  1. That was exactly my point. How would 1 year of $12M Gomez buying you? I think Rosario is more than just a #4 OF'er. He just needs some more time. But this year, he needs his head in the game 100%.
  2. It's a little hard for me to say, i.e. I never heard the names Jose De Leon or Willie Calhoun before So, I go with my gut. And the gut-gut tells me the Twins could use more prospects in the MiLB and catching help. Austin Barnes is a name that jumps out at me. A scouting report says: Good hitter, gifted receiver with average arm, a bit underrated as a defender because he has spent a lot of time elsewhere on the diamond. Considering there are 2 other catchers ahead of him, why not? Probably 3 players would be the max LA would consider for Dozier, only.
  3. Nice overall plan. Perkins: from what I've read, Perkins may not be ready to play next year. As of 11/11, he is throwing the ball 75 ft. with 50% effort. "Perkins will have to earn his closer job back and the odds that he'll regain his pre-op effectiveness are pretty slim." Storen makes for a good backup plan. http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/mlb/4178/glen-perkins Gomez: sign him on a 1 year contract and push Rosario to the bench? I just can't see that. The $12M for a 1 year rental that keeps Rosario on the bench seems like a bad idea to me. He needs some more development time, IMHO.
  4. INCORRECT !!! In 1938, the scouting team of Bud Abbot and Lou Costello have clearly defined this: "Who" is on 1st. "I don't know" is on 3rd. Funny how 78 years ago, the comedy team of Abbot and Costello knew how the Twins would look like in 2016!
  5. Yeah, maybe Levine did talk to Plouffe's agent. Actually, I'd say that's a good possibility, considering new management, more emphasis on advanced metrics, etc. I just quoted directly from an article. Plouffe is handling it very well. Once the high $$$ deals are done, I bet he gets a job pretty quickly.
  6. Leave voice mail asking him to call back as soon as he can. That's the way professionals do it.
  7. Just read about Plouffe's release in the St. Paul paper. Get this: "New Twins general manager Thad Levine left a detailed voice message on Friday “explaining the situation,” said Plouffe, who was working out at the time." Released via Voice Message ?? Not cool...... http://www.twincities.com/2016/11/18/minnesota-twins-place-trevor-plouffe-on-outright-waivers/
  8. Every GM in baseball knew that the Twins had something of a roster pinch between 1st - DH and, to a lessor extent, 3rd. All they had to do is wait for the Twins to release Plouffe. Pretty easy decision. No reason to pay a higher salary or give up any kind of player in return.
  9. LaTroy will be a special assistant with the Twins. He will be in Spring Training and have other duties during the regular season. http://www.startribune.com/la-troy-hawkins-to-join-twins-as-a-special-assistant/401894835/ After fighting to stay a starter, Hawkins gave in to the Twins call to be a reliever. What a career! http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/001/091/655/1551731_display_image.jpg?1310523448
  10. Yea, there were some real 'low-lights' this past season
  11. I said it many times in the GameDay chats: Hector Santiago could REALLY use Johan's circle change. I suspect the new regime will not bring him back.
  12. I think it's that and they've got a lot of other things to look at. Spending a lot of time on a trade for Walker, to me, doesn't seem like good time usage.
  13. With the new management, there really wasn't much doubt this move would be made. Can't wait to see how the rest of the 40 roster turns out!
  14. The next time THIS happens, there'll be some howling! Ok, maybe not howling. An Ufda or two..... http://mlb.mlb.com/images/0/5/0/187004050/062916_sano_med_ok9rqg9t.gif
  15. How about bringing in Johan Santana? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know he hasn't pitched since 2012. I'd just like to see him retire as a Twin.
  16. Throw in a DirecTV subscription......
  17. Time for Twins to rethink their Starting Rotation??? Is 40 the new 20 ? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/11/braves-to-sign-bartolo-colon.html http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/11/braves-sign-r-a-dickey.html
  18. I like it. With a couple mild exceptions. I would not keep Gibson. I can live with him if he were more than a .500 pitcher that can handle more inning that he does. More simply put, I'd want Berrios in the rotation more than Gibson. May: if not a starter, I see no value as a reliever. May has back issues that have [apparently] been an issue throughout his career. Personally: I'm not counting on either Hughes or Perkins. Kintzler did just fine last year. De Leon and Stripling PLUS a mid-high prospect for Dozier. Considering Kinsler won't waive No Trade, price, age, etc. I think Twins may be in an excellent position to bump up the trade of Dozier. Vielma? IDK. Highest MiLB level, AA. Overall, I like the emphasis on defense. Should be a lot of emphasis on that in Spring Training, too.
  19. http://fansided.com/2016/09/19/5-potential-trade-destinations-brian-dozier/2/
  20. Lie, cheat, steal if you have too ! Nah, those new guy's seem too squeaky clean. They'll learn. I can teach that! http://www.stepbystep.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/How_to_Deal_With_a_Mean_Teacher_1.jpg
  21. Control? Can those big, high velo arms hit the strikezone on a regular basis? Just asking....
  22. When MLBTR posts these items, they are in reverse time order. So the first post is at the bottom. Here's the current link: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/11/ian-kinsler-trade-rumors-dodgers-tigers.html At the 2:52 time-stamp, there are 3 lengthy paragraphs pertaining to Kinsler. The last paragraph mentions Dozier, along with Brandon Phillips, Cesare Hernandez and Chase Utley. The last [now the 1st] posting mentions Ken Rosenthal has reported "that they have made contact with the Twins on Brian Dozier". To summarize: Kinsler is LA's 1st choice, Dozier 2nd. IMHO: With Dozier's age, friendly contract, a great last year, etc. I would probably pick Dozier over Kinsler. Just one man's opinion
  23. MLBTR: Twins Have Yet To Make Jason Castro An Offer By Steve Adams | November 16, 2016 at 5:19pm CDT http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/minnesota-twins In a nutshell: Castro has 3 offer from AL Teams, the Twins are not one of them.
  24. Dozier would be LA's backup plan if they can't get Ian Kinsler from Detroit. IDK, Dozier is 5 years younger than Kinsler and has pretty agreeable contract. "Los Angeles is obviously looking in other places for a second baseman, and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports notes that they have made contact with the Twins on Brian Dozier — who’d also be a quality, right-handed bat who comes with two years of control." http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ Edit: Forgot to add, Ian Kinsler Won’t Waive No-Trade Clause Without Extension. Makes it look more likely for the Dozier trade. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/11/ian-kinsler-no-trade-clause-wont-waive-without-extension-dodgers-tigers-trade-rumors.html
