  1. Another night game tomorrow with an off day following.
  2. Never change, Angel Hernandez. Never change. The 2-2 pitch was more of a strike than that 3-2 pitch was. But we'll take it.
  3. That was high school JV-level stupidity out of Duffey there. Was Garver talking Swahili to him as Gurriel was coming to the plate?
  4. I'd gladly let someone else have him. He didn't prove anything as a starter that he was any good there and he really hasn't shown much as a reliever either.
  5. THAT'S ON YOU, ROCCO!!!! LEARN TO MANAGE A BULLPEN!! Mejia, there should be a flight waiting for you to Rochester tomorrow morning....tonight if you hurry.
  6. What do the Twins see in this Mejia character to keep trotting him out there. And why hasn't Baldelli pulled him yet? He's hot garbage.
  7. There's a fried chicken sandwich with my name on it for a midnight snack.
  8. Doesn't matter where the ball lands when it's in front of the bag on either line because it can always kick back into fair territory before it gets to the bag or as it passes over the bag. The standard rule is that HP has the ball up to the bag and then base umpire has it at the bag and beyond. If 3B was screened and they came together to talk about it, then I can see the overrule. If the ball is on the fly when it passes the bag and lands in foul territory, obviously it's foul. If it's a big bounce off the plate, then it's judged by where it is when it crosses the bag, not necessarily where it lands on the next bounce.
  9. Wondering why they wouldn't leave Hildy in...
  10. Finally, someone with a hit in a big spot (at least in this inning).
  11. As an umpire, I can't believe the HP umpire would overrule that call (correctly, it appears) when it's the 3B umpire's call after it passes the bag.
  12. Nice time for your first hit of the year, Rosie!!
  13. And it's crap like that which kills you when you can't get just one GD runner in with the bases loaded and nobody out.
  14. 1st chicken dinner of the season on the docket for tonite!
  15. Sweet little frisbee by Berrios to get out of that jam.
  16. If anything, we don’t have to face his bat this season. He seemed to hit Twins pitching pretty well. I like this one a lot. Solidifies the DH spot and as one poster said, maybe provides a little veteran kick in the rear to some of the Latin players (read: Sano).
  17. IMO, this was the correct move. I felt like the Twins got to the WC last year in spite of Molitor, not because of him. Don't get me wrong, I loved the guy as a player and he's been a terrific baseball ambassador not just for MLB but for Minnesota as well. I never felt like he had a good feel for a situation, especially when it came to handling a pitching staff. How many times would we rant and first-guess in gameday threads about decisions that went awry. The percentage of decisions that went wrong, I believe, outweighed those that went right. However, this organization is still trying to dig out of the mess that Bill Smith and Terry Ryan 2.0 created with their trades and their rushing certain players through the minor league ranks. The current GMs made a nice attempt at bringing in some FA talent for this season and it just completely backfired. Lynn was terrible, Morrison was even worse, Odorizzi was average at best, Duke and Reed were pretty brutal. Unfortunately, it left us with a fire sale at the trading deadline and the only significant piece that came back was Tyler Austin. Let's hope that the farm system that has been growing over the last couple of years can yield a bumper crop for 2019 because I'm not sure that many will be confident in the FA market this year...unless Bryce Harper likes cold springs.
  18. I'd like to see the Twins bring him back. I think he can still be a positive contributor over the long haul of a season and if he's able to stay healthy. Whether that's for 1 or 2 years and at what price, I think that will be determined by how they do with offseason acquisitions. There's always room in the lineup for someone who can hit around .280. It's up to the manager to figure out how to handle that properly. I'm not confident about that side of things, though. If I was Mauer, I might have already asked my agent to test the waters out there to certain traditionally-contending teams to gauge interest for 2019. He's certainly running out of time to be on a team that wins a playoff GAME, let alone a series, and that's unlikely to come if he stays in a Twins uniform. Why wouldn't he have done this prior to the trading deadline? Who knows. Maybe there wasn't any interest. But if he wants to cap off his career with a ring, that's a route he should look into. And I say that despite being a staunch proponent of loyalty to one team. Whatever he and/or the team decides, it's been a ton of fun watching his career and I think we can all agree that we shake our heads at what could have been if he had been able to stay even 90% healthy throughout his career.
  19. Oh don't worry, I've popped in my pair of pennies whenever something comes up during a game or if I see something on another thread that needs an interpretation. I can also be hired out for questions about something seen in a game. Compensation can be a simple pat on the back.
  20. Doesn't say much for your confidence in home runs tonite. Oh wait, that stands for precipitation. Nevermind.
  21. Rosie looked like a capable 3rd sacker in Beantown the other nite.
  22. It's too bad someone wasn't closer to the Injuns in the standings because we own their damn teepee this year and it would be great to be the reason why they don't go to the playoffs.
  23. Tuesday night's Mega Millions numbers will be....
  24. This guy is so concerned about the runner, he's gonna leave a cookie up to Garver and it's gonna be over.
