  1. Sorry still figuring out how to use tools on this sight. Who had the better ops?
  2. Twins way= easy does it, don't get too wrapped up in the challenge at hand, think long term, relax, no pressure, it all comes out in the wash, think long haul and big picture. Mauer by the way albeit a great player ain't your team leader. Somebody please kick over a water cooler or chew someone's arse for today's failures and show some urgency and emotion.
  3. I forgot to say dump Bartlett too.
  4. For me, these are the things I would do differently. 1. Tonkin trained, prepared and was real good in spring training. Clearly came in and earned a spot. You send a real positive message to the guys when you reward this. I like Deduno but he gets waived under my way of thinking about it. 2. Flourimon out, Santana and Escobar in. I can live with a learning curve on Santana and he adds something interesting to watch. Also, I like him working with the big league coaches. 3. Throw some dollars at Kendrys Moralis, send Kubel packing. I don't mind losing a draft pick. These things add intrigue and perhaps even a little something to get excited about IMO. Not as excited as I would be if Ryan and Gardenhire were relieved of their duties though. Thanks for listening.
  5. Absolutely agree.
  6. I could not agree more.
  7. It's a results thing IMHO. They replaced several coaches last year. At some point I look to the drivers of the ship for accountability. For me that would mean Gardenhire and Ryan need to be replaced. Three years of 90 plus losses and here we are a week from the opener and we are looking at guys like Bartlett potentially rounding out the roster and we are hoarding AAAA players because they are out of options. So, to speak directly to the topic of accountability, my opinion is replace the GM and the Coach.
  8. Good catch. I also forgot that the pitchers gotta "miss some bats."
  9. Sooooo.......your sayin there's a chance!!! YYYeeeessssssss!!!!
  10. I'm looking forward to the season getting under way so I can head out to the ballpark and throw down a few hot dogs, crunch on some peanuts and dump a few bevies down my opinion hole. People are going to be elevating out of their seats and slapping high fives left and right as long as the boys follow the game plan. Pitchers need to get the ball to "come out of their hands real good" while "creating a nice angle" and even "spinning one" in to the strike zone from time to time to trick the opposition. On defense, the guys need to "really pick it over there" on the infield and "run em down" like crazy in the outfield. The hitters need to "get the good part of the bat on one" and "put it in play." Maybe even "back spin one" on occasion so that it travels a great distance and they can take there time getting around the bases. Guys on the base pads need to get "running around all over the place out there" to create some excitement and score some runs. How bored and ready for the season to start must I be to assemble this list of Twins "isms." Go Twins!!
  11. I'm trying to figure out why they are considering keeping Bartlett and here is all I can seem to come up with. I may be way off base but it's a little different angle than what I have seen posted here. Maybe they are thinking that they might let Florimon and his .219 lifetime batting average go? Escobar's lifetime average is slightly higher, he is younger and has shown signs in spring training of taking the next step towards maybe being able to provide some offense from the shortstop position with Bartlett as the utility guy until later in the season when they maybe bring Santana up and return Escobar to the utility role and trade/release Bartlett? IDK
  12. The AAA guys are just a phone call and a day away; and having the perfect roster is less important than having a larger pool of players who can fill roles as injuries inevitably occur. I would contend that this is true but not to the extent that the Twins take it to. They end up with an influx of AAAA players at their top levels and don't necessarily reward those who appear to be progressing quite enough. I think it sends a bit of a mixed message to the players who you expect to be competing very hard when sometimes they know that it just doesn't matter. I would offer Theilbar, Tonkin and Colabello as examples of my point. All deserving of being rewarded for their efforts and results. Wanting to win and setting a culture for winning are two different things IMHO. I would prefer to focus on planning to win as opposed to planning for injuries by keeping AAAA players around to hoard them for impending disaster while diluting the major league roster. I think this is an area of frustration for a few fans out there.
  13. I would enjoy watching Pinto behind the plate 5 days a week under the direction of the major league coaches(supposed to be your organization's top teachers) much more than I would enjoy a season of Suzuki who is probably not the future. I would prefer Colabello and Parmalee on the 25 man roster for a full season to see what their ceilings might be as opposed to plugging Kubel and Bartlett and Presley in there. Tonkin was fun to watch in spring training and did a really good job. Thielbar was very solid last year. I would rather keep those guys on track and progressing as they currently appear to be. If you stick Diamond and/or Deduno in the pen and send them down, what message does that send? The guys have done what you asked them to do. I doubt that we need to hoard our fringe players considering our track record these past 3 years.
  14. Starters- Pinto, Mauer, Dozier, Plouffe, Florimon, Willingham, Hicks, Arcia, DH Colabello/Parmalee platoon Bench- Suzuki, Escobar, Colabello/Parmalee, Pressley Starters- Nolasco, Hughes, Corriea, Pelfrey, Gibson Pen- Perkins, Burton, Feiin, Duensing, Swarczak, Thielbar, Tonkin AAA- Kubel, Bartlett, Hermann Waivers- Diamond, Deduno Let Kubel prove he's back on Rochesters time. Bartlett, I'm just not interested for so many reasons. Diamond and Deduno dont crack the rotation so don't dilute another area of your team by putting them in the pen.
  15. Colabello, Thielbar, Tonkin yes please. All three are better than other options. Not a big fan of playing the who has options game. I prefer putting the best 25 out there.
