  1. They also just released JR Graham. So that's 3 40 man spots opened up, with Centeno and Mastro taking two. At least 4 guys going down, 5 if Rosario is out for Mastro Milone, Fien, Graham, Murphy
  2. I assume it would be other moveS... they aren't actually going to keep a 3rd catcher, right? So 3 guys off the roster mean 2 more have to be coming besides Centeno
  3. I'd make Kepler the every day CFer until mid-June or so, when I call Buxton back up and shift Kepler to a corner. Danny Santana goes back to a back-up role that he always should have been in.
  4. Yeah I agree Buxton is on Molitor, and it bothered the hell out of me too. Meyer - who made the decision to call him up when he was on a roll in AAA? There were other options , I think both share equal blame there.
  5. I mean, seriously? There's lots of different ways to be "shrewd" or to "gamble"... giving 2 pitchers $7 million so you can cut them in a month and send them to AAA would not qualify for either.
  6. Give which one a pass, Molitor or Ryan? Ryan is the one who sets that 40 man roster, so.... Also, they cut a catcher from the 40 man to try and promote a guy who would rather retire, so I don't buy into the fact they couldn't have found a way to keep Kepler in Rochester getting at bats.
  7. They've won a playoff game more recently than the Twins. They've also changed Management because they weren't satisfied with terrible results.
  8. I agree Molitor deserves a lot of blame there, but I'm not so sure about absolving Ryan for the Buxton, Meyer, Polanco, Kepler treatment.
  9. I don't think anyone can pick up Milone unless they want to pay his salary, he can't refuse an assignment to Rochester
  10. I think that is a good prediction, and a good spot for Vargas. I don't think anyone who watched him try to hit Major League pitching last year would claim him if outrighted by the Twins.
  11. I think you could add Vargas to this list. Is there really a need to protect him at this point?
  12. That's a positive. Terry Ryan found the market inefficiency and is exploiting it, by snapping up all High K - No position guys out there.
  13. From a Jon Heyman story back in November 2014.. "Molitor was the favorite going into the Twins managerial derby, as was suggested here a month ago and at other times, and according to one Twins insider the "hand-picked guy" of GM Terry Ryan, and according to league sources also eventually the first choice of Twins owner Jim Pohlad, as well".
  14. That seems to be the general consensus. I'm not absolving Molitor in anyway, I've been as disappointed in the job he's done so far as anyone (this is what happens when you hire someone with ZERO experience). But, I think this is taking it a little easy on Ryan. It has been a poorly constructed 25 man and 40 man roster since basically opening day. No plan, one move never seems to have the next move in mind. Kepler doesn't even get the call if they had another actualy OF option on the 40man
  15. That game was on April 25th. He started on May 3rd.
  16. Milone only started 1 game after Meyer was called up, and he went 4.2 innings I believe. Meyer didn't pitch in that game. So I'm not really seeing how this argument is valid at all
  17. I've heard plenty, I guess you think much higher of Dick and Bert than I do. I get nothing out of listening to them, and think they are very very bad, just like some of the announcing duos you listed.
  18. I think you can add Polanco to that list as well. There are certain players that can have 1 bad game and be on the bench the next night, the types of guys who are learning to be Major Leaguers, and are bound to struggle at times. Buxton, Arcia, etc. I know Buxton looked terrible, and I'm not even disagreeing with sending him down... but part of the reason I'm glad they sent him down is Molitor was playing him 2 of 3, or 3 of 4 days. How sharp can a 22 year old stay when he's being bounced in and out of the lineup, and knows a 0-4 will put him on the bench the next night. But then you have the other side - Danny Santana can be the worst player in baseball over 100 games and is suddenly the teams everyday leadoff hitter. Heck of a double standard.
  19. A lack of understanding is different than open disdain. I stand by my comment that they routinely mock any form of advanced stat. I don't need the broadcasters to talk about PECOTA or BaseRuns. But they could at least reference OBP more than Avg, ignore pitcher wins, etc. Maybe the Avg fan would be a little more informed or even interested in hearing basic advanced stats? I've heard plenty of other broadcast teams as well. Dick and Bert are definitely in the Bottom 5. *My ranking goes up significantly if Tom Kelly is in the booth. Or even Jack Morris or Roy Smalley, while I think they are more of the caveman type baseball guys, they seem more willing to give the viewer knowledge than just what the media guide says
  20. Obviously I was being facetious. I think his perceived fielding value was greatly exaggerated during the great Sano to RF debate. He makes routine plays, he's better than he was when he 1st moved to 3rd. He's horrendous at balls to his right. None of the FSN replay angles showed it perfectly, but each one looked like that ball was literally 1 step to his right, and he hardly had moved from his stance by the time the ball reached the outfield. It was hit hard, but not THAT hard.
  21. Meyer's outing might have looked a little different if the hard ground ball Correa hit 1 foot to the right of Plouffe had been fielded. Anytime someone tells me Plouffe is a great defensive 3rd baseman I would like to show them a loop of "highlights" on balls hit to his right.
  22. I'll have to respectfully disagree. If I wanted to know the insides and outs of the media guide each night, I would just read it myself... don't need Bert to read it to me. The open disdain for any advanced stats, Bremer's inability to distinguish between a 250 foot flyball and a 450 foot home run, etc.
  23. I was talking about the current Twins leadoff hitter, Danny Santana, apologize for not being more clear. But yeah, I guess those overall leadoff numbers are pretty awful as well
  24. His obp since the start of last year is .246. He likely wouldn't even be in my lineup, so I would basically lead anyone else off.
  25. Santana leading off, Rosario in lineup, Arcia on bench.
