  1. Sub out Kubel for Colabello Sub out Bartlett for Presley Sub out Worley for Tonkin Those three are gone. Diamond needs to "get an injury" for the time being.
  2. I am sure this has been posted elsewhere, but with Gardy perhaps liking Meyer out of the bullpen initially, this really has to push the aging guys like Guerrier out of the picture, right? I imagine at some point, they would send Meyer down to AAA to stretch out and come back starting in July or some such thing, but that would seem to mean a younger guy like Tonkin or Guerra would come up. I would add Guerrier to the list with Kubel as competition fodder. And it may have helped some guys.
  3. I believe an average of WAR (Fangraphs and BR) for Florimon in 2013 was 2.0. Now imagine his bat improving a bit this year after his first full-ish season in MLB?
  4. You do know that Escobar's career MLB OPS is lower than Florimon's, right? Given that, and given Florimon's defense is better, where is there an error in judgment?
  5. Kubel should be willing to play in Rochester as he can be assured that any injury to a position player and he is likely the guy brought up. He and Guerrier are competition for the younger guys. Younger guys win.
  6. Hopefully Danny Santana follows the Florimon model of defense (though hopefully at 3-4 years younger) and moves from flashy, spectacular, and routine-play-error-prone, to just flashy and spectacular. Florimon just needs to make more contact. He's a potential 15-25 homer-sb guy at his best.
  7. I have always thought that Hicks should return to starting in CF out of camp. Just not batting leadoff!
  8. I don't even begin to understand having Pinto in a true backup role. Catching every day and hitting every day in games seems more valuable. Suzuki is not good, though. So there's that. Everything else here makes sense. I don't understand why there hasn't been more said throughout the last few years about how Danny Santana has real fielding issues.
  9. Yes, yes, yes that would be nice. I am sure a top 15-20 Braves prospect could be had.
  10. This is a pretty cheap deal for a guy who in the post Mariano and soon post Nathan era, might be a top five closer. I really commend the Twins and Perkins for doing this. It also serves to give structure to the bullpen . . . not all of these potential fireballers coming up provide some very deep setup capability for 2015 and beyond.
  11. I don't think it is anywhere near the least exciting and it certainly is near the top in most informative.
  12. The Twins almost need either Romero or Colabello as that RH bat on the bench. I don't think they are going to roll out with two utility infielders. That would be silly beyond anything Gardy would do.
  13. I am surprised that there aren't more comments on this. This is very helpful in understanding May's situation and what needs to happen. I think some of the above comments miss the point entirely. I have to wonder if the Twins, like, know the content of your article here.
  14. Forget the depth or lack there of. De Aza isn't very good.
  15. Why Willingham wasn't traded at the deadline is still beyond my comprehension.
  16. Even though the money was minimal with Suzuki, clearly they should have just gone with Pinto and Herrmann, with Fryer in AAA as emergency.
  17. Is there any real evidence that Ramirez is a better hitter than Mastro?
  18. Wilkin Ramirez is not much of a hitter. And it is feasible that Chris Herrmann could play CF in a pinch. He's pretty athletic. It would be nice for him to get some action either at CF or 3B. A C/4 corners guy is a nice guy to have as the 13th man. That way Pinto can play every day in Rochester until this Suzuki business fizzles out (which it will). The most sense to me is to start Hicks in CF and let Presley be the 4th OF. Presley is a very good 4th OF. Call me weird for being excited about not having Ramirez or the Clete Thomases of the world on the roster there. Parmelee absolutely has to demonstrate that he can also play LF. That has to be obvious to him, right?
  19. Good lord. I like Wilkin Ramirez and have been on the record since he was signed as being so. But good lord! He provided NO power in his limited time last year. He is not, at all, a bench bat. If this team was of the kind to roll with an 11-man pitching staff as it should (though not out in April), then it would make some sense to even consider Wilkin. But are we really content on focusing on a few games in damn spring training . . . seriously? For real? I think Wilkin had his chance last year at the beginning of the year. It did not happen. It very likely will not happen. There is no need to waste any time here. That is *obvious*!
  20. Waring is not going to be a major leaguer. Romero could end up being a good candidate to fill in as bench bat later this season.
  21. It worked with Meyer. At least we hope he doesn't have trouble this year . . . Moving towards a lost Twins season. A key thing for my interest this year was Sano in June.
  22. Well, Herrmann is opposite-hitting from Suzuki and can play the OF corners pretty well. Suzuki is the "defensive" catcher, so it would seem odd to have Fryer involved instead of Herrmann.
