  1. I'm not sure what you mean in the second sentence of the second paragraph. 1) Twins fans were down on Sano this offseason. 2) Sano made poor decisions during the offseason. If it's #2 and is an allusion to the allegations, that's simply untrue. Alleged events supposedly took place in 2015.
  2. I'd give Berrios and Gibson their 9, and then I'd divide it up from there. That's just my hope that that Twins can end the season with a pair of 200 IP 200K pitchers. We'll see if they can make it happen. I hope they can move Santana for a bucket of balls before his next start, so that the zero you have listed will happen.
  3. The pitchers only gave up 9 runs across 4 games, so there had to be some bright spots on that side.
  4. Not sure ... They don't start games until October. It looks like Tommy Watkins is the manager of the team where Twins players will play.
  5. Maybe they should demote Lewis and Kirilloff back to CR and try to win a dirty championship ... Seriously, I hope both Lewis and Kirilloff at least get to go to AFL, along with Rooker, Wells and maybe Moran.
  6. Until someone can get Madison Bumgarner's opinion on this matter, I hesitate to categorize said act.
  7. It's his second appearance since the DL stint, but we only have a SS of 6.2 innings. First 3.1 innings leave a lot to be desired Last 3.1 innings are perfect. So it can be spun any way one wants ... I'll wait until 62 innings vs. 6.2
  8. He had a really rough first inning. It looks like an error led to him coming unglued. He did finish his day setting down 10 in a row with 4 Ks in those 10 outs.
  9. If Stewart gets another start, which I hope he does, he may benefit from Wilson being behind the plate. This could also benefit Garver, since he could get more input into how to call Stewart. I know giving games to players like Wilson isn't what everyone wants at this juncture, but this may be an exception.
  10. Arraez is just 21 and lost a season to an injury. I don't think he's being held back playing two levels this season. It took him a couple weeks to adjust to adjust to AA, and now he's been back to hitting everything (.419/.454/.548/1.002 in August). I think they'll bump him to AAA in 2019.
  11. If we consider that Castellanos is probably the biggest threat in the Tigers lineup, May was definitely brought in during the "high leverage" situation. I'm not going to defend the overuse of Hildenberger or the call to use him when he has obviously been getting shelled, but a couple things to consider: 1) The poster calling Molitor an idiot for using Hildenberger against left-handed hitters must not have noticed that Martinez and Goodrum are both switch-hitters. That argument needs at least more development. 2) Hildenberger's change-up has been the pitch that's been getting drilled. I think hitters are sitting on it, and it's been the frisbee that they're looking for. He did ditch that pitch after the Goodrum bomb. Using his only sinking fastball, which did have some movement, during what became a high leverage situation, he actually was quite effective. He probably can't go with being a one-pitch pitcher for the balance of the season, but in this situation, it was the right move.
  12. LoMo done ... Wish him the best, but a welcome development in a silver lining kind of way
  13. Insanity = Doing the same thing over and over again (posting discontent over Gonsalves not getting a look and misguided discontent over Gordon not getting a look) and expecting different results. The grumpy posts regarding these two are becoming borderline spam.
  14. Best of luck to Stewart. I guess there is no time better than the present to give him a shot. Hopefully, he can show why he was drafted so high. That would be better than adding to the reminder that Stewart/Gordon/Jay could have been Manaea/Nola/Benintendi.
  15. They can get lazy though. Jim Callis literally wrote that Gordon is playing well on August 2nd. When I see stuff like that, I tend to lean more toward the sentiment that draft position or bonus money create bias in the rankings.
  16. You make an excellent point and the numbers show it. Kepler's been at a 16-17 LD%, while Bregman and Benintendi are 22-23%. Kepler did have a 22-23% rate in his monster A+/AA season of 2015. Yes, it's an outlier, but he was pretty young and likely physically immature player in the seasons prior to that. He's made the adjustment against LHP at the big league level, so I'm hopeful that he can adjust again to drive the ball more. He's been slower to develop at the big league level, but we have been able to see a player that is maturing year over year. I wouldn't bet on him getting to perennial outputs of Bregman and Benintendi, but if it happened, I wouldn't be that surprised either.
  17. He had one good game and some walks. He was gifted a TD Hitter of the Day Award when there were at least 3-4 more deserving candidates. For August: .161/.257/.161/.418 11.4% BB-Rate 22.8% K-Rate Solid BB-Rate, but otherwise yuck Meanwhile, Arraez is right on Gordon's tailgate at AA For August: .434/.480/.478/.958 8% BB-Rate 0% K-Rate Let's watch that sample size over the rest of the month for these two players. My money would be on Arraez passing Gordon on the prospect board sans bias. For some, I think he already has.
  18. Great article. May it rain four-leaf clovers on Max next season. If there is such thing as a luck account, might as well credit the rest of the season. Go big on debits next season.
  19. All on Molitor ... Should have had Moya ready for Lindor after Hildy gave up his first runner
  20. If you want an immune-compromised person to get better, would you inject them with cancerous lymphocytes?
  21. I wouldn't add anyone to the 40 that doesn't need it. If Rooker continues to rake through August, send him to the AFL. If he destroys that, put him in AAA at the beginning of the year and then call him up after a few weeks, if he shows that he is the best bet going forward. I'd for sure get Romero back up, especially if Mejia is going to need any time on the DL. Come September, if Santana is still around, keep Berrios and Gibson on their regular pattern and then rotate Santana, Odorizzi, Romero and Mejia. Give Gonsalves that double header start at the end of September. If Santana can be moved after clearing waivers, then give Gonsalves his spot and let Littell pitch in the double-header.
  22. Looking into the numbers a little, Larnach (30%) and Jeffers (40%) were hitting line drives a lot more than Williams (20%) is. Williams seems to be an extreme fly ball hitter with power. He has the 22% HR/FB rate, but he also pops-up 33% of the time. I'm also surprised that he hasn't moved, but that's my best attempt to understand why (with numbers). Rodriguez and Cabbage are already taking a good share of those 1B PAs and don't seem like move down candidates, so there is a player numbers issue as well. I'm sure they want Williams playing every day with the short season. Maybe, it's just what happens when you add 11 players to the system at the deadline.
  23. In the current situation, a player who has been producing the way he has should be getting one of the longest looks. I was surprised he still hasn't had 300 MLB PAs. At least give him DH against LHP the rest of the year (of course, Austin may have a say in that come September)
