  1. Bingo! We have a winner!
  2. What about this bares ford guy at ss?
  3. Mauer is obviously a work in progress at first base. Sheesh..........
  4. This will make things interesting for the bad teams and puts something in front of them that they have a reasonable chance of achieving. If your record gets too good you get relegated to a major league division and replaced with the next worst team. MLB "AAAA" Division Standings Team Wins Losses GB Diamondbacks 3 8 0 Astros 3 6 1 Twins 3 6 1 Padres 3 6 1 Reds 3 6 1 Cubs 3 5 1.5 Mets 3 5 1.5 Phillies 3 5 1.5 As you can see, the Twins are already in the thick of the race. They will remain in contention throughout the season! Now I can cheer every time they rearrange the lineup to put Mastro batting leadoff or try to make a reliever out of "Wild Thing" while Tonkin remains in the minors. Bartlett making the team out of camp is now actually a good thing! The boys can really "get after it" and get guys "runnin all over the place" out there like field mice and still remain competitive in this division! It's a win - win as far as I'm concerned.
  5. Classic!
  6. Welcome....grab a beer and cop a squat.

  7. Some of my fondest childhood memories were with the Twins game playing on the radio in the background. I remember going to bed early on school nights against my will and catching the end of the game on my transistor radio laying there in the dark in my bed. I remember laying elbows down on the living room carpet in front of a black and white tv on a Saturday afternoon watching a ball game while sorting my Topps baseball cards in to piles by team and wishing I had a few bucks to buy some more wax packs to try and complete my collection for that year. At school all my buddies knew who was closest to completing their collection and that person was the envy of all others. Many important trades took place on the playground. All were carefully calculated and afterwards discussed for value just like actual big league trades. One family evening has always repeated itself in my mind.... After a day of walleye fishing on Lake Mille Lacs, I spent an hour wading in the water tipping rocks looking for crawdads until dark. My dad came down to tell me it was time to come back to the camp site down the road from lakeside about 75 yards. It was just deep enough in to the woods to where the forest shadowed total darkness on to the campsite. Except for the flickering of the orange fire. I laid flat on my back on one of those folding lawn chairs looking up at the sky through the opening in the trees. Void of any city lights I could pick out great detail in the stars. Even an occasional shooting star or tiny bit of faint movement that I speculated must be from another world. My parents had beers and chatted by the fire while I tuned them out and listened to the closing innings of the Twins game on the radio. The way I remember it, Mike Marshall threw 120 mph fastballs in the 9th to secure the win for the Twins. I went in to the tent and slid in to my flannel sleeping bag and zipped it up tightly to keep the crisp night air out. Best nights sleep I ever had.
  8. agreed
  9. 62-100 prediction, maybe then ownership has enough and brings in new leadership.
  10. I like to bi+ch when the team does horrible. It makes me feel better. Just like cheering when they have success makes me feel good. That does not mean that I don't understand two games does not make a season. It means I care and I expect a better product out of coaching and management. Both are underperforming. That's not opinion, it's fact. They truly are to blame.
  11. Turn down the volume and play circus music during the game replay. Baahaaaaaaa!
  12. Continuation question, with a runner on third and a notoriously wild and hard to catch Deduno on the hill, do you make a pitching change to an experienced reliever ......hmmmm
  13. I bet we lose 100 games this year. These guys suck! There, I feel better now.
  14. Twins win by two runs and move to 2-0!!!
  15. I say that for the 2014 season we change our team name to a softball team name like "The Dingers" or something like that. Then we go back to the baby blue uniforms of old and play circus music when the team takes the field! We could mentally spot The Dingers 3 runs each game and pretend to be in the playoff race! If we lose 4-2, we consider it a 5-4 win! At the end of the season when all the other fans are pi$$ed because we finished in the cellar, we will be celebrating like we won the world series!
  16. Looks like Gardie is gunna do one of his "tricky moves" with the way this batting order is set up. Here's what he does......He secretly alternates left/right/left/right through the batting order in order to "trick" the opposing pitcher. Before you know it, POW!!!, opposing pitcher is confused and the TWINS WIN!!! This one is going to be a dandy! Can't wait to see it unfold and see the "confused" responses from the White Sox pitchers! Tomorrow's lineup will be even more entertaining as he empties his bench and "gets everyone involved." Can't wait to see Plouffe playin first base, Bartlett in center field leading off and Mauer playing shortstop and batting 8th!
  17. Clutch is a RBI in a tight game, non is a solo shot in a out of hand gm
  18. How far out is Kohl Stewart?
  19. I sure hope he gets healthy for his own sake. From a baseball standpoint(not nearly as important) I hope he gets back on track. He is a guy I had been watching and really excited about.
  20. Sorry if this has already been asked/discussed. But what is the deal with Eddie Rosario? I mean besides the 50 game suspension. Any guesses or insight as to why he has not been around? Thank you.
  21. My deal is mostly that we had a horrible offense last year and all we came up with to help out was Kubel and Bartlett(as you mention towards the end of your article). Granted, if we are healthier this year and a few guys improve we could get a little more production out of what we have. I just want to feel like management is scratching and clawing to get us out of the cellar. It was great that we got some pitching help. But, it would be a feel good gesture for me if they could add a dandy stick to this squad who can really mash.
