is keeping guys off the bases, not striking out two guys with inherited runners at second and third. Wise bullpen usage IMHO.
