    Reusse is a really talented writer, whether we like what he writes, or not. But for the next couple seasons I think he should stop writing on baseball. No more baseball writing. The Strib already has other baseball writers. The editors should move him to another section until the other baseball writers leave. Perhaps theater critic. It makes a lot of sense. Reusse's a talented writer, right? Knows how to use words, so it shouldn't matter what he writes about. He should do just fine as a theater critic. So what if he's been a very good sports writer his whole career. No more. And no complaining. Your editors were right to do this, so commit yourself. Show people you care. If you don't succeed, it's on you, Patrick. No one else. Also, get on a nutrition program and lose some weight.

    But this makes it sound like the reason the Twins didn't call up Burdi is because they were clairvoyant and knew that he would need TJ surgery anyway. In any case, Noah Syndergaard was sidelined with forearm tightness last spring. He ended up pitching in the World Series

    Oh yeah, add Johnny Cueto to the list of Dominican guys who gained weight and were never heard from again.

    Lots of guys from the Dominican put on extra weight. So instead of continuing to defend a Reusse column he has already admitted wasn't very clear, can we get some hard hitting five-point analysis of how extra weight has ruined the careers of David Ortiz, Pedro Martinez, etc.

    Reusse has some good things to say. But this column was just flimsy, at best. I'm glad he issued a clarification/apology.

    Then why don't you go ahead and tell us about Puckett's and Hrbek's offseason commitment to greatness? I'll give you a hint: start at zero and don't add to it. Your defense of Ruesse and everyone else's defense of him is baffling to me.

    Ugh. I read on other threads about how Duffey needs some time in AAA, needs a third pitch, as if his successful stint in MLB last year means absolutely nothing. Hope Terry Ryan is right about this.

    As incredible as it may seem, there are in fact highly-placed people who are pro-war. They are the neoconservatives. They have even taken to renaming the recent conflict as World War IV (with World war III being the Cold War versus the Soviet Union). The neocons are also highly skilled in PR.

    That's important context but still doesn't really explain the Reusse article. Also, do you think Sano being told (out of the blue and from a continent away) that he is now a right fielder, would that cause him to take the Twins more seriously?
