  1. That could be partly because Dozier hit 42 HRs, meaning he wasn't on base 42 times when he did get a hit....and he hit in front of Sano (not that moving Dozier to 3rd changes that).
  2. Once per game, is, what? 155 at bats, or 25% of at bats? That's a lot of at bats.
  3. I'm not saying they could have gotten anything, my comment was that if Nunez can fetch a legit SP, that I'm surprised they couldn't get anything for anyone (other than Span and Revere). I had forgotten about Milone, frankly. No idea what Willingham would have fetched. Perkins is the only sure fire miss on the list. On topic: The Sox could be really good fast, if the pitchers they got from WAS work out, and they can finally find a few hitters. But then, that's true of most teams (if it all works out, it would make them good).
  4. This just shows, imo, what an awful job they did drafting and developing the end of Ryan's first term....and no, I'm not blaming RYAN, I'm talking about the entire organization there. Willingham, imo, isn't hindsight. Many pushed for him to be dealt, and I recall reading on mlbtraderumors that the Twins wouldn't because "we aren't a farm team for others teams" or something like that. Or maybe I dreamed that, but I think not.... Perkins was a classic no brainer move, they didn't make. I still have no idea why.
  5. I more lament not just calling up the young RPs and SPs sooner, and letting them sink or swim over two years, than not making trades. But, if you can get a legit number 5 starter for Nunez, you should be able to get something for others in the last 7 years, I'd think.....so, I'm not sure they had no one to deal.
  6. I'd probably move Moncada to CF already....and have him in AAA nearly all year, unless they are good somehow. I predict they are bad, and Quintana and Robertson are dealt. Maybe Abreu, but if he's good, then maybe they aren't bad enough to sell it all off.... They'll pick in the top 5, imo, and their minors will be loaded. They'll just have to be good at development for this plan to work out.
  7. There is no guarantee he'll hit at that level if he hits leadoff, either. And the data is clear, it is fairly random. I'd prefer Dozier hit 2nd or 3rd, but I'm not sure how much it really matters, as long as he's in the top 3-4 in the order so he gets more ABs than others....
  8. Amen, preach it. This 100+ loss team just got older, and it's FO and manager spent the whole year trying to get even older and talking about veterans. Not once did we hear about young players and hope for the future. Until they decide to just roll with the youth, and they turn out good (or bad, but at least you know), this team will continue to be bad or maybe mediocre.
  9. That's what everyone said last year, and here we are, and he's back in AAA. At some point, it actually does become a trend .... that some teams just refuse to go young and rebuild, and think staying mediocre is more important.
  10. There was recently an article on ESPN that teams that commit to rebuilding get better faster than teams that just keep trying to stay mediocre. Also, attendance is not helped by not rebuilding.
  11. IMO, the best true hitters hit the ball hard, with elevation, and aren't worried about faking the bunt. Or even trying one.
  12. even in a world where stats don't matter, that's just bad.
  13. It should be pretty clear that I said...promote. What young player have they added, that wasn't on the roster? edit: Indeed, with Chargois and Berrios probably not on the roster, and JRM probably not, I think they've actually reduced the amount of young players, but we won't know for another week or so.
  14. In specific, I agree. In general, this team is SOL if they refuse to promote youth in principle. Given their talk and actions, I'm still waiting.
  15. Well then. Eventually they'll add some youth, but clearly not now.
  16. this. If they try to make him something the opposite of what has made him successful, then I'll have doubts.
  17. Buxton needs to bunt? What is this, 1970? I have never read anyone on the planet, until now, describe Suzuki as a good catcher. edit: has this scout seen the other LFer in the game? Look at the FG projections?
  18. Golly I hope you people bought Shopify last year..... I'm close to betting on bitcoin right now, every time it takes a drop, it recovers. But, I am short cash.....
  19. You have no long man in the current bullpen. One will be added. Either Duffey or Haley or random guy. Or they'll make Tonkin (sigh, why did they do that last year) or Wimmers do it. But, imo, there will be a long man there.
  20. I have no idea if he has 2, 3, 4, or 5. But sure, if he only has 1 or 2, that makes starting a lot harder. I just want this FO to put players in position to succeed, indeed, to excel. That has not always seemed to be the case in the past.
  21. I would still be disappointed that jay was being moved off of starting already, but I can't speak for others. A decision can be both correct, and disappointing...
  22. I have no idea how many pitches he can throw well enough to get out MLB hitters. I just want him used in the most effective way, whatever that is.
  23. Weren't were just told that the system was fine, and we shouldn't worry about the prospects? So confused....
