Right after Laudner observes that they're just trying to hit it hard and not out of the park, Buxton gets that double. This inning is the type of inning they've needed to have for a while -- string those hits together.

ARIIIIIIIISE!! What a diamond in the rough pickup this kid has been.

Grossman and Herrmann can f off.

It's a team that's built their success on dingers and not getting the hits necessary in big spots. All of the 'bombas' are fun when they come in wins but when you get down to the dirty portions of the season, including the playoffs, you need to win games by stringing 2-3 hits together and converting when you have RISP, unlike what they've done in this game (so far).

Pitchers have been running thru the raindrops throughout the last 4 innings. It's about time the offense rewards their hard work with some production.
  6. TwinsCD
Grossman and Herrmann have been more productive in this game/series than they ever were in a Twins uniform.

If I got two schoops on a sugar cone, at least half of it would end up on the sidewalk. Some of us just aren't fluent in ice-cream-cone-ese

    What language is this, Swahili?
  9. TwinsCD
He's still pitching like it but he's had the luxury of facing the Twins worst hitter in the last month with guys in RISP or high-leverage average or whatever the brainiacs are calling it nowadays in 2 of the first 3 innings.

It's nice and all but unlike Single-A ball, they don't give out playoff berths for winning the first half. Isn't the point of the game threads anyway to not only make charitable guffaws at the Chief's jokes along with making comments on the game itself?

C'mon Boomstick, just because you're playing on Rickey Henderson Field doesn't mean you have to start emulating him!

Remember when someone thought it was a good idea to put Sano in right field?

Replays seem to be inconclusive on that catcher's interference call. Adri fouled it and the ball hit the tip of the glove and I wonder if that's what the umpire heard rather than the bat hitting the glove. I'll take the run though. And in a mild surprise, Schoop fails to deliver with the bases loaded again.

Would be nice to get the recognition but I'm not going to mind some of these guys getting almost a week of rest. This is where the 'every team gets a player' rule can skew the quality of participants. The Chisux get 2 position players? Questionable.

Day off tomorrow in Oakland...a vacationer's paradise.
  16. TwinsCD
Both teams are off tomorrow. I think Twins have the better opportunity here so let's wait until the city curfew kicks in before abandoning this one....unless the field is unplayable.
  17. TwinsCD
There's a severe weather alert on the scoreboard and yet they're not pulling people off the field and out of the stands. Seems smart.
  18. TwinsCD
Let's just hope the umpires aren't hasty about wanting to call this game if all hell breaks loose. It's only 2:30pm and both teams have an off day tomorrow.
  19. TwinsCD
That's the game I remember this team playing. Still have the chance to achieve the goal of 2 out of 3 every series. Giolito will be a tall task tomorrow.

This one's on the offense again. If Polanco comes through with the bases juiced and/or they do anything in that top of the 8th with 2 on and 1 out, they get to the bullpen with a lead to close it out. Berrios did exactly what he needed to do tonite other than 2 bad pitches that ended up in the seats.
  21. TwinsCD
We all knew that they weren't gonna keep up that crazy HR pace but what's become alarming now that they're not hitting a ton of dingers is that when they need to string together a bunch of hits for a rally, they can't seem to do it. That's not going to bode well when the end of the season comes around.
  22. TwinsCD
Kep going Buxton Lite with that crash into the fence.
  23. TwinsCD
What the F with this choking with the bases loaded again BS.
  24. TwinsCD
BTW, Chief, your Sano HR call was what, 5 ABs late? They need to get on your time, not their own!!
  25. TwinsCD
Sigh...why are we thinking of stealing with one of the best hitters in the league at the plate?
