    Some of this is going to get traded at the deadline. I still see the Twins making a move to get someone like Archer especially if Hughes and or Gibson really stink it up. They have the AA and AAA prospects to get it done and not gut the farm. Give the Rays pitching.

    Let me get this straight your comparing Glen Perkins at 6'-0" and 205 lbs. to Sano whose 6'-4" and approximately 290 lbs.? ....yeah okay

    Yes but if that's all you can get then that's all you can get. We all knew the Darvish pursuit was a pie in the sky dream. Arrietta wanted crazy money and nothing to do with Minnesota and trading with Tampa for Archer would have GUTTED the farm. What does that leave you? Lynn, Odorizzi......I look at the signing of Pineda & Lynn along with the trade for Odorizzi (whose 2 years from free agency) as a stop gap measure. By seasons end the front office should have a much better clue as to whose major league ready from Littell, Romero, Gonsalves, Thorpe, etc.

    YES!! 3+ War and an average of 8+ career K's per game. This is not a bad deal. I can see why the Twins wanted a two year deal but i'm still happy with this. Buys more time for the prospects in AA/AAA to advance.

    Like you and Mike said this acquisition along with Odorizzi should help this team avoid crushing strings of consecutive bad starts that kill momentum and knock them out of Division contention early on in the season. We should be able to hang with Cleveland for much of the season (knock on wood) if all goes well. It will also take the pressure off a very young Berrios and Santana who will be jumping into the pool in May. Gibson hopefully will benefit from the extra competition as he's now slid all the way down to #4 and eventually #5. I wonder if Molitor will still go with a 4 man rotation?

    Yes, i agree. I'm impressed with what they've done so far. It would have been nice to land Darvish but everything else has made up for that in a fairly well rounded team. The key this offseason was to address the pitching staff and they have certainly made significant strides in the right direction even if some of the deals are short (Pineda and Lynn). What i do like about it is there were no albatross multi year costly mistakes made such as the Hughes extension or Nolasco signing.

    LOL, why? The team still has a tremendous amount of money coming off the books the next two seasons. Mauer, Lynn, Dozier, Santana, Hughes, etc. Even with these signings they still will have tremendous flexibility in the years ahead and haven't given up any prized prospects in the process. I say high fives all around.

    The best part about all of this is that the Twins Front office added all this talent and gave up only one prospect in the process. Trade chips are still available if they really want to go for it. I see no harm in giving Romero time in AAA and Gonsalves more time in AAA. This is a win win win in my opinion.

    I'm happy with this. Good rotation especially once Santana returns. It's been a long time since the Twins had a solid 1-5 staff like this. Santana (when he returns), Berrios, Lynn, Odorizzi and Gibson. Major Kudos to the Twins front office for getting this done.

    I don't understand why others here are being so dismissive and dare i say dishonest about Lynn's repertoire. He would easily be the Twins 2nd or 3rd starter with Santana out. Does he throw a lot of fastballs (sinker, cutter, etc)? Yes, but he also throws curves and change ups to keep hitters off balance. He's not a "fastball only" pitcher as some have stated here. That's total BS. He also has good velocity (low 90's and touches 96). I'd take him on a two year deal no question. He's certainly better more dependable and consistent than Gibson.

    A direct hit to the head is almost always worse than a glancing blow due to blunt force trauma. Its physics and the transfer of shock of impact to the brain which leads to brain contusions and other injuries causing many concussions. I don't claim to be an expert on the subject matter but i do know quite a bit based on my own experiences with it. The point is they are difficult to predict but there are some known facts out there. Morneau's concussion was far worse than Mauer's which is why it took him so much longer to come back. I also think his lingering symptoms (nausea, dizziness, etc.) were much worse than Mauer's vision issues. About 30-65% of people with TBI have issues with balance, dizziness, visual distortions, etc., depending on the severity of the concussion. A smaller percentage of that number has permanent issues such as vertigo. I would hope that Mauer would have communicated these issues to the Twins training staff promptly instead of waiting several years as he claims. I don't want to get into the Twins medical staff was awful so he tried to go it alone blah blah blah as Deduno Abides states. That is all pure speculation.

    Yes, but even youuuuu don't know how serious it was or not because none two concussions are alike and not everyone experiences the same issues afterwords (i know that for a fact). Now general assumptions can be made based on the severity of the impact but there is still the unknown factor from individual to individual that makes it unpredictable. At first glance Mauer's concussion would seem to be less severe given the ball struck his catchers mask which is bad enough but far less severe in comparison than Morneau's in which he took a knee to the head. I even have my own experience at 12 years old wrecking a dirt bike at high speed on a loose gravel road. I lost a WHOLE DAY and still have no memories of it other than what my mother told me afterwards.

    His 2017 numbers weren't too bad for a first full year back from TJ. He would certainly help solidify the rotation. Maybe he will reconsider and agree to a two year deal with mutual third year option. That would be beneficial for both sides i think.

    I think the Twins can be more aggressive with Romero. Let him start in AAA. If he does well then perhaps a mid-summer to fall callup is in order. In the meantime give Slegers and Gonsalves starts depending on who makes Molitors 4 man rotation. Berrios Odorizzi Gibson Meija/Hughes/Gonsalves/Slegers

    My question is why? Is it because they have no confidence in the options beyond Berrios, Odorizzi and Gibson at this point? If that's true then they need to sign Lynn or Cobb now to bring in some more stability. If not go with Slegers, Gonsalves and Littell, let those kids play in the few starts they'll get before Santana returns. If Hughes turns out okay then no big deal. If they are this panicked about the situation then they need to open up the check book and sign someone, simple as that.
