  1. Strange how unlucky and cheap tend to go together with all professional sports teams.
  2. By "due time" I mean within a month after the surgery, if not half that...... As for what's monitored, as I've said I'm not stranger to weird/freak injuries. Every doctor has said to do whatever I feel comfortable doing. I doubt any doctor will forbid the guy from playing video games if he feels up to it......
  3. Lots of us wanted him to be those things so badly that we imagined them to be true. None of this ever was true. I'm not saying he did not have potential, I'm saying he never lived up to our desires. This isn't his fault, as far as I can tell.
  4. Do you think his early career had anything to do with Santana's arm injury? Did you see how many arms his last manager shredded before learning the hard way to start using innings limits and pitch counts?
  5. I'm not stranger to injuries. I have a connective tissue disorder. At any given time my knees, hands, feet, hips, or elbows can give out. I'm sure that, as an athlete, May will be able to play video games in due time. He's probably playing them right now.
  6. May is a back end guy too, but you believe bouncing him around destroyed his arm. I'm not getting you today, at all.
  7. Let me know when Sheehan backs up this 4 year old article with some research.
  8. Nope. He went between starting and relieving for four full years.
  9. Normal, painless mobility comes back quickly after such surgeries, a matter of weeks. Tossing at 80-90 MPH takes a year, not usage of the arm.
  10. Johan Santana worked out fine.
  11. I'm not seeing any statistics there to back anything up. Until someone measures this, it's just an opinion. And in my eye it's a weak opinion.
  12. Now that he tore his UCL he will have plenty of time to play video games.
  13. Early season tickets that include a seat are as low as six bucks for some games, btw. It's worth pointing out that the primary market for standing room only access is last minute buyers. The Twins are eroding their own margins by advance selling 2 months worth of access at a deep discount. People who will buy this package would be buying tickets anyway -- more expensive ones -- and because of this there might be no standing room access tickets left to buy for last minute buyers who will pay more. This is a good deal for a fan who wants to go to a lot of early season games (and probably sneak to a seat when the coast is clear...). But this is a bad financial move by the Twins.
  14. Shouldn't be a surprise that the rotation was mostly set a long time ago and with familiar faces. The Twins gotta play these guys somewhere and they're on the roster.
  15. We would. One only needs to look back to a certain Vikings punter who started miffing punts while being outspoken online for a certain social cause.
  16. Most people who get paid what athletes get paid work closer to 24x7 than most of us could handle. Baseball has a hell of a lot of down time associated with it. What he does outside of the clubhouse is his own deal. In the clubhouse there should be no gaming even if only to foster people talking to each other....
  17. I completely agree that it's pointless to say they should do it differently. It is equally pointless to say they "can't" do it any differently.
  18. Yes, but this is saying the "won't" do it -- not that they "can't" do it. I don't know about you, but I get tired of fans saying that the organization "can't" do these things that other teams do. They most certainly can. There's no reason to defend the "won't" ideology.
  19. Why not? Other teams compete by doing that.
  20. Figures that someone would want to go to war over that. I believe it was me who said that the White Sox and Royals are predicted to be worse. But who cares about predictions, do you think those two teams will be better than the Twins? Last year, every NL division had 2 teams over .500 and 3 teams under .500. Remove the top 3 teams from the league and the NL overall record was under .500. The NL was not competitive. The AL Central had 2 teams under .500. The White Sox would have had a record over .500 had they played at least .500 against the division. The division exceeded expectations. The AL East was dominating as it usually is (that's where most of the capital is in the AL, after all) and the AL West was less competitive than usual. If not for the Twins, the West and Central would have had identical profiles. Silly thing to argue, btw.
  21. Yep, I'm aware of that. Do you believe it? The division was supposed to be a tire fire last year too. It wasn't.
  22. Even if the Twins get better, the AL Central isn't what it used to be. The Twins don't just have to improve by Twins standards, they need to be better than a bunch of other teams that are now quite good. Don't bet on the changes the Twins made moving the needle all that much yet.
  23. Been there, done that. Your other neighbor is better.
  24. True, as crazy as that seems. Not sure that would last all year, though.
