  1. Inclined to look at the 211 PAs in LA to get a better idea of what's coming than the 20 PAs with the Twins so far. We're talking about a 31 yo who wall-scraped over an 800 OPS once in his career and then got paid for it. No problem having him place hold the rest of the season, although I'd personally rather see Adrianza out there every day. But, with Ehire being the more versatile, switch-hitting, speedy type, he does make more sense coming off the bench. Glad LoFo had a good night, but leaving it at that.
  2. He's going for Russo's record. Let's not make it more difficult.
  3. Admiral Poopooer Tapthebrakes only exists to offset Lloyd Christmas.
  4. Great article, Seth. You put together a great comparison piece with lots of options for expectations that, I'm sure, was meant to generate some positive yet tempered excitement surrounding a top Twins prospect. I just hope the general feeling on the board can stay positive and tempered, instead of taking a hard left into fantasyland. Once you enter fantasyland, there seems to be no return. Then the pitfalls start hurting feelings and crushing expectations. The end result ends up being a season long general bashing of a once popular fantasy super hero. See Miguel Sano. He can't even strikeout once in a game without someone spinning it as a failure.
  5. 98 PAs, dude. Or, is that kind of like when Chris Parmelee mastered the MLB level in 2011?
  6. So lots of hope and squinting was needed to picture 2017 Platinum Glove Winner Byron Buxton being a young performer when he put up a 944 OPS with double-digit everything in 2013. I remember the fanfare being pretty much the same. Sure there is excitement, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.
  7. Good to see a decent game from Gordon .... He needs to build on that and really pick it up the rest of the month. Arraez looks to be making a run at being the Twins top MIF prospect (at least on the offensive side), so hopefully that pushes Gordon to improve. I would be interested in the odds of the following keystone combos a year from now: 1) Polanco/Gordon 2) Polanco/Arraez 3) Polanco/Other #3 probably has the best odds until you plug an actual name in there. EDIT: I should qualify "Twins top MIF prospect" as who will be ready first. I don't want to imply that I think Arraez is a better prospect than Lewis.
  8. Apparently, Jim Callis thinks Gordon is playing well, so it's not just the locals who are fooled. Do the Pipeline writers even check in on prospects, or do they just make stuff up?
  9. Wow, more posts suggesting Gordon get the call and questioning Forsythe blocking him. He has about three weeks to figure out AAA, or he won't even be a top 100 prospect next year. By that time, he should have well over 300 PAs with the Red Wings. If that ends with this sub-50 wRC+ non-sense, there is no way he should be looked at in September. He'll need to be added to the 40, so that will probably get him an ST invite. I wouldn't say he "deserves" that though.
  10. Hershiser = joke ... I'd almost rather listen to Torii make stuff up
  11. Morrison should be passed thru waivers, and if there is zero interest just release him and call up Austin.
  12. For a true grade, I would factor in the performance of the player replacing the traded player. Right now, Mejia, Sano and Moya are making the Lynn, Escobar and Duke trades look better. Adrianza and,to a lesser extent, May are making the Pressly and Dozier trades look worse. So for me, this is collectively an A ATM.
  13. Bombs in his first game like a boss!
  14. Mejia will end up getting Cleveland 3 times in August, including today. Next two are in their house. Great opportunity to see how he fairs against the current rivals. Tough assignment.
  15. Watching Mejia makes the return for Lance Lynn just seem like free players.
  16. Not sure whether or not he "deserved" it, but I think now is the best time for a final evaluation. He's either running out of options or may be out next spring, so it may be now or never for him. I'd give him several appearances before passing judgement. He does have his velocity back, so that's encouraging. I'll believe it when I see it though.
  17. Not sure I can root for the Dodgers, unless they are playing the Yankees, but I wish Dozier the best. I'll still root for him when he has the opportunity to make a play or get a hit.
  18. It's part of Falvine's job to sell this team to the fans. From the lowest level of the minors to the latest big league acquistions, they are always going to present the best possible spin. As an example, Falvey's comments on Logan Forsythe reflect that more than anything else. I'm 95% sure that Forsythe was part of the deal due to the Dodgers current payroll proximity to the luxury tax limit, but Falvey went with how much they liked Forsythe. Getting cynical or judging the FO based on comments made during an inning in the broadcast booth is basically the same as judging a house on the market because of some cheap faux wood blinds that were put up before an open house. If Forsythe is offered as an FA, then a big plate of crow will be what I deserve.
  19. Random thoughts: Continually giving opportunities to someone performing as poorly as Belisle is borderline sabotage. Especially when you consider wasted opportunity to look at someone like Busenitz. Miguel Sano didn't strike out! Torii Hunter was one of my favorites, but he is just embarrassing himself in the press box.
  20. Diaz probably drops off that radar. He's been brutal since his promotion to A+ and now he's hurt.
  21. and about 500 more PAs than Rooker, with less results (except for a lower K-rate), who is probably his competition (or platoon mate?)
  22. IMO, Forsythe coming probably benefits Gordon. NG needs to focus on finishing the AAA season on a high note. If someone's struggling to swim in the deep end, you don't pull them out, fit them with a 40# weight vest, and then throw them back in. It isn't going to look any better.
  23. Some days Belisle needs a day off from being the Mojo guy.
