  1. I think there is some recency bias to Taj as MVP based on start last night. The start before he was not getting favorable comments. He has been more consistent than in the past but still needs to show more to go to the next level. It still feels like he lacks some of the mental toughness needed, the Field of Dreams game was a great example where he laid an egg in a big spotlight. He has had a good season, but I would not consider it MVP, if so, it's more a reflection of the team than Taj.
  2. Most people would say it's odd except for our spreadsheet geniuses.
  3. @PuckettPond I think your keyboard is broken again. Either leave a comment or scroll past my comments. The thumbs down on every one is starting to get a a little creepy and almost feels like you are stalking me.
  4. Roden really needs to be third in the pecking order for playing time behind ERod and Jenkins, fair or not. They are two of our top prospects, they need to be in the lineup.
  5. Hey at least Bell didn't ground out into a double play this time.
  6. Still no Jenkins even when given the opportunity to put him back in there.
  7. And Shelton sits our hottest hitter, play the best players and stop worrying about the side of the plate they stand on.
  8. I think most teams have been reducing their scouting departments, so I am not so sure it is about cost savings per se. I agree that it doesn't seem that the analytics group ever has any reductions and they will be making the decisions going forward. I am more curious about the timing of this move, why are they making moves in the staff. Does this mean Zoll has been told he will be back. You would think if his future hasn't been decided that they would not make any staff changes big or small until it has been especially this late in the season.
  9. There are multiple comments on this thread about this topic but yet you choose mine to respond to, kind of makes you wonder why.
  10. You are making an assumption that TP isn't giving full authority. There is nothing saying he is or isn't.
  11. No I am a realist, it is about more than money. Other teams can do it with less money but Falvey couldn't because he didn't do a good of developing players. And that won't change no matter how much money you want to at the payroll if Zoll is allowed to stay.
  12. Shh, he is our best hitter, you are not allowed to point this out.
  13. What investments did you want him to make. I don't think there was good direction during the offseason because of the ownership situation being in flux until December. And what would trading for one big contract at the deadline have done. This offseason will be the time to tell what direction they are going to take.
  14. We have no way of knowing how much he is involved in day to day decision making if any. There are only 30 of these jobs, there will be interest in the position if it became open. It is not all about payroll, Milwaukee, Cleveland and Tampa seem to be able to find candidates.
  15. As you stated earlier this is why you need a Dave D. type, they will show Tom P. a plan and they also know how to help sell it to the fans as well because they would have a vision.
  16. I agree completely, but I am worried that Tom P. is going to try and hire the next wunderkid if he does anything. I do wonder with the firing of Deron Johnson if Zoll has been told he will be back. That kind of firing and the timing seems strange if there are going to be changes, let the new guy make them.
  17. While I am not high on Shelton, I do think the front office is influencing this as well. They are the common denominator to all these decisions that have not changed over the years. Such as favoring veterans over the younger players like the lineup tonight.
  18. Zebby should get the start Sunday over Kremer, again it feels like giving preference to a traded for veteran over the players you have developed. And it is at home where he has pitched well.
  19. That was last off season, that doesn't explain the decision making during the season. You don't sit a guy for two months, not play him, then release him a week before the end of the season. Then the player you call up for him, add to the 40 man roster, you don't play him. Or you don't call Gray up a second time after he shows he is not a major league player. You can still make some decisions, to keep using last off season as an excuse is no longer viable to me.
  20. Agree on Ross, but also called up Sabato, why just to sit him. There is no reason he shouldn't play the final 5 games of the season. Why make the move and then sit him. This team is truly directionless.
