  1. I am rooting for Mr. Albers, same as i'll root for Mr. Thielbar. And i'm still glad Torii Hunter came back for another stint.
  2. Half the line ups... 1. Luis Arraez (L) DH 2. Byron Buxton (R) CF 3. Jorge Polanco (S) 2B 4. Josh Donaldson (R) 3B 5. Max Kepler (L) RF 6. Miguel Sano (R) 1B 7. Rob Refsnyder (R) LF 8. Ryan Jeffers (R) C 9. Andrelton Simmons (R) SS
  3. Let me know when it gets to "Same as it ever was"
  4. I too am rooting for Mr. Dobnak. And at the risk of jinxing him, he seems to be doing okay since run 5?
  5. Carry on. Don't mind my apostrophe. And kudos for erudite vocabulary!
  6. I really like the early intros for their use of video effects of the time, and the anthem is one of the few bits of music employing a theremin, which really endears it to me. But yeah, as it gets to the 80s, they get progressively cheesier. As for the various plots, they range from pretty cool sci fi, to some over the top monster of the week plots, but the progression of plots involving the daleks are often quite inspired in both directions: the absurdity of a monster that isn't much more than a cardboard box and a plunger that has no indoor voice, and the intricate back and forth between the doctor and them as age old adversaries. And the use of the tardis/time travel as allowing the writers to set the story anywhere and anywhen, but not useful or reliable to be used to solve the immediate problem of the plot line. Heck, the third doctor being exiled to Earth and becoming a consultant for UNIT is an excellent set up. Anyway, yeah. It is a lot, but it was worth it.
  7. I tried to flush out my Dr. Who wisdom early in the pandemic with moderate success. I perhaps should have been taking notes so i caught everything, but it does require a certain dedicated attention span... Not entirely unlike watching this season of the Twins' games. I would say it was worth it.
  8. Which season of cheesy opening credits did you get hung up on?
  9. So, we are like the spy in Stratego? That does tend to close the standings... I approve.
  10. At closer inspection, maybe it is a gold ribbon on all the uniforms, roughly the same shape and right place for TNG communicators....
  11. Ryan throwing to Ryan went okay save a long 3rd inning including a 3 run dinger. We ain't done much on our end.
  12. And when else will i get another chance to reference Ida... I best make the most of it.... (this song aptly emotes what it is like to follow the Twins this summer) (Also, picked the first link in the search, later entries might have been better...)
  13. But of course it would now be poor form to correct it.
  14. No car wreck, glad to say. But remains of Ida make for some wet roads.
  15. Are there jokes about USAFChief? I thought they'd died out in the teens...
  16. Sorry i'm late returning... What i miss from the Ryan Battery?
  17. Concur. Kinda figured whatever i did as an intro clever presentation wise was already upstaged by Joe Ryan, so i decided to live with that. Oh, the other guys: 1. Rafael Ortega (L) CF 2. F. Schwindel (R) DH 3. Ian Happ (S) LF 4. Patrick Wisdom (R) 3B 5. Matt Duffy (R) 2B 6. Jason Heyward (L) RF 7. Austin Romine (R) C 8. Alfonso Rivas (L) 1B 9. S. Alcantara (S) SS
  18. In the spirit of "look, 4 white horses. and there are 4 of us", and with blatant apologies to Mr. Letterman, and the decade of the 90s, here are the top ten reasons for watching tonight's game (and perhaps complaining about it on a game thread) 10: Andrelton Simmons is playing short stop and batting 9: Willians Astudillo is playing first base and batting 8: Ryan Jeffers is catching and batting 7: Brent Rooker is playing left field and batting 6: Miguel Sano is hitting designatedly and batting 5: Josh Donaldson is playing 3rd base and batting 4: Rob Refsnyder is playing right field and batting 3: Jorge Polanco is playing 2nd base and batting 2: Byron Buxton is playing center field and batting 1: Joe Ryan is pitching! Cubs just have 1 reason so far: Justin Steele is pitching (and i might forget to post something if i wait) I like our chances!
  19. Welcome back, Mr. Dobnak! And i think some other thread somewhere on this site said Mr. Ryan was starting for the Twins today...
  20. Triples to Buxton? I thought those kinds of gameday updates were reserved for Cave?
