  1. Only 7 players got QOs this year.....do we think Kepler will be a top 10 FA next year? If so, the Twins should just extend him if he'll take the money....but sure, if he's one of the top 10 FAs next year, they might do a QO. I'll take the under on that. We disagree. I'm ok with that.
  2. mike 2:43 The Twins have done the least work so far......what do you think they'll do first? Jay Jaffe 2:44 They're not in bad shape. Dan published their ZiPS projections today and called them an 85-90 win team https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-zips-projections-minnesota-twins/ 2:46 To my eyes they could use another starter and another bat to put into the 1B/corner OF/DH mix
  3. Did this a few years ago, where I posted TWins's stuff as I found it on the interwebs...... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-zips-projections-minnesota-twins/
  4. The Dodgers have infinitely more money than the Twins. They can take that risk....the Twins can't, imo, take the risk those players take the QO and are not good.
  5. I think we'll disagree here, and I'm ok with that. I don't think any of hte top 3 sit more than a few games (assuming health) if any games, in the coming year. After that? Hard to say, since we don't know if they go to team with a viable option (or what else that team does/needs).
  6. You can point to guys that don't work. That doesn't mean teams won't try it, which was what the post said. Guys don't work at every position in the game, in round 1 all the time. That doesn't mean teams wills stop starting them. Those are two very different things (also, that team is terrible and Young should never have been picked that high. He'd be 4th-6th best this year).
  7. None of whom were top picks.
  8. Neither of those were top 5 picks....there is a difference for sure. I don't feel that the Vikings are in position to sign Kirk, with this D, and draft a QB in round 1, and have a good team next year. Not with Hunter a FA and the D having like 4 even average starters. I could, of course, be wrong. They could get every move right and fix the D with one day 2 pick and having spent 30-40 million on Kirk, but that's going to require amazing work by a FO that hasn't shown anyting near that....
  9. If he's here, I want them trying to win NOW, not using early picks on a QB. Either play for now, or for the future. They don't have the draft capital to win by investing in two QBs (30 million a year for Kirk eats a lot of FA money, and they have one day 2 pick). Either sign Kirk and try to win, or move on. This middle ground is the worst plan. Also, Stroud says hi. I don't think for one minute the top 3 QBs this year will sit around for more than a handful of games, if any.
  10. I think everyone but Paddock is slated to pitch as many innings as they are effective and healthy. I don't know if that rotation is great, though.....but I don't think anyone is limited at this point other than Paddock.
  11. I'd deal down in round 1 and take Nix at around 15-18? Get a 2nd/3rd and 4th? If I take a QB round 1 though, I don't want Kirk here. Just roll the dice with the new guy and invest heavily in D and interior OL.
  12. I mean, if you sign him, you have to consider him CF/LF/1B.......insurance for Buxton, clearly. It all depends on what the Twins think of Buxton's health. All that said, I can't see it. Not with Buxton on the payroll. Also, I'm not convinced he's "back".
  13. I'd want 2 B level prospects from Seattle, but looking at the system, not in love with any of the realistic options......so I'm not convinced MN and SEA match up well for a Polanco for prospect deal.....Ideally I want a SP that was hurt, or is far from the majors but with big upside (I'm dealing for upside, as I don't think you get a AA/AAA really good SP back just for him, but maybe you don?) TOR has a ton of highly regarded SP that were hurt in the minors ....maybe 2 of them (not the best)?
  14. I must be thinking of someone else. I'm also not super high on ewers, as he's always hurt, but at least he can pass the ball when healthy.
  15. Maybe they should draft one of these punters!
  16. That's my thought, but I've not seen enough of Maye and Daniels to order them. Daniels is intriguing to me, I'll admit
  17. Ewers maybe, Nix and Penix for sure.. Maybe the Oregon State guy. There is no evidence McCarthy can carry a team with his arm.
  18. I can't believe anyone thinks he's the fourth, or even fifth, best QB in this draft.
  19. I'm even more sure I don't want McCarthy in round one.
  20. Yes. One half isn't changing my mind. Not even one game. He types during and interception.
  21. Not one person has said players shouldn't try. That's very different than the GM trading players.
  22. They need like 7+ more starters on D and a QB and interior OL. Would be a lot easier to fix if they had the 6th pick for sure. They also only have one day 2 pick. This team is 2-3 very good off seasons from being good, unless they sign Kirk and Danielle and draft (and get it right) all defense. Then they'll be awful in 2 years again when they have no QB, so that plan better work. The blown drafts the last two years on defense really, really, set this team back. Having even 2 more average players on D right now would be very helpful. Alas, they do not.
  23. Polanco last played there multiple years and injuries ago....do you really think he could play an extended time at SS if he had to? More than a few games? He's not 22 like Arraez was. Do you really think Polanco should be at SS for more than an inning or so a game, in an emergency?
  24. In AAA the first full year baseball....I'm not sure what people expect?
  25. I'm really unsure what I'd do here. On the one hand, polanco is still a real hitter and can play second and third. He's really a good hitter. On the other hand, this is exactly the kind of guy you trade to build a deep team for the long run. There are others that play his positions, and he's on an expiring deal. The exact guy Tampa turns into other assets every year. I lean, slightly, to trading him for prospects. But if they keep him, I'll not be even a little unhappy. The rare time I'm not sure there is a bad decision.
