  1. There's a song about being one's own grandparent. Not that i advocate such practices. Just pointing out possibilities.
  2. And Polanco lays down Beaut! 2 on and no out.
  3. Kepler didn't get to that one... Alas, it is a tie game.
  4. Cron hustles out the pop up. Is that a seeing eye double?
  5. Gave Cruz something to hit... We got us a lead!
  6. Okay, in front of a tele... What i miss?
  7. I will miss the first hourish, and maybe the very end of it, but i plan to see as much of the game as possible.
  8. Ah, Mr Tompkins goes to the Ballpark. No wonder umping is so difficult.
  9. If at first you don't succeed... Who's fault is it? Yes. The line ups seem to be...up. Fancy that. So i thought maybe i'd make up for my earlier mistake, maybe even get the drop on someone. Things to think about: 1. Speed. Buxton... Hamilton... My, that was quick! 2. Velocity. Apparently a focus of our pitchers. But that's just speed in a given direction. 3. That fancy new stat about how hard the ball is hit. Something about exit speed? Oh right. 4. And if i am going to get this intro up before someone else does, i better be fast... um yeah. 5. Sorry for being single minded today. Jose Berrios ( R) 1. Max Kepler (L) RF 2. Jorge Polanco (S) SS 3. Nelson Cruz (R ) DH 4. Eddie Rosario (L) LF 5. C.J. Cron (R ) 1B 6. M. Gonzalez (S) 3B 7. J. 10. Oh, today is April. Right. I have been a bit slow with my A's. But then i haven't had much to compare to since the Santana Trade, as the Twins haven't been too strong with their Ace either. And i coulda done more with this. I coulda leaned away from the trunk and asked what it felt to be next door neighbors (and then explained that when was a proper Minnesotan resident, i lived next to Byers) or i coulda gone out on an absurdly fragile twig about how they had traded Buxton for an entire team, kinda like Tarkenton to Giants was described to me as a kid. And i still could do those things, if the thread continues. But yeah, it don't seem like this caught on. Actually i like to think you all saw through my cunning ploy, that i'm not left handed, nor could i switch game threads while your back was turned. Well done, you! Anyway, thanks for putting up with my peculiar sense of humor.
  11. Very carefully take the start of the game thread thread thread between your index finger and thumb in one hand, and take the needle in your other hand, and gently push the thread through the eye until it comes out the other side and you can grab it and pull it the rest of the way through. If it is difficult lining up the eye and the thread, consider closing one eye. It allowes for easier alignment, but sacrifices depth perception, so only do it in a close game to get a runner in scoring position.
  12. Too lazy to look up the numbers, but i bet management agrees. This is why Willians commands the larger salary?
  13. 2019 is only 1 number, and it doesn't look like it is having much fun with anything... But an enteraining thread so far. Do go on, please! Don't mind me...
  14. Happy August Fool's day! Some are born, some are made, but y'all have foolishness thrust upon ye! Today's foolishness is taking a look at the big picture instead of the immediate game. Who'd ever think we'd be here back at the start of the season? Rookie manager and all (and see how well he manages rookies!) Did ya agree with the trades? Are well positioned for the remainder of the season? Some people might call it a stretch run, but i have find it difficult to stretch and run at the same time... That said, we're finishing up a little series at Miami. We done pretty good this road trip, even with one designated hitter tied behind our back... Wouldn't mind facing them again this year! Lineups, weather, and worse jokes to come. And remember, pacing one's self is a good idea... Ya don't want to get burned out, do ya?
  15. Much rejoicing! Once i finally caught up on the thread...
  16. I probably missed it too. Baseball is such a fast paced game...
  17. Hmmm... Thanks for the suggestion. Will ponder it... By computer these days, i think you mean cellphone (not to poke fun at yer age or anything, just the way i guess i been rolling of late) If i post wicked early, i can always post the line up day of, and that will bump back into view... I think the design question is whether i want it to be a surprise, or think other folk could flush it out better than i given half a chance. And there sure have been times when that was the case. Anyway, i'll try to throw something together Sunday for a later date exactly how bad an idea it is.
  18. Yes! (Not sure where this thread is going, i just have a strong feeling it needs to exist...)
