THAT'S the kind of starting pitching I was hoping for. Yeah, it took Gibson 110+ pitches to only get thru 5 2/3 innings but nothing crossed the plate. Really needed that one. Interesting how Molitor set up the 7th-9th innings with the relievers. Given the number of pitches, I wouldn't expect to see Jepsen tomorrow. Maybe we can get a blowout and it won't be necessary.
For me, it's a day-by-day thing. Today, the Rangers are above the Twins. I root against the Rangers. Tomorrow, when the Twins are back in the WC2 spot, you root against whoever's closest in the race.
What's been incredibly alarming during this 6-out-of-7 stretch has been the lack of any sort of shutdown effort by a starter, other than Duffey's work in the 15-2 Baltimore game. Given the options not being all that appetizing, the bullpen did their job during that stint. But this business with the starters needs to end pronto or else the Astros will go sweeping thru Target Field.
Not only nice to look at but also a real nice girl, overall. She interned with us a few summers ago. Unfortunately, I traveled so much during that summer that I didn't get to know her all that well.
I'd like to have a major league umpire explain to me how Andriese is not balking with that move of his. Looks like he's breaking his hands inside his glove every time he goes into his set.
I like how I'm watching a guy at the plate and the bottom line scroll underneath says he's been suspended 1 game for making contact with an umpire over the weekend. Great discipline structure, MLB. Edit: And now he's killed us for 3 RBI. GET SANTANA OUT!!!
This was well-spent money. I wonder what we can get for Santana in the offseason. Gonna need a lot of offense tonight as long as he stays in this game.
Except Nashville just opened a brand-new park for their AAA team this season. Soooo, just expand it!! http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20150814&content_id=143001626&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_farmalmc&sid=l112
Big surprise...good seats still available at the Trop. I'd have made the trip but couldn't con anyone else into going with me and the Concrete Jungle is not a place to go it alone.
Gotta keep riding the momentum from Baltimore and get all over Karns tonight because Archer is gonna be near impossible tomorrow night. I'd do a shot of Absolut to go along with the theme...but had a bad experience and have sworn off Russia's water.
Lightweights....good thing it's a double-digit game. This game was just what the doctor ordered after that trip to NY. Really nice game out of Duffey, even with getting knocked around in the 8th. Everyone hit the ball tonite and that's always a welcome sign. And Sano has 10 dingers in 40 games...I was right, the short porch in left was ripe for one of his fly balls. See if he can hit a couple more there this weekend.
I spent my college days in Baltimore at the height of the Orioles playoff runs and when you couldn't get a ticket to Camden Yards without a 30-day notice. I watched numerous Twins losses in that stadium...in fact, I don't think I ever went to a win there (and given they were 6-8 in that span of time, I had really bad luck). I then came to dub Camden Yards the Twins House of Horrors. But they are 8-9 since 2010 there so the name has lost its luster. Hopefully it won't come back to the spotlight this weekend. That short porch in left is just BEGGING to catch a few Sano blasts.
