  1. I'm not sure $ is an issue, but yeah this signing would make about as much sense as signing Park did. Mauer is stuck at first and the Twins have DH candidates. Signing him would have been a mistake. Any move the Twins make that isn't about pitching and defense is a waste of time.
  2. I'm wondering why Gimenez would be trying to recruit anybody in any serious way. He's probably #4 on the depth chart and probably won't be with the team.
  3. Why would you panic anyway? This team isn't going to the playoffs.
  4. But then Dozier and possibly others get traded and the team coasts to the finish line as in previous years.
  5. A little aggressive but not too much. I could see it.
  6. MLB.com and some other sites don't have the box score for the game. ESPN has it. http://www.espn.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=370228130
  7. Park had a really good ST last year too. None of this counts.
  8. However, this isn't Josh Donaldson saying, "I was hitting .200 before two weeks ago. I'm hitting .450 now because I'm only swinging at things low in the strike zone."
  9. I haven't moved anything. Fixing a problem like, "Wow, I didn't even notice I wasn't standing in the batter's box" isn't at all what I was ever talking about. You simply took a narrow view of what I stated and chose to dig in your heels rather than comprehend what I was actually saying.
  10. Do you think that Dozier figuring out he was standing in the wrong place has anything to do with what I'm talking about?
  11. This is exactly what I just said. Make opposing teams look at film. Make them send out scouts. Don't do their work for them. Make them "figure it out" while playing them if they don't bother doing their homework. Saying that sports teams and players don't have strategies that they hold close to their chests is flat out wrong. The best players don't announce to the opposition what they plan to do.
  12. Yes, I would love to know what Dozier said that was specific.
  13. And eventually these guys will go home and the people still around will be telling them something else.
  14. The team had a great spring. They thought they were ready. Anybody would have made that same conclusion. None of us expected the team to be so bad so fast.
  15. He has looked good so far. It would seem daft for the Twins to block two guys for him, though. He's not THAT good, at least not at the moment. If he does not stick with the Twins he will get a job somewhere.
  16. Here is where the term comes from in baseball terminology. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regression_analysis Here is a fangraphs discussion on it. http://www.fangraphs.com/library/principles/regression/
  17. Definitely helps to have 3 infielders playing on one side.
  18. Escobar doing his usual fielding.
  19. Generally in baseball discussions "regress" would be for a metric to move to the mean (or average), either for that player or for the league in general. If there are so many players who you think will be better than last year -- who all played well below both their potential and the league last year -- you had better hope they regress.
  20. I agree with Mauer, with a healthy Joe Mauer the Twins are more likely to win games. Pace him the entire season to play in no more than 120 games, because that's all you're going to get anyway. And if he's playing hurt that helps no one.
  21. They were "fun" to watch last year as long as you were watching in the right mindset. Walk off wild pitch losses. Pretty funny. Games with ~150 people in the entire stadium. Pretty funny. Wild pitch walks. Pretty funny. And I'm just scratching the surface.
  22. The IRS pays a bounty if you report a tax evader. Let's all report Donald Trump. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/the-irs-pays-whistleblowers-to-turn-in-tax-evaders-151845951.html Here is a link to the form: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f211.pdf
  23. What is it that he does that does not age well? He profiles to be a guy who can keep playing until he is 40. The Cardinals are one of the smartest teams in baseball when it comes to player personnel. If they think Fowler is worth $16.5M a year, he is. And I agree with them.
