  1. it's getting late early out there ...
  2. the old high-school play is for the catcher to zip the throw back to the pitcher -- enough to make the runner break from third and a much easier play for the pitcher (rather than the 2b) to make.
  3. indeed. i bought in '99 and thought the days of bargain rates were already long gone. lucky us.
  4. moderate weather (you don't hafta shovel rain!). as many weed shops as starbucks. and safeco/seattle is three hours away (four by amtrak). roll traffic and housing prices back to 1999 and making the move would be a no brainer.
  5. portland is terrific but traffic has become unbearable over the last 20 years, transforming working at home from luxury to near necessity. also, no mlb on the horizon in p-town -- not even aaa or aa (class-a in suburban hillsboro). but some very competitive adult baseball leagues that include lots of former college and pro players ...
  6. can't help thinking of paul blair. centerfielder extraordinaire ended with a career .302 obp and 96 ops+ over 17 seasons. also won eight gold gloves and finished in top 16 or better mvp three times. also played in six world series (four winners).

  8. where's that triple play when you need it?
  9. how bout the forecast for mexico? chili today, hot tamale.
  10. and that's how you earn $23 million per year.
  11. i used to decry the ridiculous salaries for sports stars. then, many years ago, a friend changed my perspective. "the money is there," he said. "the alternative is ownership getting it all."
  12. well, they sure can hit in colorado (home ops .810; away ops .671).
